Anyone try Hankook iON i*cept SUV winter tires

I am a big fan of the Hankook A/S, but winter has all but abandoned Indiana. People around here look at you funny, when you ask about "winter" tires. You might have to run up to Winnipeg to reliably find them.

Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

Interesting. TBH, my car rarely makes those mistakes. The most common one I've noticed is on the interstate, where we have dual speed limit signs next to each other, second being the truck limit. It's a crap shoot as to which one prevails. I don't think I have ever noticed had it reading a...

Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

You are warned that it will make mistakes. It never had the ability to read no turn on red. You just have to hover over the brake, or the right scroll wheel to take it out of the turn. Some stop signs are slow to approach, but you can tap the go pedal if you feel like it needs to get on with it...

    Mounting a Ham Radio

I have found Tesla generates no noise whatsoever, very clean. It also is virtually impervious to high levels of RF generated inside or near the vehicle. The only problem I've ever had was with my 2015 S, when I would park near an FM radio tower (where I have several repeaters). There are three...

    Cabin Overheat Protection

"Normal behavior" simply means do what you have been doing for the last sixty years with your hot vehicles. You've got a handle on it. Tesla just gives you an extra twelve hour reprieve, that you did not have before. Yes, I would like it to be on forever, especially if the vehicle is plugged...

    Cabin Overheat Protection

True. Revert to normal behavior. Cars get hot when left outdoors in the sun. Don't leave your heat sensitive items in the car.

    Mounting a Ham Radio

It depends on what you consider damage. I mounted an NMO base through the roof, at rear of my 2018 X. One of those long throw NMO mounts that could go through something like an inch thick. The spline appliqué is fairly thick plastic, but it is anchored the steel spline underneath. I think it...

Tesla Autopilot Full Self Driving Month Trial April 2024. Pretty Good!

It would help if you included the version you are running. I am on 12.3.6, and it performs all of the things you mention just fine. Except #3. It is supposed to just stop, so you can get out of the vehicle. You have arrived. Yes, I would like it to pull in to my driveway by itself. Maybe...

    Spring release 2024.14 for 23-24 Model X

There really isn’t a “spring” release, per se. Tesla releases software whenever there are improvements or bug fixes. I have had at least six updates in the last two months, and both our vehicles are on 2024.3.25 (FSDs 12.3.6)

It is unlikely to work on older cars as well, unless they are running old software. The change occurred when Camp Mode was added. There is a connector on the left side of the driver's foot well, for the connection of a trailer brake controller. That connector has always-on 16V available...

Model X 20-inch square wheel setup

If this is really true, you are in need of an alignment, badly. There is no reason folks cannot get at least 30,000 miles out of a set of tires. I typically exceed 40,000 (unless I break one).

Model X 20-inch square wheel setup

Hankook ION EV tires for me. Discount Tires carries them. Not square, but extremely quiet, much better than the OEM contis. Plus probably 10% better mileage, but the jury is still out on that. I need to come up with a road trip to verify. Certainly not worse.

what is FSD 12.3 expected to do when it arrives at its destination?

I am on 12.3.6, and it just stops in front of my house. One thing that 12.3.6 does much better, it will drive through a traffic light changing to red, instead of jamming on the brakes. Also got auto park features. (I went from 12.3.4 to 12.3.6, so maybe 12.3.5 did that too).

What Would Compel You To Upgrade to a Future Model X?

TBH, because the Model X hood is so short, the cams behind the glass have a pretty decent view of everything forward. Plus they are behind glass, reducing the effects of crummy weather.

What Would Compel You To Upgrade to a Future Model X?

Change just for the H of it? There are three front facing cameras, which one do you want? How about looking out the window? The Birdseye view in FSDs version 12.3.6, is really quite good, much improved over 12.3.4 (my vehicle skipped 12.3.5). Ok... Actually I like it where it is. It can be...

Is it really super dangerous to go over the 120pound weight limit of the stock tow hitch? I’m about 30-50 pounds over.

Yes, it is an accident waiting to happen. The next speed bump or railroad crossing could easily generate 10X the static load. You need a trailer to carry the loads as pictured.

Indianapolis: AES Indiana, No longer offering EVX tariff

Anybody else that hasn't gotten the prompt to upgrade to UWB for the phone key yet?

The only vehicle where precise location is an advantage, is the Model X, with its automatic door open feature. I was asked by my 2022 Model X, but not my 2019 Model 3. While I can't say for sure whether or not that feature exists on the Model 3. But UWB really would not make a difference to me.

X90D battery being replaced with 75kwh battery under warranty!?

It doesn't work that way. Current drawn is actually less, because the voltage is lower. It is a lower voltage pack with fewer modules and fewer cells per module. It is going to produce less power. You can see that in the specs for the vehicle, lower acceleration and lower range.
