    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I saw a new '24 today in my work garage with white sport/Plaid seats. Have we already had people reporting taking deliveries of Plaids with the new seats?

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Very helpful thank you. Exactly what I was referring to. I keep itching to pull the trigger on a new S order so I'm going through my mental checklist of things that would push me over the edge. One last question - I know the S got a slightly revised steering wheel to move the horn activation to...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

What do we call this new/updated Bluetooth functionality? I thought I saw notes about the ability to pair two phones at once, and an improved Bluetooth chipset/revision that would allow for better performance when using the phone key. Even the '23 Model 3 is a bit temperamental about...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I don't expect the first three to happen, but the last three would be practical upgrades from Tesla and would make me seriously consider an order. The current S doesn't have the new(?) Bluetooth functionality as seen with the Highland Model 3, right?

Tesla Partnership with Buc-ee's (26 New Locations)

The new Hillsboro, TX Bucee's doesn't have Superchargers??

Have they finally fixed the Model S yet? Interested in 2024 plaid.

What do you mean by 'latest battery technology'? Still has 18650, right? I'm going to test drive a new Model S tomorrow and just want to be informed.

    Having trouble with Ubertine rims

This is why I replaced my 20" Uberturbines with 19" Sport V2. It wasn't 'if' I would bend a wheel, but 'when'. I previously had the original 20" Performance wheels on my '20 M3P. I never had a blowout with those, but the ride was always bad. And the Uberturbines are 9" wide vs 8.5" so the...

    Improved side camera

Purple tint still there on the 32.7 update.
  9. T

    Improved side camera

The purple tint is not related to the actual light output of the blinker. Sometimes it looks fine for 20 seconds, other times it's immediately purple and stays that way.
  10. T

    Improved side camera

No one is talking about the 'light bleed issue' on this thread. Just the purple tint. Which got bad with 32.4 and is not better with 32.6 that I got yesterday.
  11. T

    Improved side camera

I got 2023.32.4 yesterday on my '23 Model 3. While the overall color of the side cameras is better, the occasionally have a very noticeable purple tint when using the blinker. It's hard to replicate, but happens regularly.

    2023 Model 3 Flickering Headlights?

Holy cow one of mine does too! Although it's not as bad as yours, and I can't confirm 100% it's an actual fingerprint. I'm going to call it a 'smudge' so it doesn't drive me bonkers :)
  13. T

    2023 Model 3 Flickering Headlights?

Mobile service just swapped out both lights. Zero hassles. Since it's only 80ºF today, there's no way to test to see if the issue is resolved.
  14. T

*sigh* Rookie Question about A/C ... why is it running when parked in my garage?

Are you sure it's the A/C 'on', or are you just hearing your car spinning fans in the garage?
  15. T

    2023 Model 3 Flickering Headlights?

Well I was able to capture it on video today for ticket submission, and schedule a mobile appointment for next week. I wasn't keen on the idea of actually taking it into the service center, but since they can come to me, I don't have much to lose.
  16. T

    2023 Model 3 Flickering Headlights?

I'm not sure if it's worth the headache. It would be difficult for Tesla to reproduce, as the car needs to be sitting in ~110ºF+ temps for a sustained period, then quickly be in a scenario where the lights must come on before the headlights naturally cool off. It's not a safety issue.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Nice. So you would do it all over again? Does the dip wear/flake off just with age, or does it take an actual impact to make it look bad? Can you link to the product you used?
  18. T

    2023 Model 3 Flickering Headlights?

Any updates? 2023.26.8 didn't 100% resolve for me. Car was outside for 30+ min on a hot (105ºF) day and there was flickering when I pulled into my garage. The outside of the headlights felt very hot, as expected.

Are those the OEM sport V2s, just painted black? If so, how did you paint/dip?

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

By definition, Tesla let the press drive/review specific Highland cars that the public cannot buy, and does not have access to. Hence, they can literally be defined as ‘press cars’.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Technically the infotainment computer is separate from the self driving (HW1/2/2.5/3/4) computer we typically refer to. And we know for sure that Highland has a variant of the Ryzen system found on today's Model 3. But I would be shocked if the self-driving computer in Highland wasn't HW4, upon...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

There’s no HW4 in these press cars we’ve seen so far?
  23. T

    2023 Model 3 Flickering Headlights?

Thanks for the info. I am 100% confident the behavior is caused by heat. I can only replicate if the car has been outside in 110F temps. 100F or even 105F is fine. Good to know that it can be addressed by firmware. Even if it couldn’t be fixed, the scenario where it gets that hot, and...

    Headlight flashing after update?!?

Oh dang, I have this problem too! 2023 Model 3 P w/matrix. However, I've only noticed it so far in the heat of the day (110ºF/46ºC) when I pull into my garage the headlights turn on. Seems like this is something that would be caught during warm weather testing? If heat really is a factor...

Bumping because this is happening to me - 2023 Model 3 P w/matrix. However, I've only noticed it so far in the heat of the day (110ºF/46ºC) when I pull into my garage the headlights turn on. Texas question - tax savings on trade-in value?

The tax credit doesn't show up until they send you the registration paperwork that you take to the DMV (along with a check) to pay taxes on the car.
  27. T

Texas question - tax savings on trade-in value?

I don't recall taxes ever showing up in the app. But the trade-in credit should, possibly after you accept the financing and the amounts are calculated.

Discussion : All discussion regarding Model 3 and Tax credit in model 3 subforum

The Tesla bean counters know exactly what they're doing. Which is why you see the price of certain 3/Y combos float above or right below the threshold. This has been going on for months.

    New M3P have lowered suspension?

I would believe that. In my purely unscientific, but genuinely anecdotal experience of owning a '20 M3P and a '23 M3P - they seem the exact same to me.

Best, must-have Model 3 Accessories/Brands? (2023) - floor mats, sun shades, organizer, mud flaps, etc...

I like the Spidgen anti-glare screen protector. Easy to install and the anti-glare really helps.

    New M3P have lowered suspension?

Good point about parking sensors. But, 'they'll be back' before too long so it's going to be a moot point eventually.
  32. T

    New M3P have lowered suspension?

The list of improvements/differences from my '20 M3P to my '23 are as follows. There is nothing better about the '20, IMO. 75kWh battery to 82kWh (improved range and 0-60 time) Intel Atom (MCU2) to AMD Ryzen (MCU3) - much faster/responsive main screen, now includes Zoom app resistive heating...

    New M3P have lowered suspension?

I went from a '20 Model 3 Performance to a '23 Model 3 Performance. The newer car is tremendously better.

Model 3 Performance Changed 20" OEM Wheels to 19" OEM Wheels - The Economics and the Pros & Cons

I went from OEM 20s to OEM 19s Sport V2s on my '23 Model 3 Performance. I previously spent 3 years with a '20 M3P on the 20s, so I'm very familiar with the pros and cons. I don't notice any difference in steering sharpness. I do notice a difference in comfort, especially over broken roads. And...

Upset that Vehicle expected date is moving around!

It's not 'unreliable supply', it's more a factor of 'margin of error'. This is common for every automaker, and other industries heavily dependent on the global supply chain. You never did answer... what new-car-buying experience are you comparing this to?
  36. T

Texas question - tax savings on trade-in value?

yeah get ready to take a big check to the Tax office and wait around for a couple of hours to pay/get your plates.
  37. T

Upset that Vehicle expected date is moving around!

Serious question: have you ever ordered a brand new car before? BMW can't tell you exactly when your car will be delivered. Even when you do get an allocation/production week, that is highly subject to change. You give the example they can deliver 100 cars per month, and they know how many...

Are new 2023 RWD (or AWD) Model 3 coming with yellow rear indicators and revised brake lights?

My '23 Performance 3 has the new tail lights that behave like the Model Y. What about RW/AWD? Not sure if AWD are currently being delivered... Further info and pictures: Tesla updates Model 3 taillights in North America to add amber turn signals and more

    DIY PPF

I got a clear 3M Pro PPF via eBay to wrap my front bumper. Whew, it was hard. I prepared as best I could by watching videos, and had already had some practice with rear bumper PPF I've done in the past. I am patient, and have a good eye for detail. But wrapping a car is much harder than it...

Is it possible to drift a Tesla Model 3 on a track better than a 350z?

Bad phrasing on my part, obviously the power from the front motor can't magically transfer to the rear motor. However, I didn't realize your selection was overridden when the wheels were straight.
  44. T

Is it possible to drift a Tesla Model 3 on a track better than a 350z?

If you have a Performance Model 3, you can put 95% of the power to the rear, so drifting should be quite easy/fun. Especially considering it has more power than a 350Z.

Going to rent a Model 3 before delivery

Each of those things take getting used to, in any new car. If you’re used to driving a 2002 Camry, a 2023 BMW 5-series will feel uncomfortably stiff and awkward to sit in. Now if you truly can’t make an objective decision about if a 5-series or E-class is a better fit without spending time in...

Going to rent a Model 3 before delivery

Agreed, it's probably recommended. However, it really just depends on your personality. I consider myself educated, adaptable, and ready for technology. Others are more traditional, resistive to change, and just have a natural tendency for slower adoption to new tech. The "logic" of not...

2023 Model 3 without USS and proximity functionality [park assist / summon not available]

As @MP3Mike says, the $350 isn't even a bad value because now the used prices creep closer to $250. The only bad part about having Tesla install it, they put it behind the front bump cover, instead of underneath the frunk tray. Which means it's a PITA if you ever want to remove it later...
