For 2023 Tesla owners who purchased & qualify for $7500 tax rebate but have yet to received the form, here’s how…

My return was accepted with my VIN via TurboTax but I just received a letter from the IRS claiming there was an error on my return because they could not verify my VIN for the Clean Vehicle Credit. I did some research and Tesla did not have my Form 15400 in my Tesla Account but I just requested...

Just updated to 2023.13.9 - Why is my MY charging?

My off peak rates always start at midnight, so instead of scheduling the Departure (your shared image 2), I schedule by Charge, then "Enable Scheduled Charging" and "Start Charging at 12:00 AM." I'm not sure if that explains/resolves your issue, but the setting is working great for me. The...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

The 4D1 motor is manufactured in Austin and almost every Austin build MYLR is now coming with them. Most of the 4680 MYAWD are getting the 3D5 but we are now starting to see some with the 4D1. Fremont MYP's often have the 4D1, as well, but the MYLR typically has the 3D5. You can look at MY...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

My tracking has been focused on US/domestics motors, but we did get a couple responses from Canadians. I'm not sure why. but their Fremont built MYLRs received China built motors (3D6 or 3D7).

Lots of questions about the new base Model Y coming out of Texas

The 4680 battery MYAWD (or just Model Y on tesla.com's order page) will typically come with the lower performing 3D5/990 motor, whereas the MYLR and MYP vehicles typically get the 3D1/980 or newer 4D1 hairpin motors. This is probably why the 0-60 times are a bit slower versus the MYLR (and why...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Read post #204 in this thread, Jim Smith did some data logging with Ingenext and highly recommended the upgrade.

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Ok, my tracking spreadsheet is getting a bit too big to share the image, but I am seeing some trends. First off, some MYLR vehicles initially had the F in the 8th VIN digit, identifying as a performance (and having the 4D1 motor). That has seemed to stop with all recent MYLRs showing the E...

Just received my new car without ultrasonic sensors

Same here, not impressed so far. I honestly would prefer to disable it, since it makes annoying chime noises and I can't even trust the distance estimates

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Thanks. The 3D3 you attached is for the front motor, the rear 3D1 is what is most important. For now, I will assume the 3D1 was also manufactured on 2/26/23 (23057). Not sure if your MYP is a 2/2023 or 3/2023 manufacture date.

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

I have received information from 20 MY's - only 2 are Performance and the other 18 are LR. Of those 18, 16 had a performance motor (3D1, 3D7 or 4D1) and 2 had a standard motor (3D5/990). I'm still hoping to get info from from a MY AWD. It does appear all of the 3D1/980 and 3D5/990 motors are...

2023 Model Y no USS discussion, incl. Discussion of Tesla Vision Firmware

The person later corrected the statement by saying the feature was found in update 2022.45.11. I'm a bit confused, because I do not have USS and am already on 2023.2.12. Do FSD Beta vehicles run on a completely different software version?

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Read post #112 in this thread, Ingenext offered me a 25% discount if I would let them do some testing on the new 4D1 motor. I'm not a big speed guy, however. it looks like you have the 3D1/980 Performance motor, which is typically compatible with the Ghost upgrade.
  13. J

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Thanks for the sharing the video. People seem to think the hairpin motor can improve performance by 20% to 30%, but his theory is Tesla is choosing to provide a hairpin motor with similar performance, but with 20% to 30% reduction in rare materials. That would make sense but is still just...

No charge stats in the tesla app?

The app charge stats are restricted to the owner account. Are you the owner or an authorized driver? I recently purchased a MY and can see the charge stats but I'm also an authorized driver for a M3 but can't see those charge stats - since I am not the owner. This is from Tesla Support "Note...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Thanks, SirRod. That's the first MYLR with a 4D1 motor without an F in VIN position 8.
  16. J

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Agree, most have been 3D1 motors, but It'sMeRoger just accepted a Fremont Build MYLR with a 3D5/990 motor, although I don't know where the motor was built. RobTheGob is in Canada and just received a Fremont build MYLR with a 3D7/770 motor from China.
  17. J

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Not to throw any salt in the wounds, but I reached out to Ingenext when I found out I had one of the first 4D1 motors - to see if they know if the motor was compatible and how it would perform with their ghost module. They were shocked I had it in my Model Y LR and offered me a 25% discount on...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't get too hung up on having the 3D5/990 motor, this is honestly what should be expected for all MYLR. The MYLR getting higher end motors are currently unable to see any significant benefit, since the software is limiting performance so that all vehicles perform...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Agree with others, very interesting to see a China built motor in your Fremont vehicle. So far, the motor placards have been using build code GTX, which means Giga Texas. Your motor's code is TG3, which stands for Tesla Gigafactory 3, referencing the China manufacturing plant. FYI, this...

2023 Model Y no USS discussion, incl. Discussion of Tesla Vision Firmware

This is a perfect example of how Tesla tends to use misleading statements. It says "your vehicle now fully relies on camera vision to measure distance" but that actually isn't true since the functionality isn't available. What they should be saying is "Tesla has removed the ultrasonic sensors...

Real World Range on 4680 Battery?

I'm going to chime in here, because I am consistently seeing threads where people are mistakenly calling the Austin build vehicle, with 4680 cells, the MY Standard Range. Tesla only makes a MY Standard Range in China with a single motor and 244 miles of range, (does not currently sell them in...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

There seems to be an assumption that the Juniper cars (and beyond) will be better than today, so potential buyers are debating if they should hold off on their purchase. So far, Tesla's emphasis seems to be on producing the vehicles more efficiently and at a much lower cost, which could...

M3 and MY eligible for CA CVRP rebate after Tesla price cuts?

I agree, this is what I did. In regards to the online Tesla account, I vaguely seem to recall seeing a temporary registration document when I submitted forms in the app, but I couldn't find it in my online documents list.

Having second thoughts on picking up MYP

If you are interested in the Ioniq 5, why would you feel a need to pay the added cost for the MY Performance? Most would argue the MYLR and MYAWAD's standard features exceed the Ioniq 5's highest end Limited Edition car, which starts at $52,600. Last I checked, most Hyundai/Kia/Genesis dealers...

M3 and MY eligible for CA CVRP rebate after Tesla price cuts?

$2k is for a Battery EV, like the Tesla. $4,500 is for the Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicles - I think there are only a few eligible vehicles in that category. The additional $2,500 "increased rebate" is restricted to lower income applicants.

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

I'm starting to collect some data, but still have some holes in the responses. As a reminder, please provide the following information to help identify trends: 1. Model and Trim (MYLR or MYP). 2. VIN (You can drop the last 3 digits, but please include the 8th digit to see if all 4D1 motors...

Should the MYLR be charged to 50% only?

If you have a very predictable travel schedule and can sleep better at night with just a 50% charge, do what makes you happy. I personally don't always know what my travel day will entail and would be very frustrated if I didn't have enough range if plans change. Yesterday was a perfect...

Should the MYLR be charged to 50% only?

You gotta love the logic: "You should always charge your vehicle to 50% because the battery could eventually degrade and create the inconvenience of only be able to charge to 50%." Wait, what?

Heated Seat and explaination of "Not Provided" on bottom of display

The heated seats icon used to be visible on the task bar but Tesla did a software update that required a click on the climate control to see the status. This drove me nuts because my wife would leave the passenger seats on and I wouldn't know (and they don't default back to off when you...

Need help on a question on fitting 2 bikes in the Model Y

This is my setup with a 1UP USA "Super Duty Double" rack. I love the rack but am concerned with the lack of visibility to my brake lights when both bikes are installed. I don't want to get rear ended and, if it happened, don't want any insurance disputes do to the lack of brake visibility. I...

M3 and MY eligible for CA CVRP rebate after Tesla price cuts?

I applied on 2/13 and uploaded the docs immediately after. I received an email verifying documents were received at 3:34 PM. Not sure if it matters, but I submitted a prior application on 2/07 but it was rejected the following day (because the MY wasn't on the eligible vehicle list yet).

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Yes. The E in the 8th digit represents the MY "standard motor" which was expected to be the 3D5/990. But all of the previous responses with the E (December and January build date) have had the 3D1/980 Performance motor. Every MYLR with an F in the 8th digit has had the new 4D1 Performance...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

That's a good question, I missed his post and it was the first recent vehicle with the 3D5/990 motor (expected on most MY LR). I'm suspecting an E in the 8th digit and it must be a MY LR, since all of the MYAWD (which some call SR) come from Austin but this is a Fremont build. I would also...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Thanks for sharing, I think he meant to ask if the build date was 2/2023 (February). That info can be found on the car's sale sticker or in the driver's door jam (upper left corner on the white sticker, not the yellow tire PSI sticker). Some other info that would be helpful, if not too much...

I read the tips earlier on this thread for using the provided 1UP pin lock, but it was impossible to insert with my setup. Well, I could get the pin through but didn't have enough space to add the locking mechanism and insert the key- way too narrow. I did reach out to...

M3 and MY eligible for CA CVRP rebate after Tesla price cuts?

I just received an email from CVRP, letting me know my application has been approved and I should expect a $2,000 check within the next 90 days. I purchases a MY LR on 1/19/2023.

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

Are you able to make out the first line of your 4D1 placard? It should start with GTX (GigaTexas) then have the two digit year and day of the year. It would be interesting to see when your motor was built. So far we have LR 4D1 motors built on 12/09 (day 343) and 12/19/2022 (day 353). There...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

I agree. It appears all of the 4D1 motors are being built in the Austin GigaTexas plant and probably intended for the MY Performance. But it's my understanding Austin does not build the MYP, they all ship out from Fremont. I can't help but wonder if there was more recent demand for the LR and...

What motor does your 2023 Model Y have?

I put together the attached table from the responses received so far, and every 4D1 motor has had F in the VIN's 8th digit. One was a Performance built in Fremont and the other four were Austin built LR. Note that every LR has had a Performance motor (3D1/980 or 4D1), but Austin builds with...

Advice on charger location in garage

If it was me, I would not install where the Shoplift is, since that means the connector's cable would actually have to run behind your MY to the back left charging port. My garage is setup very similar to yours and I placed the wall connector where you proposed in option 2, so it only needs a...

Is this dModel Y Panel Gap Normal?

Yes, that gap is normal. The upper panel on the rear hatch will always have more of a gap then the forward panel it meets up with. This is by design, because the rear panel needs to lift open and close whereas the forward panel should remain fixed and have a tight seal to limit water access...

    Model Year 2022 Refresh M3/MY

Can one replace a MYLR rear motor with a MYP motor?
