I think they just need to install the transformer, do the signage, and reline the parking spots. So, not much left to do other than wait for the transformer.
In my opinion, this will be a bit of a sh!tshow if they open it before Christmas, but if they open it after Christmas it should be no big deal. Malls get very slow in January and February and by the time it gets busy again, people should be relatively accustomed to the supercharger. To a certain extent, superchargers police themselves when they are busy with people charging.
Not surprisingly, there is still no transformer. A couple of weeks ago, they put fencing back up around all of the pedestals. That may have been an indication that they aren't expecting the transformer for a while, or it may have just been to avoid any damage from the holiday shopping crowd.
We now have a transformer. Work is being done. Fences are down, and a Tesla guy is on site. Sorry for the blurry picture. I will check the site again around noon.
Noon update: Work is still being done. I talked with one of the Tesla guys. He said they plan to have it up and running today or tomorrow. So, if your a person who likes to be first, get ready.
I was surprised to see the Tesla people there as the transformer installation was being finished. They must be eager to get this one up and running. I will be driving by again in about 15 minutes. I will post if the site has been activated.
I plugged in at about 44%. The power shut off on me at 87% and again at 92% after a restart. My car is old and it was somewhat cold, but that hasn't been a common issue for me so there might be a few kinks to work out at this station or at least with that stall.
