Took around 7-10 days as far as I recall. I'd think 2 weeks at most

    Replika R241 Wheels

Assuming the question is for a Model Y, not Model 3, since this is the Model Y forum. Also question states 9.5 being the default (which is only the case for Model Y). Main advantage is that the wheels are not wider than the tires, which means that in case you are very close to, or just hitting...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

In Mexico it downgrades to standard AP (as soon as you cross the border). Interestingly enough, on the way back, it takes quite a long time after crossing the border before FSD is available again. It only becomes available once the car has been parked for a while.

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

It's unrelated to FSD - all new vehicles sold after that data must have this. I would think most of the functionality is already there in terms of warning the driver in case of speeding, though it will likely need changes/additions to comply with the exact rules.

California Utilities Plan All Out War On Solar, Please Read And Help

AB1999 has been resurrected, but with a $24 fixed fee limit (and no allowed increases, which is at least better than the CPUC ruling).

California Utilities Plan All Out War On Solar, Please Read And Help

I think this could eventually end up as a ballot initiative, and then the IOUs will use massive amounts of money for advertising against it :( Similar to what happened with Lyft and Uber.

Not showing on the Android app (I have 2024.3.25).

Living with the 16v LV battery

Any properly designed automotive radar detector would have overvoltage protection. Or even work at any voltage between 12 and 24V (and probably a bit higher).

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

And virtually all of those 'reasons' still apply, only now when backing out of the parking spot instead of backing in I guess a real reason could be that backing up into a parking spot isn't required for passing your test in the US, so many drivers have no experience with it (as opposed to e.g...

Reminds me of driving on Hwy 85 near Phoenix a few years ago :)

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

There's an 'avoid/use HOV lanes' option in the navigation settings. Did you set that to 'avoid'? BTW: I usually have the opposite problem, car likes to exit the HOV lane 10 miles before an upcoming exit navigation plans to take. Though possible map data is outdated, this is going north on I-5...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

My experience as well - there are certain roads where it will always have the wrong speed limit (like 25 on a 40mph road), until it reads a speed sign, other roads it seems to depend on how you entered the road (e.g. driving straight, or taking a left or right turn on it, experience mainly with...

    Elon: FSD Beta tweets

I don't see any major problems with trying to do the calibration during factory production. However, working on a consumer product that could benefit from this, it's probably just too complex/expensive in terms of equipment, time, and process. Though indeed it is possible that it also...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Last thing that happens frequently is wrong speed limit (shown a upper right of current speed). Maybe autospeed is implemented to somehow mitigate that... I have that switched off btw. Usual scenario is that you take a right or left turn, and the speed limit stays the same whether it is higher...
  15. F

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

In California (at least) there is a minimum yellow time dictated by the speed limit. This was a way to get red light tickets tossed out (if the particular traffic light didn't adhere to the minimum).
  16. F

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Indeed exactly my experience on MM Blvd. As well, it's driving in the middle lane around 35-40 mph, left lane is free, and it doesn't move into the left lane to speed up.
  17. F

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I wondered why I didn't see anyone reporting this - this happens a lot for me, and it is rather unsafe with cars behind you. It even happens when making a left turn, instead of going deliberately in the turn lane, it drives in the middle in between the straight and turn lane way too long, and I...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Good point, didn't think of that. So that would likely require some kind of fallback to v11, which it already does when on freeways. Transition while driving on city streets might be a bit tricky I guess. On the other hand, we can already change over by changing the driver profile, which...
  19. F

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Just got this, and few observations on the first drive - as multiple posts above, speed control is worse than v11. It's way too chilled in the middle setting, sometimes drives way below the set speed even without any other traffic or other reasons to do that (I disabled auto speed after a few...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I'm guessing (even though it is safer to do) it would be a traffic violation to drive on the shoulder. It definitely is in California. You'll have to wait for a large enough gap in the traffic. I do recall driving in NJ and indeed it can be a pain to merge onto such a road with continuous...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Just to point to the inconsistency - a few versions ago FSD slowed down the car down way too late and had to brake hard for a right-turn from a 50 mph (3 lanes each way) road into a residential road close to my home. It wasn't unsafe but not something any driver would do normally. After a few...

    Model Year 2024 Model Y

I think the comment is more that in Tesla's case that isn't a guarantee (like it is with other car brands). It's much more based on the specific configuration (like HW4) which isn't tied to model years for Tesla. As an aside, I never understood the US obsession with car model years in terms of...

Tax credit 2023 [The tax credit discussion thread]

If the tax credit changes, it won't be for model year 2024 MYs (though Tesla doesn't really use model years as other car manufacturers), but for a sale happening after January 1, 2024. (Or any other date that the law changes the requirements.)

    FSD Beta v11.x

Those dry wipes never happened (or maybe once in a blue moon) on older firmwares. So it's definitely a regression. It's so bad that I switched the wipers to 'off'. Admittedly it hardly ever rains in SoCal :) Dry wipes happened every time when getting into the car (after opening the garage door)...

Correct, but Tesla was keeping this for themselves until that recent (apparent) change

    FSD Beta v11.x

I've still got problems with FSD switching back and forth between 20 and 25 mph just about every side street in a residential area (where the speed limit is 25 everywhere). I need to check more carefully next time, but I think that if you're not using FSD, the speed limit actually stays at 25, I...

    FSD Beta v11.x

There is no way to manually check for updates (or at least only anecdotal evidence that you can do that). Though just going into the software screen indeed sometimes seems to update the date it last checked, whether that's just the UI being updated slowly or an actual check is impossible to tell.

Does everyone use Time of Use Electricity rates?

Not that expensive compared to 82c (SDG&E EV-TOU5 summer between 4 and 9 pm) :) I only wished I could have your rates (they seem really low for SoCal). This rate does have 15c from midnight to 6AM though (but also a $16/month fixed fee). BTW: I do have a spreadsheet to compare the various TOU...

    Model Y Suspension Suggestions

With the new comfort suspension I'm kind of surprised that anyone would be thinking of spending quite a lot of money on aftermarket coilovers to improve the comfort. I did get the UPP coilovers on the 2020 LR Y (19" Replika R241/OEM tire size), which made an incredible difference. However, I...

Tesla unable to transfer FSD due to firmware compatibility?

And indeed you would have had to explicitly acknowledge that to proceed with the delivery (or ordering, can't recall exactly when this pops up). BTW: I can understand that Smart Summon will take a while, but basic summon should work ok with the current state of camera object/distance detection...

    Self-referral benefits

That doesn't matter - your friend will not get the referral benefit as you already owned a Tesla (at least that is the consensus). Possible workaround might be to have someone else in your household order the new Tesla.

Why did Tesla remove option to disable regenerative braking?

There's nothing wrong with adding blended braking, while keeping the existing regen as it is, and adding a config slider for regen. As others have said in this thread, people who are happy with the way it currently works, just keep regen at 100% and nothing will change for them, while others...

Tesla unable to transfer FSD due to firmware compatibility?

Yes it's pretty annoying. If you don't have the cash available, no idea if a bank or credit union can get you some kind of bridge loan for a couple of days.
  46. F

Tesla unable to transfer FSD due to firmware compatibility?

I'd be very careful, as you would be breaking the conditions of the transfer rules - so basically Tesla can just pull FSD from the new vehicle if they find out you have sold the 'donor' vehicle before taking possession of the new one. I'd only try that if you can get written confirmation that...
  47. F

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

I guess it's the typical Tesla style where they just make up the rules... I'd argue that only the written rules are binding, though it will likely take a major effort to keep Tesla to those when something does go wrong.
  48. F

    Order Process for FSD Transfer

That's not what is in the FSD transfer terms - the vehicle has to be registered in your name at the point of taking possession of the new vehicle. But it would be a sensible thing to wait with selling it until the FSD transfer completes in case there is some kind of hiccup with the transfer.

Should have thought of that as it works the same on the car's screen.
