Vibration on brand new Model X at about 38mph to 60mph

These vibrations are subtle. For example the best way to check the smoothness of your X is to put your palm against front seat headrest or even lean your head and also check side mirror. You may be surprised- it’s more vibrat-y then my Y for example but only if you pay attention, not super...

Is the 2023 Model X suspension just not refined?

Can someone with a MX help me out and share their suspension data when on a flat surface preferably. My right half shaft had to be replaced only after 3k miles and it was after replacement that I ever bothered to check this data and the sensor is consistently reporting higher than the rest in...

Is the 2023 Model X suspension just not refined?

No leak issues here as well. Parked at 49% for last 3 days with 3-4 wake ups. Sadly many other issues but charge drain not one of them yet.

    multiple systems disabled

Requires steering rack work/replacement in most cases shared here. You can clear these error codes by entering and exiting tow mode (in my case it helped) but I would not trust this not returning. The thump and codes is precisely what happened to me. Tesla said it replaced steering rack - 2023...

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

I posted this elsewhere and is a bit off topic - but hopefully some members here can give me response. Does any of your Model X or S exhibit this front wheel real time suspension measurement difference? Right front is consistently higher than left front during driving (where it varies) or parked...

    Twisted second row seat belt

Same crap happened to me after I removed a child seat. Until this thread, Tesla’s app questions on my part proved utterly useless with them thanking me about my feedback when asking how to untwist (?!?) Tried rotating the buckle - impossible, will try extending fully. Unbelievable this is not...

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

Yep a few hours is enough. Something I should try is chill mode - it wonder if Plaid mode requires battery to get quickly warmed up. Also I can’t switch to full rear bias as in track mode enabled S but curious if S that has this, would rid of it in full rear bias similar to other vibration that...

Updated "more robust" front half shafts for Plaid??

Don’t know about this - my late 2023 MXP needed a right front half shaft replacement so whatever parts they were using in Nov 2023 still break down in no time and I drive like a grandpa most of the time. How do I inquire about these uber-halfshafts and their availability? Anyone got a part number?
  10. M

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

Two different Tesla techs told me my MXP cold vibration at the beginning of each drive is due to an interaction between the suspension and the “stiffer tires” these EVs use and disappears when tire warms up - i.e. they seem to chalk it up to some sort of tire temperature related resonance. When...

Terrible service experience, why my 2023 Model S is a regrettable purchase

Your model 3 is not a model X or model S. I have had both a 3 and a Y and they have been way better. My 2023 X quality almost matches the OP’s though I would have gone lemon or buyback long ago if I were him, and I still have hope for mine to get fixed. There’s something broken with the QC at...

Terrible service experience, why my 2023 Model S is a regrettable purchase

Nope, he’s not the exception. I just came back from a body shop that fixes some of the quality of delivery issues of unfortunate owners and they confirmed they see too many of these. When it comes to quality of assembly and defects I would believe Tesla is towards the bottom of the rankings. I...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

Did a highway test drive - after right front half shaft and right front tire change under warranty (which could not balance on the hunter road force balancer well) car is much smoother than before. Cold vibration still there but I won’t even bother wit that. All I need now is to figure why the...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

So the seat vibration felt in the headrest is still there after my passenger side half shaft change and wheel balancing. I was curious to check the live suspension data and noticed my front right was consistently a bit higher than left front on multiple surfaces whereas I would expect the...

There will be after market stalks by then. Also USS is good but not critical.

Terrible service experience, why my 2023 Model S is a regrettable purchase

Keep the Y till they update it likely next year and get the new one. The Y is the best quality vehicle from Tesla’s lineup. My 2022 MYP has had very few issues in comparison- only a rear window regulator and hvac fan replacement.
  18. M

Terrible service experience, why my 2023 Model S is a regrettable purchase

You’re not alone. My MXP has been in service 8 times and 2 mobile appointments in 6 months. Not as many days as you but more than 20. Some of the issues caused by screwed up repair. I also have body shop appointment to finally fix some delivery issues that were never properly fixed. The right...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

So my passenger side half shaft lasted a grand total of at most 3.2k miles and could have degraded much earlier. After replacing and tire rebalancing ride is a bit better but the top of the seats still transmit some vibrations especially felt if leaning head against headrest. This half shaft...

How many service visits in 6 months of ownership is too many before asking for a buyback

Thank you. I’ve already read this. The whole thing is deliberately murky, with words open to interpretation such as “substantial”. The fact that I’ve already been not in possession of my vehicle for more than 20 days in 6 months of ownership is substantial to me. But I’m choosing not to ask for...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Now that Bloomberg is publishing unflattering articles about Tesla, will they also become the target of Elon’s social media discrediting swipes or is Mike Bloomberg a bit smarter than the dummies at Reuters when it comes to building a news org...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

I don’t have persistent vibrations only cold ones but I was just notified my half shafts were deemed needing replacement only after 3200 miles since delivery and I barely ever launch this vehicle for what its horsepower and torque should allow me to. Maybe I need to lower it like so many here.
  23. M

How many service visits in 6 months of ownership is too many before asking for a buyback

I think the whole story about the defect having to be safety related or life threatening is BS. A defect is a defect. Can’t fix it, buy it back. Or go thru lemon (last resort).

FWD paint rubbing on the inside of C-pillar 2023 edition

I guess I have to count myself lucky they only replaced my rear quarter windows which are already factory tinted, since the FWD rubbed off some of the black trim on top of it and in the process gave me some small paint chips as the tech couldn’t be bothered to put masking tape when prying the...

How many service visits in 6 months of ownership is too many before asking for a buyback

No, the car is now in the SC since Wednesday wit ETA We’d 22nd but at least I spoke to a fairly nice tech who acknowledged all my concerns and they also made a body shop appointment to fix some alignment and relatively minor cosmetic issues. Technically I probably qualify for lemon law as total...

Is it time to dump and run?

That’s an easy one even though the question is not directed at me - while I don’t “hate” him, I can barely stand the guy not because of his viewpoints, but because he’s stopped being an effective business leader at Tesla as hinted by multiple indicators including high burnout of executives...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

I’ll let you know how it drives next week - car in Paramus (again) with ETA pickup 22nd. Hopefully they would have resolved the leaky half shaft and can now test with the newly balanced tires. The stock tires with a properly aligned and road force balanced car should not fare any worse or better...

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

Ah and let’s not forget the half shafts. The tire shop also noticed my right half shaft was leaking grease and had a torn boot. Only 3.15k miles. Being examined now at the SC among a few other things.

    Seat Vibration/Tremor

My MXP has very obvious vibration in the passenger seat that I can feel by placing my palm just behind the headrest. I have changed the stock continentals almost right after delivery so this is with the pirelli weatheractive non stock tires. There are two reasons behind this. One is the seat...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Apparently Musk wants to convince you of the same judging by his Twitter/X rants - one wonders why doesn’t he simply refute it instead of getting involved in childish attacks on the source. Maybe discrediting a source is one way to deal with inconvenient revelations?

    Snippiness 2.0

That’s a pretty obtuse comment and I usually don’t get involved in forum squabbles or labeling, but can’t pass on that one. Needing the $ is to be interpreted as “need to have a paycheck right away, severance is inadequate, I’m afraid I can’t land a new job soon enough” and not needing $ in...

Is this why Musk has been going off on Reuters in his tweets lately? https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/inside-story-elon-musks-mass-firings-tesla-supercharger-staff-2024-05-15/ Confirming the personal nature of this action - to show his exec who’s the real boss. And this...

    2023 MXP front axle issue

Yeah the Hunter machine is what measured this it turns out. Tirerack agreed to swap the tire under warranty. Going tomorrow to change it and rebalance. Then need to ship tire back. $100 or so later I hope this turns out better. For the leaky half shaft boot I have service with Tesla on Wed among...

parallel universe: assume $ is not an issue (gas, payments, etc.), would you still insist driving MX/MXP SUV over say BMW X7 SUV 100% fully optioned ?

That’s how they all are. Mine is even worse on driver side but since that gap is present on all (gap is above door and no gap is rear quarter window) I decided not to bother asking them to correct it any time I did so some other damage was done. That piano trim chipping on rear quarter is from...

parallel universe: assume $ is not an issue (gas, payments, etc.), would you still insist driving MX/MXP SUV over say BMW X7 SUV 100% fully optioned ?

Some of the gaps you show like in the 3rd pic where the rear quarter trim meets the trim above rear door are normal and all Xs have them. But some of the other stuff is unacceptable of course. I guess that debate got settled. You won’t get a perfect vehicle with an X - they don’t exist.

MXLR or inventory MXP with repairs

what I’m saying is I would buy a demo or a showroom car or a near new used car if I can verify the so called repair is indistinguishable from new. Whether it’s an actual demo not being relevant, more like the warranty and state of the car. A repainted door can be inspected for color match and if...

MXLR or inventory MXP with repairs

are you allowed to see it? If you can’t tell the difference the inventory car may turn out to be better than the production one. I’d buy a demo if I’m allowed to inspect it.

parallel universe: assume $ is not an issue (gas, payments, etc.), would you still insist driving MX/MXP SUV over say BMW X7 SUV 100% fully optioned ?

I’d still get a Tesla but … From now on every Tesla I buy would be with a cashier’s check and after compiling a thorough list of quality checks at delivery including being able to open the car, doors, trunk. I’m going with a magnifying glass and a gap measuring device too. There’s no way ever I...

    Driver seat stuck again!

Try going thru this thread. Since you had this working for 6 months it doesn’t seem straightforward to reproduce. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/20-ms-driver-seat-stuck.261820/ The tech telling you not to move the seat all the way back is BS needless to say. Insist on a proper fix...

April 2024 MX Delivery Info Share

I also have a model Y that’s mostly issue free. I’m not against Tesla in general, but I’m not at all a fan of how they operate when facing customer concerns. Certain design and execution issues of MX vehicles aside, my biggest gripe has been with service center experience. In contrast, mobile...

April 2024 MX Delivery Info Share

The Model X has serious quality issues imo. From the half shaft issues, to tire wear, to body panel and fitment and deteriorating cabin noises as the vehicle ages and inconsistent door sensor function. Not easy to fix. Love it when issue free but it hasn’t been.

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

In talks to tirerack to replace the right front tire as part of warranty. Will see what happens with the leaky half shaft boot when I go the the SC appointment next week - service ticket number 10 since December.

April 2024 MX Delivery Info Share

Count yourself lucky if the X doesn’t get cut in the next round of cost cutting. Don’t worry about the camera - I’d worry about the viability of this car as an offered product and a camera won’t change that (the ambient lighting nonsense is not even worth commenting on, completely useless feature)

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Yes but why would it measure so? Wonky tire? I guess he is saying there are two separate issues - wonky wheel / tire and leaky half shaft boot. He wrote “R/F axle boot torn and losing grease” - isn’t that a sign of failing half shaft? Axle boot is the end of it no? Aside from asking Tesla to...

    Peeling yoke replacement

lol, unbelievable. Not that bad - in line with how Tesla fits its exterior body panels, but kind of terrible actually. Imagine if you iPad or iPhone came with gaps and leaked backlight. Why can’t someone just put a QC fail sticker before this makes it to the customer?

    2023 MXP front axle issue

Road force measured and balanced my 2023 MXP today - stock height, 3k miles Left Front - 10 Right Front - 37 Left Rear - 20 Right Rear - 17 As you can see RF is too high and not in balance with LF. The balancing did not reveal a bent wheel though so the tire tech suspects “a front axle” issue...

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Ok, so aside from the “glass smooth” debate, which is a bit of a distraction from the topic, I decided it was time for me to do true road force balance check as I never thought my MXP was glass smooth and a Tesla tech riding with me for an unrelated test drive told me he thought my front...
