How does it work when Leased car is totaled?

That will almost certainly be repaired, not totaled.

How do I get sentry notification

Only a true sociopath would want a notification every time someone walked by their car 😐

Crack on the glass roof - not repairable

Is it really your opinion that the cracks shown in the first post are going to have any fundamental effect on a major collision? If so, then I guess be safe and park your car for 3 weeks.
  5. ucmndd

    Slow supercharging

Of course not. It’s impossible to address the rest of your concerns until you do more testing or identify a pattern.

Crack on the glass roof - not repairable

The glass roof is laminated glass just like the windshield. Would you drive you car with a windshield like that for a few weeks if you had to? Could it possibly leak slightly at the impact point? Yes, although I doubt it would. If that’s a concern a bit of packing tape would do the trick until...

Crack on the glass roof - not repairable

There’s no reason to not drive the car until you can get it fixed. It’s not like it’s going to explode or something.

2024.14.x on Intel MCU model 3

My fingers are crossed for full self driving on a 2013 Model S for the same reason. I mean, who cares that Tesla never published it as a feature for the car, or that it’s dependent on hardware the car doesn’t have. Nobody has tested it yet to prove it doesn’t work! I have faith in coders. I’m...

Long distance weekly commute - Model S LR

S is a great long distance commuter. I put almost 200,000 miles on one. 200 miles one way should be no problem except in the extreme cold or other bad weather.

2024.14.x on Intel MCU model 3

It doesn’t matter that the phone has it. The car doesn’t. You can’t. Your phone key works via Bluetooth. Your car doesn’t get the hands free trunk. This is why that feature isn’t listed in the release notes for legacy Model 3. This is where the story ends.

Tesla works exclusively through partner banks to my knowledge.

    Continental Tire Cut < 45 Days(1600 Miles)

Impossible to tell from that tiny picture but this isn't a warranty issue and very unlikely to be a manufacturing defect - you almost certainly ran over something.

    How to get service?

What are the issues you're reporting? "Issues with my battery" is a quick way to get your appointment cancelled as most reported issues are not issues at all.

Roof Rack - Is it Really a Risk?

This is a "fact" which you have 100% manifested out of thin air based on a single photograph posted by an anonymous third party. You must have a different definition of fact than I do.

80% Charge is Only Showing 168 Mile Range? '22 MYP w/ 17K miles

I'd not bother consulting anyone until you complete a couple deep cycles and 100% charges to see what you're actually working with.

Legacy S Camera Upgrade - (Lost Features) (FSD)

I was invited for the camera retrofit on my 2016 S. They performed it for free even though I only had the EAP package.
  17. ucmndd

Should i receive phone notifications from sentry?

    No, that's not a thing.

80% Charge is Only Showing 168 Mile Range? '22 MYP w/ 17K miles

Charge to 100%. What does it show when fully charged?

2018 Model S "oil in coolant"

Yes, of course. The difference between water and coolant is very obvious.

Power cut. Charger resumes or waits further instruction?

While I do have a 2024 MYLR I can’t confirm for certain as I haven’t had an overnight power outage yet. That said, I’ve had Teslas for almost 8 years now and they have all behaved this way so I think odds are pretty good.
  21. ucmndd

Power cut. Charger resumes or waits further instruction?

if you use the Scheduled Charging setting, the car will start charging immediately if plugged in within 6 hours after the scheduled start time. My car starts charging again when power is restored if there is an overnight outage (provided it’s within that 6 hour window). I believe what you want...

I am frankly shocked by how stunningly ugly the Cybertruck is

It’s the Hummer H2 of the 2020s and will likely follow a similar sales trajectory. Just a passing fad, something to be seen in for people that need to be seen. Anyone who seriously thinks Tesla is going to sell millions of these things is deluded.

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

Serious question - where? I’m looking to refinance a loan and the best I’ve found anywhere is 5.5%. Well, Navy Fed and USAA are lower but I don’t have a path to membership there. Tesla has been offering 6.5% through their partners for the past several months which is why I used that as the...

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

I think it’s pretty minimal in the grand scheme of things and everyone is already working on it. As I said upthread, this is the crux of my disagreement. Switching to NACS will be an immediate benefit to literally any other EV manufacturer on day one even if Tesla never builds another...

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Yep, I got that. I’m saying I disagree with this being a realistic concern. I’m talking about other manufacturers abandoning their plans to switch to NACS, which is what the post I quoted suggests as a possibility. I think the likelihood of anyone doing that is next to nil. Even if Tesla never...

    Tire/Battery Life in Arizona

Are you suggesting that a 5,000 pound car will not wear tires faster than a 2,500 pound car driven in identical conditions?
  28. ucmndd

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

I don’t think this is necessarily true. NACS is an SAE standard now, out of Tesla’s direct control. It can thrive or wither independent of Tesla’s shenanigans.

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

The leftover 2023 RWDs are not eligible for the tax credit, so look carefully if that’s important to you.
  30. ucmndd

    .99% APR Financing Promotion (May 10 - May 31 2024)

Doing the math: At current prevailing auto loan interest rates (about 6.5%) this incentive is worth approximately $9,000 if you finance $50k for 72 months. For those keeping score, that’s roughly the same discount we’ve seen every quarter now for the past 2-3 quarters. In other words - same...

Can you sell a new Tesla to your own LLC before registering or is this "title jumping?"

Full FSD Free Trial: Why I'd never buy it . . . ever.

I want the ability to choose when I want FSD and when I don’t. Lord Elon has decided that forcing people to use FSD all the time or not at all is more important to him than customer choice. Like I already said, there is next to zero chance I will be giving Tesla more money for FSD any time in...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Holy Elon Distortion Field, Batman! Top talent is fleeing Tesla like rats from a sinking ship. Not many are willing to risk their livelihood on the whim of someone that has proven to be so unhinged and more importantly unpredictable. You can work people to the bone and get away with brazen...

Full FSD Free Trial: Why I'd never buy it . . . ever.

Guess not. Certainly wouldn’t pay for the privilege of more stress and constant monitoring vs plain old autopilot. I drive a hundred miles a day - FSD is not for me. I think anyone who writes this down or says it aloud realizes what a ridiculous workaround it is deep down.
  36. ucmndd

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

This is misplaced blame if I've ever seen it. Firing a direct report for questioning/refusing your order is a prerogative of leadership. Firing 500 people because a direct report questioned/refused your order is the scorched-earth work of a fragile, petulant man child. There is no passing...

Full FSD Free Trial: Why I'd never buy it . . . ever.

Got the latest update with the 30 day demo today. Turned it off after 30 minutes. The fact that they have made FSD all or nothing and completely eliminated TACC makes it completely useless for me.

Using AI to improve wipe malfunction

So your proposal is "detect rain better"? Damn, why didn't they think of this 7.5 years ago when they got rid of the rain sensor? Brilliant.

    No Cabin Air Filter

The HEPA filter does all the heavy lifting anyway. Just not putting one in is a very Tesla thing to do, but also a non-issue. Honestly having no filter in there at all is probably better than having one that's 4 years old (low mileage or not). They do eventually gum up, making the blower and...

    FSD Steering wheel nag

It is, more or less. But there’s no reason that update can’t have features that only apply to certain models.
  41. ucmndd

    FSD Steering wheel nag

No, as I said originally it most certainly will not be disabled for those without cabin cameras. For sure.
  42. ucmndd

    FSD Steering wheel nag

Because it’s annoying and the camera can now perform the same function.

MY 2024 Headlights not fully Illuminated

The horizontal band is for sure “normal” and present on both my 2023 Model 3 and 2024 Model Y. This isn’t an issue that Tesla is going to fix for you.

    FSD Steering wheel nag

It will for sure only go away for cars with cabin cameras…

Maximum battery charge level reduced - warranty about to expire

You may well have had someone tell you that in conversation, but it was absolutely never documented in any way and is not part of the official warranty terms. Help Evaluating my Battery Analysis (2012 85kwh)

Exactly this. 👍 Furthermore, that analysis doesn't give any information on module imbalance (which would be a better way to detect impending failure), only the observed capacity of the entire pack. Further furthermore, lots and lots of early Model S pack failures have nothing to do with the...
