Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

I can get the Tesla rack for free with loyalty points. Seems the good suction ones are upwards of $500.

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

Unfortunately I live in the city and have no garage nor any space to store a trailer. But yes, that would be the ideal option. I do have the two hitch. And I'm trying to remember why I thought that would be something I could use!

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

I just got my MY and would like to be able to do two things with it. 1) Occasionally carry a kayak or stand up paddle board to the beach. 2) A couple times a year, slowly and carefully, transport 4x8 sheets (maybe two or three, max) of plywood back to my house from the lumber yard 10 minutes...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

If something really extreme happens at Tesla, have we figured out if we can block any kind of catastrophic update from being installed without otherwise hosing the functionality of the car--functionality such as navigation with traffic, infotainment, etc. (pretty much anything that requires an...

Downgraded Audio? Might want to let buyers know [rwd vs awd]

Interesting. My dual motor Model Y drives incredibly smooth in chill mode, as did my similar M3. How much more smooth can it be? Regarding range, what is the real world difference in range?

Downgraded Audio? Might want to let buyers know [rwd vs awd]

Interesting! I always wondered what “partial premium” meant. Now I know. But what a funny phrase. Kind of like “partial zero emissions vehicle”. It either is or it isn’t! And in this case, it isn’t premium.

    Black and white seats... regrets?

I'm now 6,000 miles in with the white after many years with the black. White is so much better. Car feels more open. And zero issues with keeping it clean. Honestly spit on a paper towel and wipe. (Don't tell my wife and kids I said that.)

    Battery health tracking SS

Meaning held at 55% on average, right? Most work days I charge to 70 or 80% starting at 5am and drive it to work. I arrive at work around 55%, and when I get home at 6:30pm, I’m around 38% where it generally sits until 5am. Weekends sometimes I just charge to 55%. There are some weekdays I...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Just installed 2024.3.6 on my new 2023 (I got one of the last ones in February) MY. I have 250 miles of driving between Thursday and Saturday. Looking forward to trying out 12.3.2.1.go….

All I can say after almost 6 years of ownership

I just traded in my 2019 M3 for a new MY. I had 106,000 miles on it. I did have a few repairs over the years, but overall not bad. Had to replace the suspension, which was dumb, because it was only a few months before I traded the car in, but at the time I thought I’d be keeping it for a while...

    Black and white seats... regrets?

I had black seats in my black M3. I have white in my new silver metallic MY. White all the way. And…my wife loves it. Bonus! Looking forward to a bit of a cooler car this summer. The black on black was brutal. Also, every mark, bit of dirt, etc. has come off easily with a couple rubs with a...

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

That’s a valid point. But my Chill+ would only kick in at 100% to the floor. Or close to that anyway.
  13. D

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

I need that Kick Down mode! I have another thread on here somewhere where I talk about how Tesla needs a “Chill+” mode where if you floor it, you get the full acceleration, but otherwise it’s chill mode. Anyway, first year or two with my Tesla I was in Normal mode. Now I’m in chill 99% of the...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

I scrolled up a bit to try to understand the context of this post. But I’m very confused by it still!

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

That’s a really good question! I guess I did well with the M3, and I want to do at least as well with the MY.

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

Hard to say. I had the 2019 M3 for 4 1/2 years and drove it 106,000 miles. The degradation was not bad, but it was there, and more than I wanted. The Stats app reported the car to have about 284 miles of range when I traded it in. When I first got the car, I would charge immediately when...

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

Just did a similar thing. I generally check it every night, but last night I was so tired from the trip that I forgot. It’s sat around all day today at 86%. I know that’s not as big of a deal. But it’s a new tesla and I’m trying to do this one right. With my previous M3, I took the party line...

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

It really seems like the Medusa is the way to go. I bought some cheaper ones on Amazon that were supposed to be symmetrical and slightly improve range. Of course they arrived all four covers identical. I have been trying to deal with non-English-speaking Chinese customer service reps over email...

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles to limit use of Autopilot

I think the biggest issue here is ultimately that strikes never disappear after some period of good driving. I don’t know what the percentage is, but I think many of us will end up with five strikes, not because we’re terrible drivers, but because “things” happen over time. I got my first...

    Interior Door Protection

This is an example of what I'm talking about. There are no reviews of this product so I have no idea if it works well. Other similar products on Amazon get poor reviews. https://evwraps.com/products/model-y-door-kick-guard I don't need it to cover the whole area. I just need to protect about...

    Interior Door Protection

After many years with my 2019 M3, I just got a new MY and I want to protect the lower interior of the driver's side door. I always kick that part of the door to get the door open. I often have things in my hand and it's just easier to do that. I made a minor mess of my M3's door. The fabric...

"Proactive" 12v battery replacement - good idea or overkill?

About a year and a half ago I responded to this thread saying that I proactively replaced my 12v in my M3 and had no regrets. Now I have a new MY that I took delivery of a month ago (although it is a '23.) Is there any change to this calculation? I presume I have the 15v battery now. Is the...

Credits: Enticing us to get Acceleration Boost?

I charge at home, and rarely need to supercharge except on long trips. That said, I would definitely buy the supercharger miles if they didn’t expire so quickly. When I first bought my M3, I had 5000 free supercharger miles. I might’ve used 10% of them before they expired. And I’m kind of OCD...

Credits: Enticing us to get Acceleration Boost?

In nearly 5 years of owning a Tesla, I have found *very* few instances of 3rd party chargers being useful. The supercharger network is vast and convenient. A few times I have used 3rd party J1772 chargers while parked at shopping centers, sports events with my kids, etc., just because they...

Credits: Enticing us to get Acceleration Boost?

I wonder if $2000 of something not particularly useful, but arguably fun once in a while, is really better then $400 of something I’d consider essential…. Unsure. Does anyone know if we can buy 4 years of premium connectivity service all at once (before the credits expire)?

Credits: Enticing us to get Acceleration Boost?

I just got my MY and I’m loving it. I now have 10,000 credits in my Tesla store account. I’m not really sure if there’s anything in there that’s a better value than acceleration boost. I don’t think it’s even close. If I needed a wall connector, or a roof rack, those would probably be...

    Model Y Car Mat Suggestions

Did you get the version one or version two of the seatback protectors? I want it to match the cargo mat. But I can’t tell which one will match correctly. Their website makes an attempt to explain the difference between version one and version two, but it’s completely meaningless!

And for $2,000 you can get the acceleration boost to kind of get you closer to the MYP performance. I’m in Mass. too. I got basically the same deal as you. Hard to pass up if you are in the market!

Trading in my M3 for MY - Sales process is a JOKE!

Yes, it all went smoothly in the end. I got an incredible rate (5.5% on a 60 month loan) from a local credit union. I have the MY. Loving it and not missing the M3 as much as I thought I would.

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

So you're saying buy those for $1700, get awesome wheels that look great and don't have rims that stick out for curb rash, put my existing OEM tires on those wheels, and then sell the OEM wheels? Not a bad idea. How much did you get for your Geminis on CL? Mine have 75 miles on them.
  36. D

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

Well, what I meant was, I'll spend $300 to get what I want, vs. $125 cheapos on Amazon with trade-offs. $1,700 on new rims would probably buy me a divorce!

    Model Y Car Mat Suggestions

Question about the trunk mat. If I am folding down the rear seats, and need to slide a long item in from the hatch all the way up to the back of the front seats, like my 88-note digital piano in a gig bag, or a long Ikea box, for example, will that lip on the mat make this difficult?

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

After 100,500 miles on my beloved 2019 M3, I traded in "The Tesla" today for a new MY. In the last few weeks, I have read A LOT of threads on Gemini wheel covers...

Trading in my M3 for MY - Sales process is a JOKE!

Is there any real data on the Medusa’s efficiency? I feel these claims of efficiency are easily completely made up. And I’m kind of OCD when it comes to range. I do NOT want to lose any range due to the wheel covers!

Trading in my M3 for MY - Sales process is a JOKE!

I like the way the M3 drives better than the MY. And I like the way the M3 looks, better than the Y. I especially like my original Aero wheels/covers better than the hideous Geminis on the Y. But it's time to move on. I have three teenagers now. I often load up the M3 on trips to our...

Trading in my M3 for MY - Sales process is a JOKE!

I close the deal Thursday at 5pm. All my ducks are lined up. I do feel like they dragged me through the mud. And I’m upset they low-balled me on the trade. But I’m looking forward to the MY. At the same time, I’m a bit sad to lose the M3. What a great car that was for me. My first “nice” car...

    Autopilot/FSD Pedestrian Accident

Remember, it's proof "beyond a reasonable doubt" (generally considered to be >90%). Not "more probably than not" (51%). That's a high bar. Anyway, I'm not claiming to support any of these ideas, just playing devil's advocate! 👿

Trading in my M3 for MY - Sales process is a JOKE!

Yes, this necessity of owning two cars for as much as 48 hours is a real deal-breaker, and may basically force me to trade in with Tesla even though they are low-balling me by $2,000. It was pointed out to me today that in trading the car with Tesla, it will reduce the effective price of the...

Trading in my M3 for MY - Sales process is a JOKE!

    Autopilot/FSD Pedestrian Accident

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, yes, of course he had his car repaired. As we have told you, he knew he hit something. But he had no idea what he hit because he was on his phone. And he was on his phone because he was in a Tesla, and had engaged the car's "Autopilot" feature, which is part...

    Autopilot/FSD Pedestrian Accident

I'm an attorney with some experience in criminal law. Not my full-time gig though. That said, I think the idea is that the lawyer knows the client will ultimately be found to have been the person driving the car who killed this victim. He now needs to create reasonable doubt as to his...

    Autopilot/FSD Pedestrian Accident

It amazes me how many people I see on their phone while driving cars that do not have anything even remotely close to what our Teslas have. Tesla and autopilot are not the problem. People are. I’m convinced, if everybody owned a Tesla, there would be fewer deaths overall.

Ready to order MYLR but have EAP question

I know. I’ll probably end up doing that. It’s just so frustrating that they make it so hard. If they don’t want to give me a fair trade-in price, at least make the process not completely ridiculous for me to go elsewhere.
