Direct 18" vs. 20" wheel comparison for efficiency

Coincidentally I just completed a 4-day trip with Hankook iON evo summer tyres on Überturbines. I did 276 miles on 62kWh (83% battery). Over the last 830 miles on Hankooks I’ve averaged 225Wh/mi.

I’ve not yet done any highway trips since getting the Hankooks but in 830 miles of everyday driving the efficiency is quite noticeable.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Do we not think that Tesla have put the '24 M3P on a hub dyno and measured the mechanical horsepower with real-world SoC and cell temperature? e.g. 70% and 30C for 500hp.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The Pirelli tyres have an EU tyre label rating C for rolling resistance, which is very good. As a yardstick, a regular Michelin PS4S is D rated and the T0 version E rated. Range can very easily be reduced by 10%. Tesla fit Hankook iON EVO to the optional 19" wheels on the LR. These are B rated...

The LG pack cannot physically provide as much power as the Panasonic. No amount of software updating can overcome this.

They offered me £25,400 which seems quite a kick in the nuts when I see one year older M3P with the same mileage in certified pre-owned for £40k.

Car location on Map is off by few meters

I had exactly the same problem before. Driving up the A1 the navigation was constantly instructing me to leave/join every exit because it thought the car was ~30m off the road. I saw a very confused looking Model Y driver at the side of the road coming the other way. I reported it to service and...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

What Tesla is claiming is conservative* and both Panasonic and LG variants will already be uncorked - the previous M3Ps are. Jason Camissa's video confirmed that the '24 is now battery limited. *I think they've been forced to provide a HP spec with the '24 M3P because the previous method of...

Correct. The LG pack isn't capped (limited) like the Panasonic. It only makes 415kW at 100% SoC and 50C. You'll also see a 30kW/40hp difference between the Panasonic and LG at 50% SoC. Co-incidentally the difference between 500hp and 460hp.

When I bought mine outright in '22 the PCP quote had an optional final payment of £22k. I was sure it could never depreciate to this level in four years. It's now 2 years old. WBAC (comedy) valuation is £25k. WhatCar Private/Part-ex £27k. Tesla's last valuation was less than WBAC. Unless they...

They did, along with reverting to 'standard' ride height. It's still firm and not all that comfortable at slow speeds. Probably the single reason I would be interested in the '24 M3P when/if they put a better battery pack in it.

    Model 3 Highland Performance

I won't buy another M3P whilst it has the same battery pack as the LR. It's such a significant, costly component that has a fundamental impact on performance, range and charging. Mine was bought when they were £10k more expensive and I was fine with this. If I had to go out and buy another...

    Model 3 Highland Performance

This has been discussed at length over on the speculation topic. The previous M3P would hit peak power of 430kW/585PS at 70-90km/h with the Panasonic battery and 415kW/564PS at 70km/h with the LG battery. Tesla rated the Panasonic car at 377kW/513PS by summing the front and rear motor power and...

    Model 3 Highland Performance

I'm fortunate to own a Q1/2022 M3P with the Panasonic battery and 3D6 rear motor. It's well known that the LG battery has 34HP less power and with this being the only drivetrain difference between US and UK/EU cars it has to be the reason for the 40HP lower power (in round numbers). The claims...

I'm struggling to believe that the UK/EU variants are going to achieve 2.9s 0-60mph. Same goes for the claim that it's the "most powerful Model 3 ever". The US variants will be faster than before with the Panasonic battery and 4D2 motor.

Is there any difference between Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4 acoustic tyres?

Not in 235/35R20. The vanilla PS4S is D rated, and would make sense for the T0 version to be less efficient because it is wider. There's a significant difference between B and E rating.

I've not found anything, but it's typically not tested in the tyre tests. However I don't think it will be an issue, for me at least. I would have exceeded 30k miles on the 280 tread wear rated Pirellis and I expect the Hankooks to last as long with the 320 tread wear rating.

After a few days of usage I'm still noticing that the Hankook iON evo are quieter than the outgoing Pirelli PZERO ELECT T0. Also not finding them lacking grip or handling; if anything they feel more responsive. Recent testing by TÜV SÜD and Auto Bild rated them above the Michelins.

It's a little wider than a single dot but your point is very valid. One thing I don't understand is how @eivissa power curve starts at just 50 kW. Assuming that from standstill the motors are producing 100% torque. How much current does this need? Assuming 335 volts is supplied equals 150...
