    Supercharger - Morrisville, NC (RDU)

Most of the Sheetz locations never appeared as Coming Soon on the findus map, so nothing strange there. I think it's a case of which sites were initiated by Tesla versus other third parties, and Sheetz has been prolific in adding sites at their request, many of which just popped up out of nowhere.

    Supercharger - Morrisville, NC (RDU)

I guess I am saying that it would be unprecedented to have Sheetz branding specifically. I'm aware of the BP Pulse, and I do suspect others may follow, but if there is some deal to provide Sheetz branding, I can't imagine any reason it would be kept secret, so it would be really surprising if...

    Supercharger - Morrisville, NC (RDU)

Sheetz branded cabinets certainly would be interesting, but also unprecedented (of course this arrangement at a Sheetz is also unprecedented). I doubt that is the case though (although we shall see soon). I haven't been paying close attention the the Supercharger labels/stickers, but it is...

    Sentry Mode stages

I can't confirm those exact stages that you talk about, but I think Sentry mode is always recording, it just overwrites footage unless #2 or #3 happens, so stage #1 as you describe doesn't really exist. This is why when you get a Sentry mode event you have several minutes of the preceding...

Where to report that a destination charger has been removed?

I think I could trust EVgo's live status. I'm not so sure about Blink. I want to, but with quite a few of their stations, they are mislabeled, in the wrong location, etc., wrong power listed, so I'm not quite at that point with Blink. EV Connect also seems fairly reliable with their live...

    Car doors are unlocked

Have you been having to use your key card? When you unlock the doors with the key card (as opposed to the phone), the walk away lock function is disabled and you must lock the doors with the key card (or the app).

  8. RTPEV

Where to report that a destination charger has been removed?

Mostly agree, but there is at least one notable exception: ChargePoint, which you can retrieve actual usage information from the app/site: Unlike Plugshare where users may or may not check in a success or failure, ChargePoint does give you actual usage information which would give you a warm...

Finally got my FSD trial - Major school zone issue

I'm just talking about one thing: robotaxis. Regarding FSDS, however, I also don't think FSDS should route around school zones, but rather the supervisor should simply disengage when entering an active school zone, the same as any other non-standard situation: construction zone, parking lot...

Where to report that a destination charger has been removed?

Possibly, but personally I would not trust the Tesla map for L2 charging anyway. When I am researching L2 charging, I rely on Plugshare entries/reviews. The Tesla map offers no such warm fuzzie from other users.

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

I think we are more or less in agreement, although I'm not saying we structure our ethics around laws, but rather that a non-sentient robotaxi is going to follow the law to the letter, lest the supplier be held liable. So if there is an ethical concerns, they should be codified into the law...

Finally got my FSD trial - Major school zone issue

I rarely give a thumbs down, and it's nothing personal, but the "disagree" is because it's sometimes not possible. Consider the previous post where the poster's road exits into a school zone. You can't avoid that. And I can think of at least one case in an area I used to live in where...

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

Let me ask you this then...suppose there is a hypothetical situation: an AV is driving down a street with an vehicle in the oncoming lane. At the last second, a kid jumps out in front of the AV without enough time to stop, but possibly the AV could swerve into the oncoming vehicle in order to...
  14. RTPEV

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

That is all true. However, I do think we can extrapolate the trolley problem to a more realistic real-world problem statement as it would apply to an autonomous vehicle (acknowledging that this is NOT the formal trolley problem). The scenario would be a situation where a collision is imminent...

Supercharger - Lanaʻi City, Lanaʻi, HI (4 stalls + 36 wall connectors)

Well, it's a whole 5 miles to the Four Seasons resort from the airport...that only gives you about 30 round trips a day!

Should I update from my 2021.4.18 since I have FSD?

I agree with the fact that you might as well drive your car yourself, at least on local roads. FSD is not ready for prime time there, and I would not classify it as a driver assistance system on surface streets. It does seem pointless to me there. But the "constantly holding the wheel and...

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

Things are not always as they seem (or reported)...here is an update to that story: https://www.tallahassee.com/story/news/local/2020/09/29/tpd-man-reached-speeds-near-100-mph-before-hitting-woman-grandson-stroller/3570424001/ Basically the root cause here was that the person driving was...

Should I update from my 2021.4.18 since I have FSD?

Maybe this is the "problem". I get the feeling that people that complain about the nags are using it in this fashion: hands off, and then occasionally "bump" the wheel, which sometimes causes a disengagement. Any reason why people aren't just lightly holding the wheel and offering a slight...

    Streaming Question

The apps themselves are downloaded to the car with the regular software updates. They are only related to the Tesla browser in the sense that the Tesla browser itself is an app that is downloaded. That said, the browser and the other apps themselves probably make use of some underlying OS...

    Free Music?

I don't know if that's necessarily the exact wording you will find, but average run of the mill USB drives will generally not work (for long). You want one that is appropriate for dashcam use, or otherwise specifies a wide temperature range.

    Streaming Question

Sometimes it's just glitchy. Especially during the handoff from WiFi to cellular (as you've discovered). Technically yes, Slacker/Live One and TuneIn are two separate providers, but it's pretty rare for either to be completely down. The TuneIn app seems to be more sensitive than Slacker...

    Trash Cans/Squeegees at Superchargers

Good idea. However, as for the penalty for having ICE cars blocking charging spaces, I think it depends. Some convenience stores have small parking lots, and rather than 100% reserving 8 spots (which may be 40-50% of their total parking capacity) solely for Supercharger usage, they allow...

Finally got my FSD trial - Major school zone issue

One particular challenge with that specific scenario is that school zone signs vary from district to district. Sometimes they have flashing lights. Sometimes they have small text that specifies the hours that they are active, and sometimes that's not even clear to humans as it specifies...

    Free Music?

Note that whatever you use, it must be rated for automotive use. Run of the mill USB drives and flash memory cards will not endure the cabin heat very well and won't last long. As for video data, yeah I suppose if you never clean out saved dashcam footage it will eventually consume 1TB, but it...

Finally got my FSD trial - Major school zone issue

Correct. It doesn't properly recognize such things. That's why it's not really Full Self Driving. You are responsible for monitoring it and adjusting as necessary. This is only one of many things that it doesn't handle properly.

I would probably avoid prolonged exposure to the elements (here's a nice thread with some helpful ideas: Securing mobile charger to the wall ) but I wouldn't sweat it if you very occasionally use it outdoors and it starts to rain. Just do your best to shield it and follow the advice from the...

What’s the point if I have to tug the wheel every 10 seconds?

Why even bother with that? It sounds like you pretty much have the hang of it, so just ignore the nag and keep doing what you are doing. The nag will clear and you'll be all set.

What’s the point if I have to tug the wheel every 10 seconds?

I can only say this: I have had EAP (and then FSD) on my Model 3 since 2018. We've had her Y since early 2023. It has FSD, but I have two profiles set up, one with and one without FSD enabled. Maybe it takes a certain amount of practice, but I just hardly ever get nagged, and very rarely...

    v12 is not e2e AI

This whole stop sign discussion takes me back to driver's ed and my driver's test. Of course I didn't actually drive this...

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

This is a flawed question, as if those are the (only) two possibilities. It will probably do neither. First of all, the oncoming car is going to hit you, not the other way around. Yes, there will be a collision, but the act of "hitting" would be squarely on the other vehicle, not yours. Your...

What’s the point if I have to tug the wheel every 10 seconds?

If this is what is happening to you, you are not doing it correctly. Loosen your grip. It's really not that difficult. Edit: I will add this: my wife had a lot of difficulty with this when she got her Model Y. She would first grip it too hard and constantly be yanking it out of autopilot...
  38. RTPEV

What’s the point if I have to tug the wheel every 10 seconds?

You don't have to grab the wheel every 10 seconds. You have to be holding the wheel and putting a small amount of torque on it at all times. Your grip should be light such that when the wheel turns it slides freely with only a bit of friction against your hand. That's how it's intended to be...

    M3 Entry Tile

It's kind of strange that we get so used to seeing an odometer in our vehicles that it somehow feels strange/awkward in a vehicle to not have it front and center. But over time, at least in my case, eventually you realize that you don't really need that information. In fact, the only time I...

Why does FSD keep changing lanes all the time?

I'm pretty sure the reason it changes out of the right lane is simply because it doesn't have the ability to detect oncoming traffic in time to preemptively move over, so it just says f- it, I'm going to move out of the right lane at every on ramp (or intersection in the case of a non-limited...

    Locked out of my M3P

I don't believe this is the case. I get out of my car, leaving my phone inside it, shut the door, and go to my mailbox kiosk and it never locks. I think I also inadvertently left my phone in the car while at a house in my neighborhood (not near my own house) for an extended period of time...

Robotaxi : The business of competing with human drivers

I really like the question that you've asked here. My stumbling block with respect to robotaxis, however, is not on the demand or utilization side, but the supply side, and I think the comparison to human drivers breaks down when we consider that. It seems the business cases that people...

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

Let me rephrase it: I think Tesla is still a long way off from a usable truly E2E network. There are two many edge cases (chasing the 9's) that training a NN alone is going to be able to handle before we get to L4/L5 autonomy. This is not conclusive by any means, but last month I was on a...

    Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

You're sure? Does that mean you've tried it? ;) With a 5 gallon bucket sized human? I have to say that I'm a bit skeptical it would recognize a 5-gallon bucket sized human as a human (I'm even skeptical that it recognizes it as an object at all), but even if it did, I don't think this rises...

    v12 is not e2e AI

I too bought into what Elon was saying about the "photons in, controls out" statement (I should have known better), but that was clearly an aspirational statement. Trolley Problem with FSD 12?

I'm of the opinion that there is no/will not be trolley problem scenarios in any FSD implementation (at least not for a very long time). The way the system works is simply to avoid obstacles. Period. It will not be weighing one obstacle versus another. It will also be scanning the...

    Supercharger Layoffs Affected Progress?

I can get behind that idea that they are looking to spin off the network, but you don't lay EVERYONE off, as the people/talent is sometimes just as important (or more) than the physical assets of the company.
