Reputation points?

I'll again suggest that a simple compromise, that would be really non-invasive, but would still preserve the history of the old reputation system, might be something along the lines of the following:

In case it isn't obvious, the number in "Legacy Reputation", or whatever the admins choose to call it, would be static, just like the join date.

They have talked about adding a stat there for the new numbers being gathered, and this would not preclude or in any way detract from that.

There could possibly even be an option for users to not include their Legacy Reputation (or whatever it will be called) if they chose not to.

I really think this would be a good compromise.

Edit: Did I go high enough this time Bonnie? ( I didn't want to go to five digits, because I KNOW you would be the only one that five digits could possibly apply to, and the spacing already looks funky enough!)

Wow, great. Now I think I could have passed Bonnie if you just didn't change the forum...

But I don't know if I should pleased with my top 20 status, or upset that my eyes, even with reading glasses, misread "posts" as "points". I hate getting older (and losing my reputation points!).

Not if you eliminated all the general housekeeping posts as a result of moderating for so many years. If you look at the top posters, most are moderators or past moderators. There's a reason there are so many posts.
