Whats the silliest EV prejudice youve heard?

I'm sure the extra weight, even at only 16% more, doesn't help with tire wear. I do think the quicker tire wear has more to do with torque and how some of us drive our cars! Most people with sporty cars go through tires more quickly than typical Honda Accord drivers. I would actually put...

    Rivian vs Model Y

Sounds like I’m not the only one watching Rivian. I’d like a three row I can put people in all three rows with, also haul gear and use a roof rack. Tesla doesn’t have that car, at least yet, though you can do something with the hitch. I do wonder what will happen with all of these EV upstarts...

What was your fueling routine pre-EV?

I live in a Speedway gas station market and they monkey with prices all of the time. So in a normal year (before covid, before Russia invading Ukraine, etc) I would just wait for them to tick their prices down and everyone would follow then I would gas up. You could just about predict when they...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

This is a surprising move by Honda, Hydrogen-Powered Honda CR-V to Be Built in the U.S. Starting in 2024 . I wonder if this is more about the Japanese government continuing to push Hydrogen versus Honda believing in Hydrogen as a viable fuel source. For whatever reason the Japanese companies...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

I was purposely trying to be simplistic and only discussing the stations, but you are right about all of the other challenges with hydrogen. I think green hydrogen is a good thing but for industrial applications and as a replacement for hydrogen derived from fossil fuels.

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

That's true from a feature standpoint. I was thinking more like how can they simplify parts to make manufacturing easier and/or reduce labor or components. Like the structural battery back or megacasting parts. I'd anticipate some of the changes being invisible at least on the surface.

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

That would be interesting but I would vote no. It goes against the article's stated reasons for the change which is to simplify things and reduce costs. Of course the article could very well be wrong!

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Tesla is rumored to be redesigning the model 3 in an effort to lower costs. I’m certainly curious where this will lead and of course if it is indeed true! https://www.engadget.com/tesla-highland-model-3-redesign-report-172945432.html

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

True, that’s my industry and I am amazed what lead times are for standard equipment.

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Thanks for adding this. This is why I prefer conversations versus trying to respond to posts. JRP3 and I were really making two different but related points. It is true that high voltage DC charging stations weren’t a thing, my point, but JRP3 made a great point that the electrical...

Convincing others to switch to Tesla or EV?

I'll add that being realistic is best to convince someone. Day to day in town driving requires no thought and you just plug in when you get home (unless you live in an apartment or can't install a 240V circuit). Driving out of town is mostly seamless and requires no planning if you let your car...

    Interesting EVgo developments

Interesting about pulling out of Walmart, seems like a decent amount of sunk costs to pull the plug. I am hoping to be able to use EVgo since I have a ChargePoint account and they both claim to be interoperable. Has anyone been to use their ChargePoint account at EVgo?

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Sheesh, I didn't think I was making argumentative points. People refuting battery powered cars did in fact make the same argument, that they weren't enough places to charge and now look at the landscape, that was my point! Also, we all know hydrogen didn't end up being the fuel of the future...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

I think that's why it has only been used in select markets (California) and why it has never scaled. The idea is certainly an intriguing one but like many of these types of ideas they lack the ability to truly scale and then something better comes along. Although on the third point people...

    Hydrogen vs. Battery

Spot on and I'll highlight your first and last sentences. It's this weird position that we are in because we have time (because we can't physically transition by snapping our fingers) but we don't have time (because maintaining the status quo isn't sustainable).
