    2015 85D displays 90D

I am looking to buy a 2015 85D that displays 90D in the instrument cluster and on the Software tab on the touchscreen. What could this mean? Is this a battery upgrade?

    An unforeseen Model S risk

You forgot the huge spare wheel that takes up most of the rear hatch. We are thankful for the frunk when we go on long trip in our MS.

This will not end well for BMW

Don't assume that MY will be planted like your MX. I love the way the MX drives, it would be my favorite Tesla if it did not have the idiotic doors and front windshield. In fact, when I was buying my MS, the MX was exactly the same price and would have been a MUCH better fit for my family. But...

Suspension question for folks who’ve had German cars

Model S is WAY more stable at speed. Way better (less nervous) steering, too. Still nowhere near as good as my M-Sport BMW 550i. But the Model 3 I test drove was not my cup of tea at all.

Wow, we need to find another way to heat EVs

You think this is bad, try driving a base Nissan Leaf in the winter. 30-40 mile range at moderate speeds on the highway, about 50 miles on suburban roads (50 mph) with the heat on. The range indicator is the biggest issue because it is way too optimistic. You fall below 50% battery and the range...

AP 1 what am I missing

I would not worry about the new AP features or the entertainment fluff but the new Raven suspension is absolutely a monumental upgrade. It is truly world class.

Is MCU 2 the most important feature when shopping for a used Tesla?

The most important is AP. AP1 is vastly better than no AP. MCU version makes no difference to me at all.

Supercharger - King of Prussia, PA

Completely agree with what you posted. We need many more superchargers around Philly and in other areas like Wellsboro. For that drive from Doylestown to Lancaster I have found that Rt202/Rt 30 is only a few minutes slower than taking the turnpike but it really conserves your battery because...

Not having regen after the last software update sucks

Same everything as OP. Except I just tried to pay more attention to regen while driving and I think it IS a little weaker than before. It is hard to tell.

What to do?!?!? 2013 Model S 60 Battery fail

It sucks but that $11k quote seems very low for a 60 kWh battery. I would go with that repair. Maybe try to get part of it covered by some sort of goodwill gesture... It could have been a lot worse: Is It Global? Nissan Charges €30,000 For LEAF Battery Pack In Portugal

Supercharger - King of Prussia, PA

The wikipedia page says it is the largest in the US. But it is much smaller than the West Edmonton Mall. I was there in 2004 and it was way bigger than KoP, can confirm.

    Manual Transmission / Stick Drivers

This is exactly how I feel. I have also noticed a few bewildered automatic drivers complain about how they had to adjust their driving style to drive their Tesla. No adjustment needed for us stick shift drivers!
  18. R

    Manual Transmission / Stick Drivers

I don't drive automatic cars -- they drive me insane. Neither does my wife. Tesla behaves EXACTLY like a manual car, combining terrific throttle response, precise torque control, engine braking, sitting still on a flat surface, rolling back on an incline, etc. All the positives and none of the...

It's too late, my MCU1 Died....

I think you misunderstood my comment. What I am saying is that in order to be able to charge in the event that your MCU fails, you should disable scheduled charging. INSTEAD of scheduled charging, use the Stats app to regain this functionality. The schedule is then controlled by the app and not...

    Man burns in Burning Tesla

These types of crashes are by far the most dangerous. Even a moderate collision with a tree or a pole is fatal most of the time. The rigid battery will work well to mitigate the interior intrusion but the forced involved are way beyond what a human body can survive. My niece was a passenger in a...

It's too late, my MCU1 Died....

For people concerned about not being able to charge in case of MCU failure, you can turn off scheduled charging and the car will charge if the MCU fails. The workaround for not being able to set a charging schedule is to use the Stats app, which allows you to schedule charging and is very...

Two broke down Tesla cars simultaneously-I feel like a fool for buying 2 Teslas

I disagree. Lexus is Toyota with expensive dealership experience. Tesla is next generation car you cannot get anywhere else for any money. Also, my local Tesla service center is terrific. No complaints at all.

It's too late, my MCU1 Died....

I would call not being able to defrost/defog your windows a safety defect if you are outside of California. I know this would fail the annual safety inspection in my state.

Not free but cheaper than they would have been otherwise. Lexus and Infinity failed in Europe for a good reason.

    Likely MCU Failure (MCU1 eMMC)

This is something that should (and probably will) cause a safety recall. If the eMMC fails while driving, the lack of window defog/defrost is a huge safety issue. Cars have been recalled for far smaller problems.

    Likely MCU Failure (MCU1 eMMC)

My MS was seemingly dead after V10 upgrade, too. Both screens off, then instrument cluster booted up but the center screen was dark and unresponsive. I immediately thought eMMC failure after it did not seem to respond to a two wheel reboot. It came back after a while.

V10 Impressions from those who have installed the update

So what's the verdict on V10? I don't care about smart summon or games. My number one, number two thru number 1000 concern is AutoPilot performance. Are the nags more frequent? Is it back to phantom braking? Is AP improved? My car has been nagging me to install it but I have been hesitant...

My realization after 5 yrs of ownership...Tesla needs to replicate the Gas station experience

Personally, I would settle for a canopy. Seriously, I do believe that most charging stations should follow gas station example in this regard.

Bought a S85 and all four front lower control arms need replacement.

Japanese cars are simple as a nail. Nothing fails because there is nothing to fail. Also, new Toyota suspension feels the same as worn Toyota suspension. Speaking from experience.

Model S is long in the tooth

Bah, when I test drove my MS two years ago, I already thought that compared to my 2010 BMW 550i. Suspension, interior, steering, brakes, seats, etc. But once you own it for a little while, you understand that all that stuff is secondary. I hate driving ICE vehicles now. Also, AP has spoiled me...

"Lane Keep Assist" - Telsa vs. Subaru Eyesight (My experience)

Of course this wouldn't happen with the EyeSight system -- the driver would have probably died with the EyeSight system. Because if you read the guy's comments, he fell asleep. Which would have resulted in a nasty crash in a car without Autopilot. Look, I like Subaru. I have owned five of them...

"Lane Keep Assist" - Telsa vs. Subaru Eyesight (My experience)

I saw the Lane Assist added in one of the updates and immediately dismissed it. I do vast majority of my driving on rural two lane highways where Tesla AP works exceptionally well. If I am actively driving my MS on a winding road -- why would I want the LDA system interfering with my inputs? If...

"Lane Keep Assist" - Telsa vs. Subaru Eyesight (My experience)

Tesla AP can be activated on vast majority of roads -- what roads are you referring to? I use AP for 90% of my driving, on vast majority of roads everywhere I drive in US and Canada. In contrast to you, I have never used LDA functions -- and why would I if I can use full AP? The only roads where...

"Lane Keep Assist" - Telsa vs. Subaru Eyesight (My experience)

Why would anyone use that feature?!!! If you are not on AP, you are able to maintain the car in your lane. Why would anyone want "assist?" I am so confused about the purpose of this.
  39. R

"Lane Keep Assist" - Telsa vs. Subaru Eyesight (My experience)

I have driven Subarus with EyeSight system and I find this assertion laughably wrong. First of all, Subaru system requires three button presses to turn on. It is impossible to determine its status while driving because the instrument cluster is overloaded with info and looks very confusing...

    2016 75D - CPO with a major heart-wrenching issue

Don't feel too bad, I had a hell of a time to get Tesla to take my money to upgrade my 60D (bought new) to 75D and to uncork. It took a lot of back and forth and ultimately it was the service advisor at the local service center who figured it out. It was ridiculous. I now drive in Chill mode...

People are crazy not to buy Tesla cars!

Corolla is pretty much the worst driving car I can think of. Maybe even worse than Jeep Wrangler. But I agree that Tesla lease prices don't make any sense. Might as well buy at that price. Especially with Feredal tax credit going away. If you buy, you are getting a far more durable car (at...

First "Long" trip - newbie requesting some real world advice

Did you try changing the initial charge from 90 to 100%? Also try changing the target remaining charge from 10% to 9%, 8% -- whatever you feel comfortable with. 10% is what, 30+ miles?
