Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Not relevant, in any way. Hundreds to thousands of 21" Michelin OEM tires, mounted on Plaids, have had inner sidewall failures, with only a small fraction captured here, yet we're on Page 85 . . . . The expectation (apparently common on this thread) that every Tesla Plaid owner should be...

Model S Plaid 19" vs 21" rear inner tire wear question.

Are those the OEM 21" Michelin tires, and were they on a Model S Plaid? Thanks!

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

According to the Tesla Service Center, all settings are at factory spec as they demonstrated to a Michelin Field Engineer. To my knowledge, nothing came of it however as it appears they’re still selling the same tire to Tesla?

Model S Plaid 19" vs 21" rear inner tire wear question.

Then you must not have a refresh, 2021+, Model S? For the MS, 2021+, the speed for low ride height cannot be adjusted AFAIK, thus this may not be the best thread to be posting in…. Do please advise.

    EV-CPO.com CPO Consolidator support thread

No idea on the option code for Sport Seats, but it must be in the web page code as it’s in the description now. Hope you’ll find a way to keep the site going, despite the many obstacles Tesla keeps throwing up to degrade your site….

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

I disagree as to "sensitive to this" doesn't mean they are defective. We're talking about an OEM installed tire that in seemingly every case is literally coming apart at the inner sidewall, a nearly impossible place to notice a tire coming apart. The Pirelli's mounted on the same Plaids, but...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Yes, I'd presume most Tesla Service Centers aren't too concerned about getting into a Michelin warranty replacement--they just want your money I'm afraid. Try these links below, and note that Discount Tire IS a Michelin dealer (although nearly all of them want to just sell you a new set of...

Plaid 21” rear tire woes - factory defect?

Wow, a sample size of "ONE" with an unknown wheel/tire combination (BUT NOT AN OEM combination), and there are literally tens of thousands of Plaids since 2021 with 19" wheels with next to zero issues. So "absolutely positively not a Michelin issue" is a pretty huge jump, no? Not much...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I wonder if you have any recourse to hold them to the previous value? As in, anything other walking away, or threatening to do so? The timing just seems so damn sketchy, and Tesla has a very long history of screwing people over on trade-ins, especially on trading in a Tesla for a Tesla. (As I...

Model S Plaid 19" vs 21" rear inner tire wear question.

Concur 100%. This is a Michelin tire construction and/or design defect, and it affects next to zero of the Pirelli 19" OEM tires . . . .

Be sure to take delivery of your Teslas soon folks--don't delay. If this is the sort of "thinking" found on an erudite board on TMC, guess what's in the heads of the average shmoo walking the streets . . . not much in the way of facts and logic. No need to bother with any facts--their minds...

THANKS! Didn't see that, but it is a bit subtle. A friend in WA State reports that the Fife location has a demo unit with the new seats so they're slowly working their way into the Galleries; I'll have to try a visit soon. Thanks, again, for finding that.

Plaid center console light turns off when fully opened?

Curious, but is Tesla STILL shipping center consoles with the wrong switch (assuming yours wasn't from a recycling yard)? Also, how hard is it to replace the switch? I ask as I think all of our refresh MS's (all 2022's) had this issue and each time it was a new console. Wouldn't it have been...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This is in the US; UK and EU likely have different lease/buy incentives. Given the low cost of a base M3, the $7.5k US EV incentive has a massive impact on the lease cost, driving it to $299/month. Also, I suggest that to be categorically against leasing is imprudent, especially when the net...

Let's stay on topic folks. This is a thread for those contemplating a Tesla delivery. A few here are trying to decide if they want a Tesla, or an ICE with propulsion technology from the previous century, when we burned fossil fuels for propulsion because we didn't know the long-term...

I'll try not to be too damning-with-the-facts, but getting the Tesla will help leave a usable planet for others to enjoy, both while you're alive and long after. The BMW does the exact opposite . . . so this should not be a hard choice, right? Please allow me to be blunt: the vast majority...

    Tire foam, remove or not?

Sadly, there's still no way to sort for Plaids again, and ditto for 2024 Model Year cars. Both result with no returns. Lastly, two suggestions: 1. When searching for Model Year, the drop down menu begins with 2012; better to drop down from 2025 or 2024 as most will search for latest MY. 2...

Alignment is Perfect, STILL Pulling to the Left

Is this normal or they will denied

I would consider changing your order to the new Model 3 Performance ASAP as it IS eligible for the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit, which makes it a very, very good value in comparison to the Long Range M3 (which is NOT eligible). It's simply a stunning car, and a far better value (yes, they ramble...

Alignment is Perfect, STILL Pulling to the Left

Where is this bushing, exactly? Front or rear suspension? Top or bottom? I ask as our '22 MS Plaid has become very peculiar of late, with a STRONG pull to the right on deceleration, and oddly, sometimes on acceleration. A quick visual inspection on a lift doesn't reveal much so I guess the...

    Tire foam, remove or not?

Seems like a bit of stretch, no? The foam makes a measurable impact on road noise. Puncture repair is easily accomplished at any tire repair shop at minimal cost, far, far less than the cost you will pay to remove the foam for a perceived fear that the foam may come loose . . . . Leave well...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

No, of course not. But it's an RT. It can decide when it's battery is too cold for safe regen based on how much regen MAY be needed for any given drive. High altitude pick up near a mountain west of Denver, for a drop off in Denver? A lot of regen may be needed. Flat lands of Wichita? Not...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

While this is the investment thread, you assume that regen will be insufficiently powerful to apply sufficient negative torque. I don't believe that assumption is accurate. I hope to find out on 8 August at the RT reveal.
  48. T

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

In an RT they will be--the car won't ever be at the top of a mountain with a full charge and unable to regen . . .
  49. T

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That's the key. In an RT there won't be any "regen unavailable" situations . . . because it won't let itself get into those. (Also, since when does "low battery" not allow for regen?)
