Not answering your question but the inconvenience of using the key card is not worth it. Use your insurance in the extremely unlikely case that someone steals your car. Not worth worrying about. Your car is not especially valuable and other cars are easier to steal.

This happened to me after a windshield replacement. The cameras were misaligned (pointed down) in the front mirror housing. Tesla fixed it free in less than an hour.

No offense but it seems like you’re way overthinking this. It’s not “risky” to let Tesla repair it, I’m sure you’re not the first 2018 to replace a windshield.

Are you using sentry mode? Try disabling it and rebooting the car. No clue why or if it’s a coincidence, but seemed to work for me. Sentry mode isn’t really necessary for me because I park in a safe location.

camera is physically out of alignment inside the casing. I had this issue after a windshield replacement. Took it to Tesla and they fixed it for free.

Older model 3s had 3 pins for outer instead of 4. Adapter is needed if your car only has 3 pins.

Not doing it doesn’t mean it’s impossible, it could just be low priority. The atom still runs everything it needs to, so why would anyone want to upgrade right now even if Tesla offered? People willing to upgrade right now would be limited to hardcore in car gamers and people who use the web...

My point was that voltage isn’t the problem (quoted post said 16v vs 12v means they need to redo the electrical system).

Or a simple 12v-16v step up converter added to the MCU. They’re like 20 bucks full retail.
