    Ear pain/Pressure help

Update: There is truth to some of the other people's anecdotal reports of vinyl tubing not resolving booming noises in their Model Y. I met with user @BrianZ last weekend, and we did 5/16" OD tubing, calibrated the hatch, with not great results. Put in 3/8" OD tubing, and the gap was too huge...

3D Printed Rear Headrest Tablet Holder That Uses Headrest Poles

Hey Guys, I got 2 Samsung A7 Lites for free and decided to do something useful with them. I wanted a safe and sturdy tablet holder for the rear seats but surprisingly no one makes an aftermarket part that uses the headrest poles for the ultimate rigidity! These things don't move over any...

Upper control arm bushings , tesla wont replace

Try ShiftEV in Oakville. I bet they can supply and fix. Definitely not warrantable. I also have MPP coilovers (installed by Shift) and accept the fact if the upper control arms bushings go bad like they seem to, it's just something I've got to pay for now

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Yeah that's weird for 5/16“ OD vinyl tubing. Given your hatch stops are in quite a bit But it does look like your rubber gasket is a bit twisted (around the tail lights) post install. I'd try to straighten it out a little. But if that doesn't resolve it then I don't think you can use tubing or...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

Maybe try swapping out the tubing for something thinner? Or just make sure the tail light hatch stops aren't too over extended first off. If you unscrew them out completely temporarily does it close with an acceptable gap? If so, it's them. If not... Something isn't right with the tubing and the...

Weird can you post multiple pics of it closed and your hatch stops too. It shouldn't be that difficult or misaligned at the top against the sunroof. 5/16" OD right? Something seems weird. Edit nevermind I see your video. Those gaps aren't normal but I can't see the hatch stops. That's the...

    Camera Fog After Windshield Replacement

Ok so that trim pops off and that area isn't sealed air tight? I was thinking of just popping it up a hair to allow better air flow. I haven't had a chance yet to look at the service manual but if it's not some special air seal I might give your suggestion a go.

    Camera Fog After Windshield Replacement

Update: SC says the part number for the windshield has been recently updated, and there is a known issue that is supposed to be fixed by a future firmware update in regards to the camera heaters/defoggers. Not sure if I buy that but could be plausible. So for now, no impact detection or...

    Camera Fog After Windshield Replacement

Hey everyone, can't seem to find many instances of this online. Had windshield replaced. As soon as cold or wet weather approaches, I get jumpy FSD visuals and on/off Front Camera Blinded errors. I always precondition my car for like 15 minutes before going somewhere. Defog is on the entire...

Let's talk Lock Chimes. I spent about 30 minutes curating some sounds that I felt were sophisticated, short, and hopefully loud enough to hear on the PWS. I didn't want anything funny or corny. I've converted them all to wav and made sure they are under 1mb...

They are. But what I mean are they are just caps for the below. They are on an angle meant to align parallel to the stopper above. If you turn them, the surface area of contact will likely be lessened, which in theory, should be worse.

    Ear pain/Pressure help

100% I get the dread. It can be solved though it just depends on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. You don't need to remove the tubing I don't think, all the service centre will try to do is re-align your hatch door stops. Rarely they put in these additional rubber stoppers near the...

    Ear pain/Pressure help

The paper won't be held in by just the gasket itself, that's normal. You can add additional rubber seal, I can't say for sure it will do much. If you feel that it's still so-so, you can try upping the tubing to 3/8" OD (that is what I use). It's harder to get through and will result in more...

2023 Model Y Long Range Disappointment in boominess after Demo Drive

To me it looks significantly louder with it closed. That band is quite a lot brighter. I'd still do vinyl tubing in the gasket and re-adjust hatch stops after. The other sound source element is the rear wheel wells transmit sound easily into the cabin and can be resolved by sound deadening...

You won't make the seal worse. It's unlikely you will make the noise worse if you do it properly and take your time. It's easy to pull out the tube if you don't want it but it seems like 90% of people note some kind of improvement. It's easy to remove if you want to. Actually the harder thing...

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

Ah ok, interesting to know. I'm in Canada so similar weather conditions. I may do the exterior of the wheel wells as well. Regarding the vinyl tubing, since it's such a minor modification and you went this far, I would still suggest trying it since it only takes 10 minutes to put ~8mm tubing in...

    MYLR7 Sound Deadening

Wow that's quite the undertaking. Good job. If it were me I wouldn't focus on the doors. The resonance in this car I feel all starts at the suspension and then is worsened by the rigidity of the structure because of the battery. I've seen people apply deadening material to the exterior of the...

3D Printed Rigid Hatch Stops (to reduce uneven road noise)

I've adjusted mine easily over 100 times trying to be precise about it. 3/8" will increase your gap. 5mm does sound like a lot but I haven't taken a caliper to mine to see what it is. It will compress slightly, you just have to give it some time after installation and the tubing will be squished into place by the weight of the door.

2023 Model Y Long Range Disappointment in boominess after Demo Drive

Moving the striker down made it worse for me as well. Counter intuitive right? Are the gaps worse than other door panels? Don't forget this is a door gap which is different than a regular panel gap. It's unrealistic to expect that it should be super minimal. Extra gaskets along the hatch are...

2023 Model Y: Performance vs Acceleration Boost vs Long Range

Wait, when I bought Acceleration Boost 2 years ago, it said it would put 0-60 at ~4.2-4.1 seconds. And the MYP was 3.7 seconds at that time. Maybe I wasn't paying attention, but has it changed? Is my 2021 LR with Boost nearly as fast as a 2023 MYP?

That does seem counter-intuitive, usually the tubing adds extra height which then creates a gap between the stops. Theoretically, those air line tubes should be fine since they are also rigid. Is the rubber gasket straight and even with the tubing in? I wonder if the tubing pushed it to one...

Yeah, took me 3 hours just to do the trunk, first time doing that though. And doing it again I wouldn't bother to do sound deadening in all the places like the sub trunk which looks like it should contribute to noise but doesn't, or the outer facing body panels. Only the rear wheel wells...
