FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Totally. I have seen case where people forget them on. One has to always pay attention and not take it for granted.
  2. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Very informative. Thank you! I'm a FSD monthly subscriber on a 2023 MYLR with EAP. Certainly not an early FSD tester but hopefully they will include me in the tester group. The fact that I have not yet been updated to 2024.14.X is promising! Fingers crossed!

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

seems like 2024.3.25 is also getting on the 2024.14.8 now... still no 12.4 of course!
  4. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I agree with the logic here but feel its cheaper in the long run to just signal anyways.
  5. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

This following is from the code book for CA. It doesn't talk about whether or not there is another car in the lane you're merging into etc. You must signal or face the potential ticket.
  6. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

it still visualizes traffic cones on the side of the road so I think it sees the objects such as trash cans but not shows it on the screen. As long as it sees them and avoids them I'm ok with it.
  7. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Talking about visualization... what happened to the trash container visualization? Somehow I notice they are not shown anymore when lined up on the side of the road. They used to show before but I think post 12.3.4 or .5 maybe they were dropped.
  8. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

TBH I don't recall taking notice of this. I will wait to get 12.4 and take the same road and verify
  9. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I had this issue in tight winding countryside road where the speed limit was 55 and car was not slowing down for the upcoming tight turns. Seems like the car ignores the yellow warning signs or suggested speed to take the curve with. Map data should be used to manage this I suppose but it may be...
  10. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I saw it couple times on 12.3.6 and it is still wrong

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I think we should have a class action started to demand fresh wiper blades every 6 months until the autowipers are made to work well. My wipers dry-hump my windshield so often that the wiper blades are already toast. ;)
  12. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

All this talk about FSD giving us strikes about looking at the screen for too long... I totally agree this is not sustainable but I think most of us are missing the point. We are at the mercy of the screen because Tesla has a vision of removing physical control elements (ie buttons, levers...
  13. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

How long ago was this? I find that even now on 12.3.6 the car drifts out of the curve / lane in these intersections. One situation I almost always have to take over.

Agreed. I was simply asking for clarification based on the information James provided in the first place. I realize he is not running a non-profit org or a charity. Its totally fair that he adjusts his pricing to include any increase in his costs.

Apologies if I'm misunderstanding this. If your cost has gone up already for existing subscriptions then of course its fair to go to this new price for us. Not clear whether I'm being charged $4.99 or $12.99 at my next auto-renewal of monthly subscription fee. Thanks for clarifying.
  17. O

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Understand that you will need to passthrough this cost however if it is still free as indicated in the link you provided then your subscription fee for now should remain the same. I would understand that you keep the lifetime price at the elevated level to protect yourself but the monthly fee...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Thank you for sharing your experience. I agree this a tough edge case to resolve. Will see what happens after 12.5 comes along. Fingers crossed
  19. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Totally. We have lots of organ donors living on borrowed time. Not sure what are the parameters here in CA for legal lane splitting vis a vis speed but either way they could be ticketed for going over the speed limit.
  20. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

'23 MYLR on 24.3.25. Consistently seeing this issue with motorcycles cutting lanes causing significant braking. Anyone else noticed this? Example : I'm going at 65 mph and traffic flowing about the same speed. Out of nowhere a bike shows up speeding in between two lanes say at 80 mph. As the...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I found this other news article on the topic which quote some figures from Luminar https://www.theverge.com/2024/5/7/24151497/tesla-lidar-bought-luminar-elon-musk-sensor-autonomous "According to Luminar, individual lidar sensors cost around $1,000, including software. Did Tesla buy 2,100...
  23. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

The article says Luminar reported $2 million revenue from Tesla. I googled the cost of lidar used in autonomous vehicles and numbers between $100 to $500 per piece come up. Even if $2 million is spent on the high end, say $500 per piece units that makes 4000 units which I think is more than what...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I went back to my post from a while back (v12.3.3 at that time) to answer this question. I'm hoping the new AI stack will address some or all of these problems on the freeway.
  25. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I hope they bring the AI stack to the freeways as well. I can't wait to see how it will behave on the freeway
  26. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Interesting how this happens to me all the time on one particular intersection and then doesn't happen on some others. There must be something in the surroundings to cause this anomaly.
  27. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Any idea when Tesla will move highway driving to the new stack? Is this something we will see in v12.4, 12.5 etc or is it a v13 thing?

Hello James - Could you kindly comment on the feasibility of this? Thank you
  29. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Where do we discuss the questionable routing choices Tesla Nav makes? These are there regardless of who is driving (ie me vs FSD) but when coupled with FSD they lead to disengagements as I need to take over to keep the car going the proper way.
  30. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

This is great to hear! Thanks for sharing your first hand experience.
  31. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

All this talk about torrential rains being rare events where even humans have to pull over... I get it. Torrential rain is probably not the "must have" capability for L4/Robotaxi to be able to drive in. But how about snow? Light to moderately heavy snow covering lane lines and other road signs...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

There are numerous threads bashing Elon so I don't mean to add more on it but allow me to say this much. Elon is saying or not saying things based on how he wants to shape the Tesla narrative and stock ticker curve. I think many of us have learned to take things with a grain of salt when it...
  33. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I really want you to be right and my 2023 MYLR to reach L4/Robotaxi without any need for retrofit. I really want Tesla/Elon to be right on this. I just feel the rate of progress is not fast enough.
  34. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I read your sun test idea but still don't think the camera sees or computer behind it process as far as human eye can see especially in low light conditions. Example : when you drive in non-lit country roads at night the pillar cameras tell you they are blocked. I can still see the side of the...
  35. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

So true. Issues relating to weather, pitch black conditions etc need to be addressed before they get anywhere near L4/Robotaxi. Human eye (yes even my aging eyes) can still do much better than Tesla vision when it comes to distance and low light performance.
  36. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Totally agree that this is the way to go. Our vision only cars can only see as far as the camera hardware allows which is still far less than what human eye can do. Example, we can see the red light coming and start slowing for it in a gentle way far earlier than FSD can do. Another one, on a...

James, is there any data feed coming from the new direct Tesla Telemetry & API on AP & FSD usage? Currently Tesla offers no statistics and I'm sure many like me would like to have some data available on their usage of these technologies. I would like to see the following if possible : Miles...

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

When the monthly subscription for non-EAP owners came down to $99 I felt we were not treated fairly as our monthly should have come down to $45. Now at $2K for purchase flat out I feel we have a good deal and I'll most likely go for it. May go month to month for a while and see how this...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Thanks for doing the legwork on this. Amazing isn't it. Also of note for me were the number of fatalities involving a Tesla where its most likely not the vehicle that caused the accident. ie Motorcycle hit Tesla etc
  40. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Thank you very much for sharing that link. As sad as any single fatality is, considering the number of Tesla vehicles on the road and miles driven, I think the outcome is still encouraging. I also note this is AP fatalities data and not FSD and then again not FSD on v12.x. It will be interesting...
  41. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Question for those in the know... Does FSD v12.x factor in the rear camera feed in how much it can regen/brake coming up to traffic lights when its yellow? I had couple hard slowdowns for yellows which most humans would fly through. In these cases there was no one behind me so no risk of...

    FSD now $99 a month

I've always wondered why Tesla does not consider a station wagon version of the Model Y. Keep the vehicle exactly the same and just change the rear hatchback design to give us a more boxy rear with higher volume. I am considering getting an Rivian R2 in 2 years only to have access to larger...

    Lower Subscription Price Coming?

Paid EAP vehicle owner here. Previously FSD subscription was offered at $99 per month while it was $199 for non EAP vehicles. Now it is $99 for all. We need same reduction applied to the EAP vehicles and have FSD offered at $49 per month.
  44. O

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Are you an EAP user? If no and the monthly came down from $199 to $99 that is great news for you. I am an EAP user and had $99 per month for FSD so I would expect my cost to go down to $45 etc but it is still showing $99

I took couple rides in Phoenix, AZ. Rides were in downtown area and coverage zone was limited. Only drops off where it deems safe to stop so your ride ending may not be exactly where you wish to go. Drive quality was smooth, I would say similar to Tesla FSD v12.3.3. Follows speed limits to the...

Not sure if these have been mentioned before. I have been using FSD v 12.3.3 for a while and have about 500 miles on it. I agree with all positive remarks on how much it has improved. Few areas where I am consistently seeing issues and will look out for future improvements : 1) Too late to...

@James@Tessie - is it possible to add actions into Automation that trigger Controls such as close windows? This would be a good use for the capability when we leave windows open or at Vent position and rain is coming. Thank you for considering.
