Thinking about getting a Model Y

i would wait for the refresh. The new model 3 is substantially improved, as will be the next Y. Ride in particular is stunningly better. I love ours, but it’s local / short range trip optimal. For anything over 100 miles trip management, at least to some degree, is required. I’m on...

Stock Negative Camber Intentional by Tesla?

A few degrees of camber should not (opinion), alter the amount of tire patch in contact with the ground or rolling resistance. It will affect load of the tire patch (more tire evenly loaded with camber closer to zero), but that should help resistance, not hurt it. I suspect it's all in the new...

    Any hacks to erase strikes?

OP: I have no personal knowledge and advise against over-riding any factory safety device or process. However, over the weekend I was out riding with a friend (new to me motorcycle) and stopped for lunch in a sports bar. During same I overheard a guy claiming he taped over a Tesla inside...

    Supercharger - East Peoria, IL

No change, stopped by just the other day. I also talked to a Tesla Supercharger maintenance guy I bumped into in Iowa. Interesting conversation. Some things of interest: 1) Nobody, as far as he knows, knows the status of any of the "in progress" installations, and maintenance can't do...

    14-50 requirements

So: 1) In almost all code situations individual wire would need to be in conduit. Plastic would be ok, but in conduit. 2) If THHN, I would have expected a 50 amp breaker on that circuit. Yes, the 80% rule applies, but you do not downrate the breaker. Ever. 3) Sure, the EVSE you have...

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

    Well, you’re consistent.

    charging time

You should always be charging to your desired state of charge when possible. Many of us charge to 55% as a day to day standard (better for the battery), but charge to what we may need on the occasion warranted. Best practice then would be to charge higher just before use/needed thus...

Lesson for Tesla Owners - Tire Service from Tesla or not

by tire repair standards, and all I saw mimic what I linked to, it’s repairable. Me? I’d buy a used rim and put that tire into service again. I’d also make it part of my tire rotation plan. If you rotate every 7k miles you should be able to balance wear out across all 5 tires.

Poll: Do You Plug In Every Day (for daily driving, home charging)?

Thanks for more details. I’m not familiar with that conclusion. It appears you’re telling me if I charge to 55% (as I do for winter), and discharge to 15% it has more degradation than if I discharge to 30%, recharge, and repeat. Counter-intuitive to me (higher average SoC), but that’s why I...

Poll: Do You Plug In Every Day (for daily driving, home charging)?

E, you’ve made that statement twice just in this thread. I also see you own an LR, so we’re talking about “standard” nmc anode lion cells.. i know of no data that supports this, nor anybody well versed that says it. calendar aging is of course accelerated by very high rates...

Someone using my home charger while I’m on vacation?

Yes. The Wall Monitor app polls the wall charger and has day by day charge stats.

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

I don’t know any that have studied this that doubt degradation occurs to nmc lion cells charged at rates of 1c and higher. As I recall this is attributed to plating acceleration. Such can be exacerbated by high C rates of charge or discharge as well of higher SoC. course the Tesla BMS, in...

Is it better for my car to spend more time at 50% or have shallower discharge cycles but spend more time at a higher state of charge.

Jax, obviously most of use feel aakee has a strong understanding on these issues. My own research agrees with his as well. One implication of this is to ignore those posts that contradict his guidance. As to your need, I would only suggest dropping/lower the supercharge to arrive home at 50%...
