Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

It's understandable how Tesla can be such a famously customer hostile company when their customers just bend over and defend them no matter what. You guys really are amazing :). Tesla is worth hundreds of billions of dollars, but you are contorting yourselves every which way just to...

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

And yet, the fact remains that there are thousands of dealers, and some of them do not charge a markup at all, and the actual markup varies between dealers. You don't even get -that- bit of choice with Tesla. Which is why their markups are more annoying.

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

As mentioned several times, the difference is that there are 10s of thousands of car dealers. Don't like what your Toyota dealer is asking down the street? Go to one of the 1500 other dealers in the US instead. But Tesla does not allow competition, so your only option is to pay whatever they...

    M3LR trade in for MYP?

I wish I could trade in my nearly brand new 3 for a Y without taking a $20K bath on it, LOL. I would have gotten a Y but the prices felt so out of whack that it just wasn't worth it. At the current price point, I'd have gone for it. Oh well, that's life. I'll keep the 3 until I get tired of...

    Snippiness 2.0

Yes, but Elon is only letting you fellate in him your dreams, not real life.

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

Except that was dealer markup for individual dealers. You could go to a different dealer (and some don't do markup at all). Tesla is the only seller you can go to if you want to buy a new Tesla. What aggravates people is the "ha! screw you!" way they implemented this. December 1st -- here's...

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

You can rationalize it all you want, but the rebate was in response to the price drop. The fact that there was fine print about agreeing not to sue them was prudent but not at all the point of the rebate. They were soothing customers who had just bought a new Bolt only to find out the...

Discussion: Model 3 Price reductions - Jan / April / Oct 2023 and all other pricing discussions

Don't leave out the best part! GM wrote a check to people who had recently bought a 2022 Bolt so they wouldn't feel like they just got hosed.

    How many PCS have failed?

Yeah, I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe just dirt in the connector or something. It was in my garage, way above freezing.

    How many PCS have failed?

This is pretty fascinating. Now I'm a little worried. Not a lot worried, mind you, my car is still well under the basic warranty coverage, but still. A few days ago it just didn't want to charge at anything more than 8A. Not even 16A. Cycled it a few times, rebooted, it finally said it...

Arbitration decision of my PCS dispute

Interesting information, thanks for sharing. I understand how the arbitrator could find in favor of Tesla based on the language of the warranty, but I very much appreciate you pointing out that Tesla is fairly unique in this regard. I will take that under advisement when making my next car...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Better to use an LFP these days, though. Lead acid too expensive, AGM in particular is wildly overpriced. Especially when all the components are otherwise bargain basement chinesium.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

That is a more typical solution that does not involve the EV, sure. But in 2022 I wouldn't waste that kind of money on an expensive lead acid battery.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Available but not free. Tesla required full patent access for anyone who wanted to join them. If they had made it actually free and fully documented years ago, who knows, something could have changed. But let's not kid ourselves, Tesla never wanted it to be any kind of open standard. They...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

It ... looks like a Model 3 with camo. Clearly a very mild refresh, not any kind of significant redesign. At least not on the outside.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Your experience sounds similar to mine. Picked up our midnight gray 3LR yesterday afternoon. Gaps are really good on this car, for sure better than they were on my '19 P3D. Definitely not as fast, but it's no slouch. Doesn't have that "holy *sugar*!" punch that the P3D did. But maybe I'll pony...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I do sort of wonder, however, if the easy availability of inventory means demand is flattening a bit. Would make sense given the state of the economy right now if people are holding back on big purchases. If Tesla wants to juice sales, they may be planning to drop the LR enough to squeak it...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I jumped on the 3750 deal. Needed something for the wife, was going to get her the RWD in a couple weeks when I could push delivery to Jan and grab the credit. Wanted the LR more but ... hey, over the price limit for the credit. Not that the credit really matters in the end, but weirdly...
