    Tesla BEV Competition Developments

The funny thing is that GM has been selling EVs and PHEVs under the Buick nameplate for years in China. Yet they haven't bothered to bring them here. It is too bad - because I've owned a number of Buicks over the years (and still own one). My first new car was a '78 Regal Sport Coupe (turbo)...

Where to report that a destination charger has been removed?

At least make sure plugshare shows the correct status. You can edit the details yourself, and of course, leave a review.

Is it over? YouTube video says EVs are DONE.

Speaking of youtube videos, this one is well worth recommending to anyone's EV-doubting friends. Narrated by Robert Llewellyn (Kryten on the old Red Dwarf TV series).

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Yup. Layoffs can be brutal. It often doesn't matter who you are. Just where you are positioned on an org chart. I witnessed it several times in my career in tech.

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Friend of mine does a somewhat weekly podcast on various solar/energy topics. Here is his take on the Supercharger staff cuts: https://www.energyshow.biz/post/elon-musk-is-right-about-the-supercharger-business

    All discussion of Lucid Motors

Rivian seems to be heading in the right direction towards profitability. It will be interesting to see what the effects of their recent factory improvements have on COGS over the next few quarters. If I were interested in a Lucid, I'd lease it. Reportedly they were offering some great lease...

Superchargers in Northern California (location speculation)

As long as Tesla's name is NOT at the top of the charging pedestal, I don't care. To me, one of the biggest mistakes Chargepoint, EVgo, and the like have made was placing their name on the charging stations. Yet responsibility for paying for the maintenance was that of the site operator. If...

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

There are decades of RV folks using 14-50s on the road, and installing them at their homes. Ten years ago, it was basically the fastest way to drive cross country in an EV. The charging infrastructure has changed dramatically since then. However even now there are still some rural areas...

    Wall vs Mobile vs @#$%

You can set the Tesla Wall Connector for various max amperages from 12 to 48 amps. So if I were in your shoes, I'd get it, pull out the 14-50 receptacle, and reuse the wiring for the TWC. You can then set the max amperage as appropriate for your wiring/breaker via an app on your phone. I...

Is disabling battery preconditioning now supported?

On a road trip last week, I noticed that when a Supercharger site is the next stop and battery preconditioning is happening, I can now touch the preconditioning message on the screen and it disappears. However when I watch the energy display after doing this, there is still power being consumed...

    Donglemania: fail

Unless your wall connector is on a 120V circuit, there is no neutral connection. So it would be a 240V only connection. There are a couple of adapters available from evseadapters, and no doubt others, to go from J1772 plug to a NEMA style receptacle. But again, 240V only.

    Electrify Everything

He is counting large hydro in the mix. Which, strangely, California doesn't count as a "renewable". But yeah - the CA ISO stats in the recent past have been fun to watch. California ISO - Supply, Today's Outlook

Wiki Largest gaps between Superchargers on US Interstates

I'd like to see one in Liberal KS - which is on US 54, and very near where US 160 crosses it. Meade KS would work as well. Back in my college days, I used to drive US 54 a lot. So it is a route I like to keep an eye on. But more likely they'd want to put one in Wellington KS as it is an exit...

What's with all the 6 kW public L2 chargers? Why is it so rare to find faster AC charging options?

Gen 1 UMC does a full 40 amps. There are others on the market as well.

What's with all the 6 kW public L2 chargers? Why is it so rare to find faster AC charging options?

RV parks could give you 10 kW, instead of 6 kW via their 14-50 receptacles.
