Work in progress: stalks on 2021 Model S. (and optional round-y wheel)

It uses the same blue port above phone chargers as S3XY Commander. I thought that was OBD, but anyway same port. Splitter should work.

Work in progress: stalks on 2021 Model S. (and optional round-y wheel)

They both plug into OBD port. Not sure if a splitter is available, allowing multiple connections at the same time.

Work in progress: stalks on 2021 Model S. (and optional round-y wheel)

Looks like a cool product and installation video is nicely done. This will prevent having S3XY buttons at the same time given use of the OBD port.

Newbie Questions (Avoid if newbies annoys you)

You need to touch the map screen once briefly and will get pop up options to change map view, see traffic, see details and the bolt for charge locations. See attached pic. Regarding floor mats, I prefer the 3D Maxpider Elegant mats, but they also sell Kagu with more traditional weather...

Is this Model S a good deal or keep looking?

Right, that's just the part cost. Depends on circumstances, type of refurb. battery and Tesla goodwill too. Probably closer to $20K all in.

Is this Model S a good deal or keep looking?

Could be ok deal. But I think it's important to qualify this statement from the seller and see service records. The Tesla paperwork will say why battery replacement was completed (fault or customer request). A $15K + battery replacement, just to sell at $23K sounds off. Also, important to find...

    Sleeping with the Enemy!!

I think the Plaid is the cake! @ill_smo_q do you know how to remove that license plate holder? 15 min process with good fishing line (search YouTube).

    Review of new MSLR

Try Advanced suspension setting with handling all the way to right / firm and ride comfort set 1 notch from right / firm. This has really worked for me. And definitely try the seat calibration to resolve other issue.

@terranx here is their support email. Might help if we continue to pester them for resolution: [email protected]

Bought a non-running Tesla Model S at auction - Have questions

It’s not really practical to take battery out of casing and reinstall shell. If you see battery tray under car and behind front wheels, 99% it’s still there.

Changing lanes - Info overload. Camera, mirror, graphics....

No, only the lane change side camera can be moved around if used on its own.

Changing lanes - Info overload. Camera, mirror, graphics....

Right, can’t use both at the same time. Camera app overrides.

Changing lanes - Info overload. Camera, mirror, graphics....

Oh, sorry what year Model S do you have? I’m talking about the turn signal side camera display, not the rear / reverse camera.

You can drag with finger to top and left on screen while blinker is on. Wish granted 😃

Changing lanes - Info overload. Camera, mirror, graphics....

It does take some getting used to. Did you figure out that the sideview camera image can be moved to upper-left on display, by dragging with your finger when active? I've found that position makes it easier to look at quickly, and I use it most of the time. It definitely has better coverage of...

No... but the 3D Maxpider is 11.5 inches covering dead pedal :)

Same as you, but 1 notch firmer on Ride.

    Red x on camera icon

Likely is firmware issue. Have you tried simply unplugging and then plugging SSD back in? This always resets my Red X, and I realized that reformatting was unnecessary.

Picture of 2021 Model S refresh with Tempest wheels no wheel covers

That’s a good idea. I get compliments on these all the time. 27 K miles on tires so far with even wear and no issues.

    New tesla owner

A ‘13 with only 4K miles?! Wow, that’s an interesting find. Hard to give advice on all the “normal” things early Model S’s experienced, because of the low usage. What does car charge to at 90% and is it a 60 or 85? I had a ‘13 for 5 years and sold it at 60K miles. I can share some future things...

Center horn retrofit for Model S

Right, I meant interesting that any ‘21 can be upgraded with new part and change in firmware. Same wiring harness, just new yoke or wheel.

Center horn retrofit for Model S

Why was your original yoke replaced? Interesting that they can upgrade the horn in ‘21 with firmware. What’s the new haptic button on right side?

2024 Model S warnings: regen braking, steering assist etc disabled

I’ve read here about similar problems due to electrical fault with 1 motor. Also could be wiring harness. I’m sure the SC will track it down.

Help for Buying First Fixer Upper Model S

FYI, there was no AWD in 2013. And battery options were 60/85 rated at 208/265. So if car is showing ~200 miles it’s likely a degraded 85.

Need Advice on allstate declaring my bumper/panel damage totaled!

Sounds like you have a good repair estimate from independent body shop, so that's good. Now let your insurance maximize valuation and explore options on fixing vs. replacing. Also, your insurance can facilitate getting into a nicer loaner car while you wait if necessary, charging it back to...

Need Advice on allstate declaring my bumper/panel damage totaled!

They are pushing you around. Go through your own insurance already, to protect your rights. Don’t let Allstate touch the car.

    Speeding ticket question

Why, which state and insurance co? Proper traffic school certificates delete the DMV record, so there should be nothing that shows up in their periodic checks.
  31. SoCal Buzz

    Speeding ticket question

Right. Since this was such a one off experience, can you just go to traffic school online to remove from record? You still have to pay fine, but won’t touch insurance.

Need Advice on allstate declaring my bumper/panel damage totaled!

California is an At Fault state, and given other party is 100% at fault, insurance will not go up. @wrysys - yes, you should always go through your own insurance. They represent you and can help ensure a fair resolution. Allstate is not being paid to support you. Even if the repair cost is high...

'Continuous' Autopilot using S3XY buttons commander

PSA - Continuous AP does not yet work on 2021+ Refresh Model S. The vendor has acknowledged the issue and says they are working on a fix. However it’s been 2 months with multiple firmware updates, and no love so far.

    Car off

It doesn’t work that way; nothing is on the “outside” and easy. See attached picture for example of what you’re dealing with. I recommend you find 3rd party independent shop. How much was just charge port replacement?

    Car off

Wiring harnesses are intertwined throughout car and connect various parts. They can be hard to replace given parts to remove for access and knowledge required (e.g., dash is likely a lot of work). Also, you may not want to hear this, but Tesla sometimes just starts replacing things without...

    2021 Refresh Center Screen Burn-In

    Cali HOV Decals placement?

For the last 10 years on multiple Teslas, I’ve only ever used 1 Clean Air sticker. I place them on PPF film, and stick on the rear right lower corner, on the gloss black trim portion, not the painted bumper. It’s unobtrusive with that low placement, and I’ve never had issue with CHP. I’ll send...

    Red x on camera icon

You should have 2 more USB-C ports in front console on Model 3, where you insert drive for sentry to record. Check your user manual in car. In Nov. 2021 they moved sentry port into glovebox. Also, this is Model S forum.

Any clue why range was reduced on MSP but not MSLR?

The differences in acceleration and top speed likely explain why LR range did not decrease.
  48. SoCal Buzz

Any clue why range was reduced on MSP but not MSLR?

Didn’t they limit the top speed on LR, which would factor into the calculation? While on Plaid, the tri-motor at full output in drag strip mode will use a lot more energy.
  49. SoCal Buzz

Any clue why range was reduced on MSP but not MSLR?

That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. Tesla is rather opaque, to put it in polite terms.

    Bouncy Suspension Model S

Try customizing the suspension settings; they do make a difference. By bouncy I assume you mean the rebound, rather than just feeling bumps in road as with a firm sport suspension. You should be able to adjust how suspension reacts to make it more sport like.
