I am becoming a bit more than irritated with all of the self-righteous jackasses policing the official Tesla web site forums for some kind of Tesla purity. It seems any time there's a negative commentary by a poster about Tesla, a group of people can be guaranteed to jump on them and attack them.

Not a great way to help people, IMHO.

Why is this forum better able to avoid that nonsense?

Pretty much the norm. "Official" sites are moderated (or not) by someone who has other responsibilities, no real buy-in for the product and no sense of community. Forums started and run by enthusiasts have a better chance of success b/c the attitudes of the owner/moderator set the tone for discussions and what the level of tolerance for snarkiness, political correctness, etc. While there are all sorts of personalities including those relentless Tesla fanatics, they are kept in check by the limits imposed by the moderators.

It's all down to good moderators and blocking or quick removal of actual trolls. On the Tesla forums, moderation is weaker and trolls are a real problem, which causes people to be paranoid.

I guess here we first assume everyone is honest, but there people assume you are troll if you say negative things.

Not everyone is equal here. The number of posts you have ascribed to you and your reputation add weight to what you say. People that have only 5 posts and no reputation that are spewing negativity are easy to identify as trolls and can be ignored.
