I fitted my coolant delete manifold at the weekend. The speed sensor had one drop of fluid on it and it felt slightly damp inside. I didn't disconnect the axles: I pivoted it on the front mounting after unbolting the rear and side mountings. It's rebuilt and seems to drive normally .

I wasn't advocating the o ring idea, just added to the discussion. Mine was sealed with gasket sealant and pressed in. I hope to fit it to the drive motor soon.

Just read this on Facebook. He's added a groove to fit an O ring.

I love the way the enthusiasts work together on this forum. I wouldn't even have known about the LDU seal problem without TMC. The early S may have its foibles , but it is a pioneering vehicle and deserves to be kept on the road.

I attempted to copy your leak test. In a bucket of water at 30psi on a tyre pump, no air leaks. I think the bead of sealant worked.

I put a bead of gasket sealant under the lip before I pressed it in. I like your pressure test system. I'll try that.

That's one thing I don't like about my old S, can't have a towbar.

2014 Model S 85

I have a 2014 85S. It had a new drive unit 5 years ago . Recently, I've heard a humming noise on regen, but only after a long journey and the drive unit is presumably hot. I wasn't sure if it was the motor or the tyres, as they are almost due for replacement.

I'm trying this setting: Display, energy saving, always connected. So far it hasn't failed where it has before.

Did yo Did you cut the front lower aft link bolts? I spent 2 hours cutting one side off using a black and decker scorpion. The other side I cut all around the bolt then tightened the nut to snap it off: much quicker.

I agree with this. This week, I had to replace the front, lower aft links as the MOT tester felt movement. I hadn't noticed it. After changing the links, the ride definitely improved.

My 2014 S (RHD UK), mcu1 has frozen several times in the past three weeks. I rebooted it 4 times, but it froze again. The last thing I did was power off and wait 5 minutes. It's been ok since.
