    Highland Range

If true, the projected range at 0% charge would be about 25km (4% buffer). I will check this at the next opportunity.

    Highland Range

Whatever man, I don’t use any apps. Just the consumption screen calculations, standard afair. Good luck with whatever you are doing.

    Highland Range

My usable started at 78.5kwh, and is now 77.5kwh, after 10,000miles. M3LR 2023 MIC, so LG battery.

    Highland Range

So you claim there is no buffer under 0%? Thats a big claim.

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

With cell imbalance, does deep discharge worsen imbalance and thus we should not routinely go to say 10% just like we should not routinely supercharge? Would imbalance beget more imbalance like a very mild case of positive feedback loop?

    Highland Range

Isn’t it 78 kwh usable plus 3.5kwh buffer and thus ~81.5kwh gross capacity?

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Looking at 2019 M3P, the power bar has reduced noticeably by 150km/hr. Motor limited. The new M3P seems to have no drop off at 90mph. So new motor seems more capable at high speed. Approx peak power (ie top end) from what I can gather on older M3P comparisons: LG 100% and preheated =...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Has everyone outgrown their current M3P and M3LR already? Have you gotten to top speed already, used the brakes to their heat capacity, powered through corners with 4 wheel drift, taken the battery from 100-0% and just in general made full use of the vehicle capabilities and still want more… if...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

The LG battery version is not adequate for these motors. Enough for the LR dual motor, but even so it voltage sags 20% or so under full power.

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

It is even simpler to charge once a week, charge fully in 4 hours, so car is untethered 99% of its life.

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

Difference is charging once a week vs 5 times a week. Difference also is you have very little buffer for changed plans. This did get me thinking, the EV charging process isn't as easy as a phone which is currently the only thing I charge daily. Perhaps some have managed to set up their...

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

What is the purpose of reducing degradation, is it resale value? Keeping the car for your kids to inherit? Or is it to maintain maximum theoretical range? What is the purpose of maintaining max theoretical range, if you have to put up with low usable range in the first place?

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

So this is my personal framework for dealing with battery degradation, maybe interesting to some. The aim is to have the car improve or at least not degrade over time, in day to day use. Similar to how software updates make the car better (generally speaking) over time, I want the battery to...

Thoughts on not choosing acceleration boost on M3LR

Here's something fun to try... Use your left foot to step on the accelerator. Car suddenly feels "new" and excessively powerful again. Similar process as going to Chill mode for a while. Left foot hasn't developed the muscle memory necessary, to prepare your body for the acceleration. So the...

Weird phantom sensations and hallucinations driving a model 3

The eyeball is rather interestingly gyro-stabilised in all three axes, and this can sometimes be observed as nystagmus when activation is strong and persistent for whatever reason. Perhaps torsional eye motion is what makes the walls seem to twist. Your interesting observation that the novice...

Weird phantom sensations and hallucinations driving a model 3

Has anyone noticed these too, perhaps because an EV is so quiet and consistent day to day, little phantom sensations become noticeable and giving clues on how the brain and mind works. After 2 months and 6000km: 1. During constant speed autopilot, stepping on the accelerator pedal causes no...

Thoughts on not choosing acceleration boost on M3LR

After mulling a couple of months on this silly and almost entirely inconsequential choice, I've gone with no boost because you cannot go back to standard drive mode (other than the one off/refund method). If the boosted "upgrade" allowed 3 drive modes, chill/standard/sport, then I'd go ahead...
