Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

Similar situation here. I have my export capped at 5500 for managing export rate (personal preference). I went to increase it before the event and it was already at 7850 (or something like that). I wasn’t sure if that was a fixed export rate for the event or if I didn’t have an export limit...

Can you track VPP earnings in the app after each event? Or do they make it more of a guessing came to know where you are.

Tesla Virtual Power Plant in CA

For those of you who participated in VPP last year - how well does the system do to minimize consumption during peak outside the hours of the VPP. For the event tonight it's at 7pm-9pm, but peak is 4pm-9pm. Will the system run in self powered mode outside of the VPP event? If the event was...

    Netzero App

Thanks! I did pause all of my automations. I would expect that only Self-Power or Time Based Controls could impact how it operates, but I agree that all settings may be disregarded. I don't see the reserve settings having an impact.

    Netzero App

@offandonagain Can there be an option in NetZero to disable all automations during VPP events? During these events the Powerwall is more or less under the control of Tesla, and will discharge to the grid during the event. I noticed today when my Powerwall was on self powered mode with a...

Powerwall Companion - updated Windows app

Update: My Gateway was completely reset (Grid Code missing, not "registered" to a customer account, CT configs, everything). I had to re-commission the whole thing and re-add it back to my tesla account (even though it was already there). The "My Home" view only showed my wall connector, and...

Powerwall Companion - updated Windows app

Today, Powerwall Companion is not loading any data. Any ideas? Edit: Actually it looks like even the Tesla App is not getting data, so likely a "mothership" issue. :( Edit 2: Powerwall / TEG is down at my house, so this is a "Me" issue. :( :(

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

You can also set the maximum import rate yourself via the Tesla One app. You can set it to limit import to xx,xxx watts. Once you log in, you should be able to connect to your backup gateway TEG-XXX SSID and password which is in the cabinet on a sticker (last 5 digits of the serial #...

    Extended warranty transfer

Just cancel it, and re-purchase it on the new vehicle. Or leave the money in savings until you need it, and then buy it down the road. https://www.tesla.com/support/extended-service-agreement#cancel

    Netzero App

It was a pretty rough day here in Southern CA. 5/15. A good day would have been 44kwH with my 6.6kw system. For my system the trend line is pretty accurate for reference.

How to Use Tesla Pro App as End User?

Great news! I’m glad you were able to get it fixed. Here in Southern CA our power rates are 0.24c off peak and 0.60c on peak. Next month it becomes 0.64c on peak for the summer rush. I also use about 1200-1400kwH per month, so the Powerwall is showing significant savings already (3 months...

How to Use Tesla Pro App as End User?

If a reboot and then an uninstallation and reinstallation of the app doesn't get you there then you will again need to call Tesla. :( I did this exact same thing, but since my PW2's were installed by a third party Tesla didn't offer any support "in-app". I instead had to reach out to...

How to Use Tesla Pro App as End User?

You can also try to put some pressure on the installer to commission at least the PW so you can manage it. If they say it is commissioned already then you’ll need to call Tesla.

How to Use Tesla Pro App as End User?

Actually, in that view there is the battery buffer, so I would say reserve is set at 15%. When mine is set to 10% that view shows 14% when it’s at the reserve.

How to Use Tesla Pro App as End User?

Using Tesla one, does it show your Tesla account details correct? Also, try renaming your “Home” for the wall connector and then logout/log in to the regular Tesla app. Maybe even removing it and re-installing it may help. Try those items and report back.

    Netzero App

This is not a huge issue, but I thought I would mention it. I have an automation to set the reserve level to 100% once the charge level reached 100%. I’m not sure why, but it looks like it ran twice today. I suspect that maybe the PW hit 100% then dipped to 99.99% and then went back to...

    Netzero App

So far reserve setting for VPP has not been modified by the automations. I'll report back if I see this happen again, but it may have been just tracking to the set reserve until the VPP reserve was set independently.

    Netzero App

I did. However I've changed it back to 10% and will report back tomorrow after automations to see if they are affected again.

    Netzero App

@offandonagain - Quick question about automations and reserve settings. It appears that currently when NetZero modifies the reserve setting, it is also affecting the VPP reserve setting. Can that be disabled, or made a separate option?

    Windshield woes

Wow. That really sucks. I’ve seen some windshield covers (like PPF) that can really help. In the end depends on Insurance and how much you want to pay. I have a $100 comprehensive deductible and that is said and done.

Should I upgrade to 6 Powerwalls?

Quick question around SCE and the VPP. I just received the VPP invition but it asked for my SDG&E account number. I just provided my SCE account #, but it may get rejected since they didn't have me in the right utility. My real question is this: Do you still get energy export credits from...

    Netzero App

I have all sorts of automations to get my system to behave exactly that way I want it to. The primary automations I have are: -- These first two help ensure I'll have enough charge to weather the PEAK 4p-9p time frame if solar production is low, it will charge from solar, and power the home...

    Netzero App

Thinking through this, an easy way to change the "Start Date" without having to go to settings, and then a + / - to adjust the end day for the Billing Month view. Aesthetically where to put this on the app, I'm not sure. :( Or worst case put the +/- in the setting page.
  29. OCJeff

    Netzero App

This is a really cool feature. I compared my usage for last month since my billing period just ended, but the Grid net consumption numbers were off by about 10%. I then double checked and my billing period ran 3/14 to 4/14 (32 days). Can you add an option to either have number of days in...

    Powerwall 2 Questions

It may not be that easy. You will need to commission the gateway before it will start charging the battery. It needs to talk to Tesla's servers for that.

Last night I set up automations to take action when a vehicle starts charging, and another action when it stops charging. Apparently it triggered the "Car stopped charging" automation erroneously in the middle of my charge. Is there anything I can do to ensure this doesn't happen? I'm not...

Powerwall Companion - updated Windows app

Also on 7.1.2 -- Mine shows them as stacked (just for the Grid and Battery usage). I think the "flat" view is cleaner and doesn't show the "Grid" or "Battery" icon twice.

Order before March 1 or wait until end of Q1

Just picked up the MYP (Stealth Grey) this past weekend. I've had a MYLR+AB with the induction wheels for almost 2.5 years (not a single scratch other than a tiny chip from road debris). A bit of advice -- Always be conscious of curbs, and turning radius. Never push it, better safe than...

MYP lease pickup Friday - can I wait to pay the upfront fees?

No, it was this way for my financed purchase back in 2021 as well (that was Irvine, CA this weekend I picked up a MYP in Long Beach and it was the same situation).

Should I upgrade to 6 Powerwalls?

New to Powerwall here, but not new to solar. I have a system that just received PTO for the Powerwall today, and my next question was with regards to the SGIP rebate. I was curious about exporting to grid during peak, and the only reference I found is that they actually REQUIRE you to export...

MYP lease pickup Friday - can I wait to pay the upfront fees?

I assume that you had no issues. I'm picking up tomorrow and still have the "Upfront payment" pending (I just ordered the MYP yesterday, Friday). I plan to pay after I visually inspect the exterior of vehicle. In CA historically they will not open the vehicle until you have completed the...

@tomho Just a thought here... The Peak/OffPeak separators are hard to see on the black background (in fact I didn't even know they were there until I zoomed in for this screenshot). Could we add an option make that bar solid colors (green/red/yellow) similar to the "Self Consumption" bar at...
