Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

IF that is the original battery. Quite likely that amount of supercharging was done at a service center/factory to get it charged up for transport. Also, that is based on the battery, not car.

Model S Technical / Mechanical Issues

Crazy, I've gotten defective parts OTC locally, and they were more than happy to switch them out. Can you try a different service center?
  4. islandbayy

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

Due to low number of orders, REAL 40's were never produced. Instead, all the 40's were software locked 60's. For a fee, it could be unlocked to a 60, and another fee would allow supercharging. No hardware change required.

Recell: certified replacement battery packs for low-range/bricked Model S

At the 1 year mark in my 2012 P85, going strong. If memory serves me correctly, it has a higher kWh capacity than my 90 currently holds (after degradation!)

Legacy S Camera Upgrade - (Lost Features) (FSD)

I upgraded my front camera myself. The picture has better colors than the original red/grey, and clearer, but honestly, the picture is still crap, and amazing thats what is being used for FSD. The backup camera level would have been the minimum i'd have thought they would have used. If you...

Maximum battery charge level reduced - warranty about to expire

What you see in terms of charge cycles on SMT, is what the BMS reports as what it considers the equivalent of 0-100% charge cycles. Not actual physical charge cycles, but the equivalency of 0-100%, which is what a "charge cycle" is.

2013 MS 60 Battery Failure, have 85 pack: How to swap?

Just curious, have you tried 100% charging a couple times at a SUPERCHARGER. Not AC charging? I find the balance stops MUCH sooner with AC charging compared to Supercharging. Example, my MX was out of wack last May when I went to pick up my Mother In Law from Ohare (Coming in from China). I 100%...

What is 12v battery replacement cost

I'm coming up on 2 years and over 60,000 miles, at least on my Ohmmu. It was the older version without the self heating. It has been working flawlessly since install. For some reason, Tesla decided to Overcharge the lead acid batteries, and they are being cooked and the electrolite is being...

There is an after-market product called Jdemo, which allows the roadsters to use CHAdeMO DC fast charging.

CCS & NACS now possible for Roadster with Jdemo mod

Good morning everyone. I don't frequent this area at all, but thought I'd pass this along. Most roadster owners know about the Jdemo upgrade, that allows CHAdeMO Charging of the Roadster. One of my acquaintances at a EV Accessory factory sent me this last night. They have released a CCS1 to...

2013 MS 60 Battery Failure, have 85 pack: How to swap?

Oh of course, I'm not denying that. But given the circumstances in which it took to discharge that much, in the grand scheme of things, and if the vehicle is going to be used regularly, it's a drop in the bucket :-) Should give plenty of life on his 2013.

Steering U-Joint Lower Shaft Issue and my Solution so far.

Eventually a replacement WILL be necessary. But this can extend the life quite a bit, or if caught early enough, extend the life a VERY long time :-) I'm about 70,000 miles since doing the original fix. With it kept lubed, the grim and dirt aren't really collecting on it like it was, and I'm...

2013 MS 60 Battery Failure, have 85 pack: How to swap?

The car already threw that error due to the brick imbalance. It shouldn't be much of an issue though, since as glhs said, it took 6 years to discharge that much. much. It only threw the error because the imbalance was there when they powered everything back up. With the error reset, and the car...

2013 MS 60 Battery Failure, have 85 pack: How to swap?

Thats Awesome! Keep charging to 100%, it will keep balancing out. Lower SOC discharges to 100% help too. Since you have free supercharging, spend a couple hours at one getting to 100% (from any SOC). They balance better at a supercharger.

X90D battery being replaced with 75kwh battery under warranty!?

I'll make a note, I HAVE seen Tesla install alternate packs temporarily, when they've had one in stock, that way the owner can be on their way while the correct was ordered and waiting for delivery. Not as much these days as in the past, but still done. Some are even labeled as Loaner Packs.

Take out HV batt pack / cut out bad cell? (S P85+)

Would be more intricate with larger packs that vehicles have these days. Back in the olden days, of conversions, and things like the old Zap Cars, we had a different method of balancing the lead acids. Instead of using resistors to bleed off the higher voltage batteries, the balancing hardware...

For just $2,500 more, why did you order Model S (non-Plaid) over the Model X tax edition 5 seats ?

I have both, older versions, but pretty much same opinion applies to newer ones. For same battery size, the MS will have much more range. Prefer the MS as a daily driver. More comfortable sedan feel. Can't stand the falcon doors. Massive PITA. Also turned off the self opening front doors the...

Tesla wanted me to replace my Battery, turns out it was the dc-dc- convertor

Interesting. Surprised they needed to disassemble the pack to see that. A tool like ScanMyTesla or TM-Spy would have sufficed. Glad it worked out for you though! Service centers can be hit or miss. Some are absolutely amazing! (Milwaukee, Wi, USA) Others, worse than the shadiest used car dealer...

Touring US with camper trailer and FUSC -- Bad Idea or Really Bad Idea?

There were design changes with the 85 pack mid-late 2015 that addressed a number of the original design issues. Not too many 85's with that design though, first gen 90's & 75's benefitted from the change. Yes, original 90 packs had same number of cells with more dense chemistry. What you are...

Touring US with camper trailer and FUSC -- Bad Idea or Really Bad Idea?

First Gen 90's had premature degradation. Mine falls under that. It dropped like a rock the first 2 years. It has now leveled off and held around 240 miles rated range for about 4-5 years now and holding solid. It's also charging faster now than when new and overall, appears rock solid...

Touring US with camper trailer and FUSC -- Bad Idea or Really Bad Idea?

90 battery will be exponentially more reliable at this point than the 85. Faster charging as well. I'll post some videos later. Generac makes a generator that can directly charge the car, without needing any jumper or hack plugs. Similar teardrop to Airborne's Locally though, I use my Model...

Touring US with camper trailer and FUSC -- Bad Idea or Really Bad Idea?

I've taken my camper all over the country with my Model S and unlimited supercharging. Caught myself the first time going cross country with it doing (Redacted Speed due to self incrimination) MPH through south dakota. Tows so well I forgot the trailer was back there. Range will suck. Would...

Anyone with success getting Tesla to undo their unjust SC01 -> SC04 that happened after buying second-hand?

For #3, it would depend when the car was originally sold, and only for the original owner. I don't have the dates, however, the TOS/Fair Use Agreement did not prohibit pretty much any type of usage up to a certain point in 2016. After that point, the TOS/FUA would then apply to vehicles sold...

2013 MS 60 Battery Failure, have 85 pack: How to swap?

Thanks Ray. me and glhs I believe have met. I think at one of my EV Parties I host yearly. Recell is currently best option for out of warranty pack replacement, just replacing straight up. Mr. Erickson in Iowa would be ideal for you to send both you car and the battery to have it swapped and...

    Tesla releases New Yoke

Sounds like breach of warranty to me. Not a lawyer, maybe one can chime in? However, the remedy would be either timely repair, or they would be financially responsible for loss of enjoyment of the warranted product. Could always file with your state for non-compliance.

I had this EXACT issue after going through a carwash with my 2016 MS. Only, upon exiting the carwash, the car "went into neutral" and was free rolling. Clarity around CAC imbalances, voltage imbalances, bad bricks, and battery warranty - 2015 90D

It's changed a few times over the years, Not sure what the current shutdown voltage is, however, I'm seeing approximately 2.5v as a hard limit under load. I'd guess when it cannot sustain 2.5v per cell under any load/circumstance, thats when it will shut down. Without doing it myself, which I...

Clarity around CAC imbalances, voltage imbalances, bad bricks, and battery warranty - 2015 90D

The buffer is capacity that is not accessible to the driver. Your BMS's capacity calculation was just off. Once the car shuts down, that 4kWh buffer, is what is still left in the pack AFTER shutdown. This is to prevent the battery from being bricked if not immediately charged after shutdown. IF...

While I wouldn't recommend posting the contact info publicly, as then they will get inundated with every little complaint possible, what is the first name of your areas regional? Finally updated Saturday(was really holding off especially until after a road trip which we had to cancel due to 3 sick kids...), I see no operational differences on my AP1 after 1000 miles. Definitely will NOT be upgrading my FSD MX though for the time being. Either way, I'm not thinking they...

How many miles on original battery ?

Sure were different times back then. I actually miss the original Model S cup holders. Your 2012 should have them. They have the little fingers that grab and hold you cup still to keep it from wobbling or bouncing. Might pull them out my 2012 and put them in my 2016. Haven't decided yet...
