Powerwall 3 calibration in process, what is this?

I've had my PW3s since November and haven't seen this. Was it in an in-app alert?
  2. SteveO332

    Powerwall 3 - Version 24.4.2-1 to 24.12.3.

    1. Definitely a bright white light now. You can see it in daylight easily. White seems to be "OK", while red seems to indicate an error. If you see a light green hue, that's what I saw prior to the update and everything was OK with that led color. 2. No. You can request it in the official...

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

They asked me how I knew one of my units failed a firmware update, so I spilled the beans. I could have also just said it's in the settings in the app; it shows the lowest firmware of all 4 units.

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

I have Powerwall 3s, so I actually have to log into a Powerwall directly (network starts with TeslaPW-XXXXXX). But check this - Powerwall support told me that using the TeslaOne app as a homeowner could VOID MY WARRANTY on the power walls and asked me not to use it anymore. Anyone else heard...

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

Agreed - when I was with Tesla Electric with realtime buyback rates, I noticed it often was either zero or negative during the day. Negative sellback rates even appeared on my bill. It didn't amount to much, but still, it was there. Tesla Powerwall support did update my PCS settings not too...

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

Does that have to do with PCS settings in the TeslaOne app?
  8. SteveO332

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

Thank you. I just noticed as well that the breaker is actually rated for 150 amps, so the limit is technically 36kw. No wonder it tripped!

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

I missed it (sleep focus mode), but the grid actually never went down. The only thing I can think of is maybe it was drawing too much at once? Free nights, so everything starts at the same time. 2 vehicles + powerwalls recharging + house usage spiked it right before it tripped. Free nights...

Tesla Gateway (V2) Breaker Tripped Last Night

Installed November 2023. 4 x PW3s, Backup Gateway V2, 23.49kw system. This morning, I woke to find that the power was out of my home. Neighbors weren't out. I checked the breaker in the Tesla Backup Gateway, and it was tripped, so I've been on batteries all night and ran out at about 5am...

    Powerwall 3 - Version 24.4.2-1 to 24.12.3.

How odd for them to say that, given we already have 24.12.3.
  12. SteveO332

    Powerwall 3 - Version 24.4.2-1 to 24.12.3.

I've been requesting an update to that single unit every day for a few days now via the TeslaOne app, and I've had no luck with it updating on its own. Tesla support said they also requested it and that it would update within 24 hours, but I've had no luck there either. Pressing "update...

Older Version 3 Wall Connector works with Powershare and any version of Powerwall

That's what I was seeing, just thrown off seeing a screenshot of it working for another user (different thread). Thought I was missing something.. It appears it does work but only for those with new Powershare installations with the specific Powershare gateway.
  14. SteveO332

Older Version 3 Wall Connector works with Powershare and any version of Powerwall

Sure - I work from home, so the few times a month I need the CT to step in when my powerwalls are drained are well worth it. It also allows me to possibly go off free nights (that's when I charge the powerwalls and Y + CT) and back to Tesla Electric, since I can now sustain myself off grid much...
  15. SteveO332

Older Version 3 Wall Connector works with Powershare and any version of Powerwall

That didn't do anything, just stayed off the grid but it didn't trigger the CT to initiate Powershare. CT 2024.14.6
  16. SteveO332

Older Version 3 Wall Connector works with Powershare and any version of Powerwall

It's confirmed that it would only backup when the grid is down? I was hoping I would be able to use it in addition to the Powerwalls to avoid having to pull from the grid at all. I can do it fine on sunny days, but on consecutive cloudy or rainy days, I'm pulling from the grid at night.
  17. SteveO332

Older Version 3 Wall Connector works with Powershare and any version of Powerwall

I still don't get how all of this is going to work with Powerwall 3s. You don't log into the gateway at all. You log into one of the PW3 units instead, so you can't even set Powershare up in the app. (when you click to "install new product") I had my solar/powerwall installed in Nov...

    Powerwall 3 - Version 24.4.2-1 to 24.12.3.

Bummer. It looks like 1 unit of 4 didn't update and is stuck on the old version. I'm not entirely sure the green hue that was on the previous version by default was even a LED color; it could have been ambient green LED light from some other part of the circuit board. This white on the units...

    Powerwall 3 - Version 24.4.2-1 to 24.12.3.

I noticed my Powerwall 3s were glowing white today (vs. green). I checked the software version, and they upgraded the version from 24.4.2-1 to 24.12.3 at some point recently. Is anyone aware if Tesla has a changelog?

Interesting...$400/PW/Year is great, and you still get fixed sellback rate of $0.04? Cybertruck coming this Friday. If Powershare works and I can combine them, I'm going back to TE to try that out as soon as I break even on my early termination fee with JE.

Do you know if that's still the case with the Tesla Backup Switch? https://www.tesla.com/support/energy/powerwall/learn/tesla-backup-switch I was told in December that I couldn't use that yet (not approved by Ercot) and had to install a Gateway V2 just to manage the grid connection, but that...

Wish they'd consider free nights. I'd be willing to take a hit on the buyback %, personally. Make it 50/50 buyback instead of 90/10, and give free nights. Thoughts?

Hell yea! Sounds like a great plan. I've always wanted to Turo but that idea goes right out the window the moment I take possession of my vehicles because I end up falling in love with it. I've never been able to treat it like a business asset, rather, it ends up being a third child. 🤣 I'm...

I'll go back to TE again this Summer after I get the Cybertruck powershare working. An additional 123 kWh on top of the 52 kWh PW3 batteries will get me 175 total, and that should mostly cover cloudy/rainy days. Next purchase will be an refreshed Model Y, but Powershare is a requirement.

    FSD free trial is over

Definitely subbing monthly. It shouldn't be this way, but autopilot improves my driving score, lowering my insurance by about $20-30/month. This makes FSD effectively $69-$79/month, for me. Without it, I get constant dings due to the front collision alert for stupid things; too many false...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

It wasn't always that way. When I got my Model S P90D in 2017, Tesla really spared no expense. Red carpet, ribbon, service reps on a first name basis, everything was clean (service center and vehicle) greeted by name, etc. Whenever I had an issue, I had a brand new loaner, frequent updates...

It's crazy that even with Tesla's notorious lack of customer service, I still struggle to find a better alternative. It feels like leaving the Apple ecosystem - the services integration is so useful that people like me are willing to ignore the lack of customer service for a chance at...

That change in stress is what caused me to consider the monetary cost of that stress. To me, it's easily worth $1,000 or so given how much I sat and watched the damn app all day. 😅

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

So far, first week in back with JE has been heaven again. No worrying about usage, plenty of excess generation, and car stays charged throughout the day. I just wish I could have an automation to turn on/off charge on solar based on a TOU plan, so that it charges on solar during the day, and...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

The only thing that worries me is that it isn't sustainable. I assume JE/Amigo buy up futures to pay the flat buyback rate, but being with TE gives you insight into the wholesale rates and they're usually incredibly low. I'm mentally preparing for JE/Amigo to randomly end or change something...

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

Gotcha. I wish they offered Free Nights for everything, not just vehicles. For me, I'd pay $15 ($30 soon) a month, plus whatever I have to pay for these cloudy/rainy days where I need to draw from the grid. With JE, I start each morning at 100% PW battery and 80% charge on the model Y and...
  39. SteveO332

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

I don't see the benefit vs. Free Nights for everything. TE is just saying free nights from 10-6 for vehicles, but you're still going to have to pay to charge your powerwalls if you get consecutive cloudy days. Am I missing something?
  40. SteveO332

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

That's for VPP, right? Mine said the same back when I was with JE (before trying TE), and never changed.
  41. SteveO332

Tesla Solar in Houston & Surrounding Area’s

It's hard to consider TE seriously when there are options for free nights with Amigo or JustEnergy, with a flat rate buy back. Then, when VPP eventually gets approved for PW3s, I just don't see the point of TE for a solar + pw customer. Maybe for non-solar/battery customers it makes sense, though.

Poll: When will FSD V12 be in wide release?

I was in the farthest left lane on a three-lane highway, and on the right shoulder, there was a disabled vehicle. There weren't any vehicles anywhere near me. It was a sunny day, with no clouds and a level stretch of the highway (vs. an overpass). I'll be damned if the autopilot slowed down...

Well, I take that back; Just Energy just sent me a check for my negative balance. The rep told me they do this when the account is closed, but I figured no one gave credits back except Telsa Electric. It's hard for me not to switch back to them now. Decisions. Decisions.

I tried JustEnergy back in Feb, and as expected, the bill went negative. They required a $109 deposit but I assume that's because I had my credit frozen. My negative balance could pay for the termination fee, so I switched back to Tesla Electric in March to see how things would go. I was way...

I, for one, am just excited to finally not get any more du-nuh-nuhs (that's what my wife and I call them) for forward collision warnings. No Tesla, I will not hit the parked car in my neighborhood going 20 just because I'm dodging a trash can on the road, OK?! Seriously, the driving score...
