    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Updated to 14.8 today and I think the auto cancel indicators are performing worse: only switch off sometimes, with corners ok but lane changes (even on clearly marked freeway lanes) much less so. Just my impression day 1. Anyone else notice this?

    Australian Model 3 highland accessories

I have this one: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B09MXG2K8L/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 Straps around headrest seem fine, it just needed to extend a little higher up the seat. Has a non-slip surface on the seat and a quilted fabric layer on top and seems to be well...

    Australian Model 3 highland accessories

Mine doesn't slip but doesn't quite extend high enough if the dog goes ballistic passing other dogs, so I have a T shirt over the headrest and under the cover that fills the gap. Black on black so nearly invisible. Training the dog but that seems far-fetched atm.

My no-regrets purchases: Roof sunshade (mine is Haloblk grey) Dog seat cover Front inlet rubbish guard and one for the cabin air intake under the bonnet Floormats (again, Haloblk) Front seat belt insert silicone cover (for scratch prevention but I like the feel of it each time I belt up) Dash...

I gave my fingers a real pounding before I used a flathead screwdriver to lever the left edge over the pedal. Went easily when I did that.

    Best roof shades?

I have the HaloBlk roof shade. The only one I have used so cannot comment on others but very happy with this one. Pre installation my head felt the radiant heat from our Perth sun pretty badly, now not an issue. Easy to install and looks like it came with the car to me. Apparently it is made...

LFP battery - how often is too often to charge?

In the spirit of continuous improvement I'll knock my max charge to 60% and see how I go.

LFP battery - how often is too often to charge?

Jeff Dahn videos on battery degradation informed my approach. I try to charge my NMC battery often within a narrow state of charge set to match my usage (short trips). I tend to operate between 50% and 70% ... could make that 40% to 60% which would be even more battery-friendly but given I...

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

My steering wheel made the same noise (from day 2). Service Centre heard it immediately on a short drive and I get the wheel replaced in June (issue is an inaccessible part in the wheel).

A bit uglier looking, but I use those net-like screens that slide over the window. My need is to block my dog's view so she doesn't go berserk when we pass other dogs but they also block sunlight.

    Single Phase Charging Options

I am in Perth, have solar and went with the Tesla Wall Connector. I work from home and tend to trickle charge with excess solar. Cheaper and lets me operate in a narrow state of charge (apparently good for the battery). I use the 7kW charge potential now and then and am happy to have the...

    Dent repair Sydney

Seems like an optimisation exercise to me. You could seek quotes on your insurance to test what difference a recent claim makes to the cost. If less than $4,700 (net amount saved via a claim) divided by 3 (until you get a no claim period again, or maybe 5 years?) then worth using insurance...

Only works when there is a barrier behind or in front from what I have noted, even just a kerb. Something I have adapted to really quickly. I look at the screen before moving off, of course.

Mistimed it again! Model 3 Price Drops and Performance on sale

All true. I expect LR sales in WA to pick up as the car is now less than $72k while the EV rebate lasts. Will be good to see some more on the roads.

Mistimed it again! Model 3 Price Drops and Performance on sale

https://www.tesla.com/en_au/model3/design#overview The cost of enthusiasm - I knew I should have waited. LR now $67,900 in WA (down $4k),so qualifies for $3,500 rebate. Performance model on sale for ~$14k more drive away (EDD July to Sep).

    New Model 3 Performance news

... and already enough risk of speeding fines with the LR! It so quietly builds up speed I cannot let myself drift off with the sound system.

A double kicking for me. It took me too long to realise that you have to remove the grill layer to expose the holes properly so you can insert the male end. Dohhh!
  22. TM3RWD

    Australian Model 3 highland accessories

My mats finally arrived and are, as you say, top-shelf quality. The roof sunshade and the windscreen sunshade are also very good (the windscreen shade took me a little while to get used to setting up, but easy with practice and works well).

    Enhance Commander Unit Capabilities

Well, less lane keep assist specific than a general wish to let me be the organ grinder and the car be the monkey. Other drivers of my Tesla have been particularly unnerved by the warning sounds. I haven't been too bothered by anything so far but would happily have every warning turned off -...

    Enhance Commander Unit Capabilities

For those with the Enhance Commander unit, does its functionality extend to turning off driver assist functions or warning sounds permanently? Or even providing a one button click option to do this (the emergency braking, lane keeping warnings etc? I suspect not but live in hope.

Yes, I won't have to worry about my inbox being filled with update status notices. At least they can find my front door - other couriers have sent me photos of parcels sitting outside strangers' doors proudly announcing that delivery has been completed.

You have done well. I just translated a message dated 3 April (that only appeared on the Yanwen website today) saying "arrived in Port waiting for collection" Presumably my mats have reached Hong Kong. Never again. How a premium product is sent via such a sub rate courier is beyond me.

Still waiting on my mats. Haloblk might be waiting for another change of season before admitting that they have been lost en route. Good to know that they actually draw that conclusion at some point. No more international store for me either.

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Just me or has regen braking been softened since February? On my test drive in Feb my memory is that the LR pulled up more abruptly than I am finding now. I am using the brakes more than I remember in my test drive ... hardly a scientific test, though.

    New M3SR vs LR

I went back and forth on the LR/SR. So much of the car is identical. Faster acceleration, more speakers and different door inserts, NMC battery on the LR ... and the extra $$$. An impulse buy for me in the end after a very parsimonious year.
