Tesla service & maintenance: the biggest difference with legacy car makers?

Admin question: why has my post been moved to the Canada subforum? I am not in Canada, and it’s not about a Canadian service centre. Image of the Canadian service centre was added by admin, not by myself.

Nope, based in the UK. Admin added the image. "Admin note: Image added for Blog Feed thumbnail" I am assuming because typically the Googles of this world like an image for content search:

Tesla service & maintenance: the biggest difference with legacy car makers?

Had an appointment at the Tesla Service Centre in Nottingham today to replace a faulty tyre pressure sensors in my 2021 M3. In all the ways that Tesla tries to be different - some of which are more successful than others - it made me come to the conclusion this may be one of the best. Booking a...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

Wipers definitely gotten worse a few updates ago. Same stretch of road I have driven on dozens of times in different time of day, bone dry weather, and wipers will come on. Clean windscreen glass, no shade from trees, still wiping every couple of minutes on some days. Never done this before.

Tesla Model Y - have I made a huge mistake

I can confirm that my M3 (Dec 2021) warned me about significantly reduced tyre pressure whilst sat on our drive. I expected I had a slow puncture, so put some air in the tyre at the end of the afternoon after coming home from work. The (digital) tyre inflator confirmed the pressure was back to...

Luton Tesla Superchargers open for business

Visited Luton superchargers yesterday for the first time. Not the easiest to get to or leave … Followed the satnav, which recommended this stop to charge. First it tried routing me into the McDonalds car park next door, then tried via the drive through (both ways are not recommended…) Finally...

In my experience you can't cancel preconditioning, apart from cancelling the route to the charger. I've tried pressing on the preconditioning message, but that just removes the message, it doesn't cancel preconditioning (I can still hear the fans going).

Wow, I thought this was a thread about highland, but last 3 pages is just petty arguments about dark mode. Are we all ok?

    So… Highland is out…

The Tesla has a whopping big battery pack, that’s why it’s so bloody heavy…
  13. B

    So… Highland is out…

You can order it now in China as well in Australia for Jan-March delivery. And they’re made in the same Chinese factory as UK version I believe… Not sure who is in charge of UK Tesla imports, but they’re doing a sh*t job 😁

    So… Highland is out…

Only (noticeable?) difference between SR and LR according to the Dutch configurator is the number of speakers: 9 in the SR and 17 in the LR plus two subwoofers and two amplifiers. Both versions seem to have ambient lighting, ventilated seats and the rear screen. Also no more fog lights in the...

    PCP

I’m on my sixth car now on PCP, and only returned the car to the finance company once. This was a Voluntary Termination (VT) which was cheaper then part exchanging it because I went well over my allowed mileage. Financing was with BMW, and they sent out a specialist (BCA) to my house to check...

Interesting. I’ve been to Rugby about 8 times in the last 12 months, usually between 4-6pm and only had to queue once, and that’s when the new chargers were going in and a bunch of them were unavailable.

    Interior lighting

100% sure for Made in China SR+, which is what the OP is referring to. My 2021 M3 does not have it. Looks like it is different for the MY. Just checked the (UK) MY configurator, and that doesn't make a difference between premium/part-premium interiors. Looks like all MYs get premium sound &...

    Voluntary termination point in lease?

No idea, I don’t know what your monthly payments are. But I believe that if you want to “buy” yourself out of a lease deal, you need to pay all the remaining lease payments. And when you do, you’ll have nothing to show for it - you won’t own the car.
  21. B

    Voluntary termination point in lease?

No, VT only applies to PCP or HP agreements where you have the option to own the vehicle. From www.thecarexpert.co.uk/car-finance-voluntary-termination-pcp-hp/: t’s expensive getting out of a lease early, and there is limited support available to help you. You are simply renting the vehicle...

    Numberplates Stolen - Model Y

Same happened to my previous car a couple of years ago. Easy to get new plates, Halfords will do them while you wait for example. Challenge I had is that I had to have someone else drive me to the Halfords because of course you can’t drive a car without plates… I informed police only the same...

Three Horn Beeps And Headlight Flashes

Dragging up this old thread, but he same is happening with my Dec 21 MIC M3. I also have a key fob. Happens very infrequently, maybe once every three months. This morning I got 3 short beeps when unlocking the car, another 3 when I got in, and another 3 as I exited the car. No idea what’s...

What is the Appointment Request procedure at Service Centres?

In my experience with service bookings in the last few months (mobile and at the SC), the appointment process seems to be automated and isn’t looked at by a person until 24-48 hours before the scheduled appointment. If the request is for a relatively common issue that is categorised in the app...

Whats your favourite and least favourite supercharger and why?

Favourites: Darts Farm, Exeter and Rugby. Exeter has the weirdest layout but farm shop is great. Rugby is fast and has all the amenities, but usually very busy and the facilities are a trek and a half to get to. Least favourite: Newport Pagnell services. Slow chargers and so far away from the...

Quick part replacement: a little Tesla succes story.

A little succes story from me in spite of all the doom and gloom with regards to part supplies. One Saturday I noticed a 3cm hole in the plastic cover in the front bumper that houses the fog light in the more expensive models. I reported it via the app on Sunday, and part was replaced by two...

    Trading Standards & Park Assist

Why is this rumour still going around that Tesla is deactivating USS from cars that currently have them? Is this based on when they removed radar? Same as this assumption that they'll remove stalks and move to the yolk steering wheel, we've seen zero evidence of that on the M3?

How to remove my pod point tethered charger from Tesla charge port? (Without using the screen in the car)

Or you can buy a key fob, and unlock the charger using that. It was one of the main reasons I purchased it. I found that using the phone to unlock the charger took too much time for me, specially if you're in the rain waiting to go inside the house...

14 Months of leasing a Tesla, now time to move on.

Let’s face it: electric cars - right now - aren’t for everybody. This is my first electric car, and I can’t imagine ever going back to an ICE car. But it suits my lifestyle and the amount of driving that I do - in and outside of working hours. Does the M3 have its weaknesses? Absolutely, but so...

Tesla app down - 503 maintenance error?

Mine has been down since about 10am. Received a black screen only this morning, signed in, signed out, reinstalling the app - now the visuals are back but not connecting to the car. Particularly annoying because I had a SC appointment tomorrow, and the only way they tend to communicate is a day...

Are UK Owners less fussy? Or are we getting a better built product in the first place?

Probably a combination of all of the above. When I test drove an M3 in summer 2021, the SC mentioned build quality is better in China made cars compared to US. A forum is no scientific representation of build quality. People only tend to post following a problem, not when the car is doing well…

    35cm crack in rear windscreen

In case anyone is interested, or has a similar issue in the future: received a message today (day before the SC appointment) that 3rd parties now do glass replacements. Changed SC appointment to mobile visit next Monday to confirm if it is a warranty or paid for replacement.

    35cm crack in rear windscreen

Thanks, that’s helpful to know. I’ll wait to see what (if anything) comes back from the Tesla SC on Monday. Want to see how far I get on a warranty claim first.

    35cm crack in rear windscreen

According to the estimate: replace. This is what the estimate states: Correction: Glass - Backlight (heat pump) (Remove & Replace) (cost £123.75 ex VAT) Parts replaced or added: SEALANT, BETASEAL EXPRESS (£14.00). PRIMER, BETAPRIME, 10ML. (cost £9.63) Now this must be an automated message...

Found a nice 35 cm crack in the rear windscreen of my 2021 M3 this morning. No sign of any impact so very curious. Will try to raise a service ticket on the app, but wondering if anyone had the same? Hopefully will be treated under warranty but I’m expecting a protracted process…

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

Nothing to do with “low speed recreation”. It already does that when displaying cars around you when in slow moving traffic or waiting for a traffic light. The system can recognise traffic lights, others cars, cones, etc. What it now needs to recognise/display is walls and other obstacles...

[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

Not really. They already have a map of the (immediate) environment , part of which is already displayed on our screens. It doesn’t need any additional hardware or inputs that aren’t already in the car. Don’t know, I’m not a software developer but I can see how this approach may work.

[UK] Would you buy another tesla

An “unsure” vote from me, first time Tesla (and EV-) owner, 1 year into M3 SR+ ownership having done 9,000 miles so far. Biggest pros from me are drive train (speed, responsiveness), handling, charging network and clean design of the interior. Biggest con for me is that it isn’t as solidly...

    Standard range journeys

I always use the built-in sat nav. It preheats the battery on time and takes the occupancy of the chargers into consideration “en-route”. Something ABRP doesn’t do, and also can’t be bothered with planning chargers before I get in the car. This has never let me down in 18,000 or so miles of...

EAP trial 2022? Will we get this?

Of course the price (what you pay) isn’t always linked to the cost (what it costs to produce), specially with software.
