Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

And a dollar could buy a lot more in 2019 than today!

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's the opposite. Tesla has a massive advantage since it's a high volume Manufacturer! And they make almost all of their own parts, so they are used to producing very specialized parts. Exactly what a new technology is going to need. All these startups, even successful, will have to figure...

That we know of was my point. We don't know what capabilities the future versions already in testing contain.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yeah, I misspoke from memory. I went and found the post later and updated the reply with it. Also, as has been proved in these last few point releases, most Teslas are uploading massive amounts of data (much more than in the past), so it would seem obvious that they're incorporating in more...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That's a joke about Google, right? History is littered with examples of large companies with "better" tech, R&D, etc. being left in the dust or completely destroyed by start ups or more nimble companies.

Elon posted this a few days ago, when he referenced 12.5 and 12.6 as well.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Slight modification to your statement: The current version of FSD (current version in normal people's hands) is no solved. Glad there's 12.4 coming in a week or two on almost completely new training data, with 12.5 and 12.6 in various forms of testing right behind it.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Time is essential for Climate Change. At the current rate of transition, it's not happening fast enough! Robotaxis enable a 10 times impact per vehicle, thereby vastly speeding up the process. All Tesla has to do is mandate that anyone licensing FSD must do it with an EV (no hybrids/gas...

FSD 12.4 is almost all newly trained, so I expect a lot of these things will change for the better.

Those that have gone from a Model X to Cybertruck, are you happy with the switch?

There's already a mention of Homelink in the manual. It's just a matter of time (like FSD, which is apparently a few months away). BTW, I have owned every Tesla model except the X lol. It's awesome, and really a toss-up between it and the Model S Plaid (both awesome, just in different ways).
  14. Speedr117

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

You KNOW a product is going to be a hit when it's very polarizing. If you can look past the looks (sorry about the pun), the rest of the truck is AMAZING! You forget you're even driving a 6,700 pound truck that looks crazy...until someone takes a picture, and then you remember.

Knowing the spreadsheet "geniuses" on Wall Street, they'll probably flag this as a huge negative since it will "deplete" Tesla's cash balance with no future value vs. cheering a cash dividend.

I've had mine for almost a month, and so far, all interactions have been positive. The biggest takeaway? MOST PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE CYBERTRUCK! They haven't seen it or read about it. Think of how much we all assume most people follow the news, what Elon says, etc. Nope. Most people are...

Going back to investing, I think the million dollar question is what will happen first: Stock drops due to low delivery numbers Stock rises due to FSD and Wall Street realizing Tesla is a great AI play I'm leaning towards the first option, and am hoping for a dip early next week to load up...

I think lawyers will be lining up to sue every single company and declare their CEO's comp package is unfair. I mean, if fairness is the only issue, then how can any of them be worth the money, right? Let's start with the Oil and Gas companies, and then the large banks, Wall Street, etc!!!

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

To me, the only reason to lease in the past was when the manufacturer incentivized the lease to cause it to be a 0% loan for 3 years, assuming the buyout was what the car was really supposed to be after 3 years. Then it becomes like a stock option: wait 3 years, and if it's still good, execute...

Agreed, hence the order of the....CYBERBEAST!!! For that version, it's really only a $5,000 "early access" fee, which I'm willing to pay (see included pic below). Also knowing it's going directly to Tesla (instead of a dealer) makes it a little easier to swallow. In fairness, almost all new...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Not pure profit, but FSD is the main expense, and even though a lot of people ordered when it was $7k, I would argue most didn't. Also, FSD is almost all pure profit. The other stuff they're throwing in won't cost Tesla more than $1,000, $2,000 at the most. So I'd argue it IS mostly profit. But...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Ordered! I know from an accounting perspective they'll lose money due to costs being divided by such a small number of production, but I bet there will be a lot of people helping the cause by giving Tesla an extra $20k to cushion the loss! BTW, this was a reservation that was done within the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

You have to love GM. They know their costs are going up due to their labor agreement and the transition to EVs, plus the overall economy is slowing and their profits will be squeezed. So what do they do? They raise their dividend by 33% and do a $10 BILLION stock buyback. I sometimes think they...

Third Tesla, first Model S - My Review after 1000 km

I went from a 2017 Model S 100D to a 2023 Model S Plaid a few months ago (when FSD transfer was available). I am so happy! Unlike others, the car was perfect and I'm loving it. It's like the ultimate upgrade...familiar, but everything is new and upgraded! Hard to believe they're the same car...

If you look at the bottom notch and the top bolt, it looks like a changeable panel, which would be great! No need for an adapter, just get the appropriate plate/insert that has the right NEMA outlet (there are like 10 of them!) and you're all set.
  37. Speedr117

Anybody interested in a lighter weight Plaid?

@bkcyk, can you link to where you got your wheels, and the specs on them? Did you use the OEM tires and just swap out the rims, or did you go with a different size?
  38. Speedr117

    What has changed?

Had a 2017 Model S 100D and now have a Plaid with Yoke. As much as I loved my old Model S, the new one is soooo much better. When I drive our Model Y, I'm constantly reaching for the touchscreen for the shifter. Hopefully that'll be a software update to enable it on all Tesla's. Of all the big...

He was very knowledgeable and experienced! He was saying two things about Toyota: the market has deemed them as being able to survive the transition (market cap, only car company to increase in value around 5% per year - less the S&P 500 though, so he said not a long term asset to hold), and...

Summon out of the garage and more

I have HW3 in our MY with FSD Beta (was 11.4.4, and now it's 11.4.7.3). It has no problem backing out of our garage, over a small lip, and down our driveway. Pushing the Plaid to its Design Limits?

I used "brakes" as a general term. My point was, they have been improved since I haven't had any issues that the seemed to have plagued the previous version. If it is just brake pads, then you'd think someone on here who could reproduce the issue would swap them out and report back...

Pushing the Plaid to its Design Limits?

The new updated brakes on the latest Plaid seem really good and I haven't had any "high brake temperature" issues after doing multiple max braking corners on my favorite twisty road. I have to remind myself every time I drive that only the acceleration is unworldly, the braking and corning are...
