There’s been a lot of buzz lately about Tesla Extended Warranties so we’d like to share our comparison
of the Tesla ESA (Extended Service Agreement) and XCare EV Protection.


· Both provide world class coverage (XCare coverage is modeled after the ESA).


· While the Tesla ESA has only one term (2 year/25k miles extension)
XCare offers more coverage term options to better match your plans.


· The ESA is only available to first owners, where XCare is available to all owners.


· Drive for Uber/Lyft? XCare allows commercial use, Tesla ESA does not.


· Drive lots of miles per year? XCare has plans tailored to your use case.


· The ESA is only available to vehicles that are still under the factory warranty, but with XCare
you can begin coverage at any time before your vehicle reaches 125,000 miles (100k miles for Model X).


· Roadtrip planned? XCare has trip interruption and rental car reimbursement. Tesla ESA does not.

I see it, but it doesn't cover any Tesla prior to 2016 it looks like. It also doesn't cover other some other Manufactures, but all that have excluded High voltage and drive train still have rates that have spiked up as well for the extended warranty. So maybe they need to still work out the issues on the pricing.

Think I may have misunderstood. I thought the coverage offered was both included but maybe you need to purchase Premium and the Battery & Drive unit so two separate polices?

Oh. I think you're right. It looks like I misread it. Anything older than 2015 can't get battery coverage.

I assume this is a measure to prevent people with failing batteries to get a replacement for cheap. But a lot of 2015's are still under warranty.

Thanks for the question, and yes we noticed right away the short/long glitch ! If your vehicle qualifies for XCare Premium including Battery and Drive Unit coverage, there is no need to purchase the Battery and Drive Unit standalone coverage. We offer the standalone coverage for folks that just want "catastrophic coverage" of those very costly components, but don't mind absorbing all the other repairs. Hi EV_D, Thanks for the input, and happy to help!
The new coverage pricing is a shared-risk across the portfolio, so the vehicles that qualify for the coverage have a greater price increase, and the ones that don't also have a price increase, just smaller. We've held the line on pricing over the last couple years, but needed to raise rates to compensate for increased costs due to inflation, higher per-hour service rates at Tesla and higher parts costs. We just ripped the bandaid off at the same time, with the price increase and additional coverage in one release. Thanks for the input, and happy to help clarify! Brent @ XCare

Sadly that's correct. Our Insurance partners wanted to limit to 2017 and we lobbied quite strongly to get alignment on going back to 2016, but 2015s are outside the parameters. Wish we could have helped :-(
2016s will fall out at the end of this year, and so on moving forward.

@X-Care EV - is there a price adjustment for a Tesla under a Tesla ESA? Would a 2016 under ESA until 2024 need to purchase coverage this year to get battery coverage?
