Hey all! I've been searching around for a few quotes to install the Gen 3 Wall Charger in my garage. One has come in at $1200 (over the phone quote), the other around $1850 (on-site). Both are reputable companies (the more expensive quote is from a Tesla Certified Installer, the other company also specialises in EV wall charger installations).

Curious what others have paid and whether the $1850 is a bit pricey? The on-site quote was more thorough which leads me to believe it's the more indicative price.

The installation requires: new dedicated circuit in switchboard (1-phase), wiring up into the roof and down to the other side of the house (from right-side to left-side, approx 20 metres), trench required to hide cabling since the garage is detached from home (trench distance is 1-2m max), circuit protected by 32A RCBO + single pole isolator, allowance to upgrade main switch to protect consumer mains from additional load.

Thanks!

Sounds like a reasonable price, especially with the extra bits like trenching, 25M 6mm, switchboard hardware. , Small investment in the big scheme of things, and if they are doing all the work, you come home to a shiny new charger on the wall without lifting a single tool :)

Sounds fair, but any electrician can install a tesla or indeed any ev charger (technically it‘s a connector not a charger). It’s installation is no more complicated than any other hard wired appliance.
Only a couple of little details but might vary from state to state. As long as the sparky is conversant with the regs in regards to things like type of RCD (type A or B) and the really weird rules in QLD should be good :)
