With the new consol, you can dock your phone. I was told that I could have Tesla thread a lightning cable to dock my iPhone in. My question is, what size cord size is ideal? I'm seeing some as small as 8 inches to 3 feet. Any suggestions?

Or you can order it from the tesla online store: Tesla — Quick Connection Phone DockTo be clear: the new console does NOT have the iPhone dock standard. You have to upgrade to the premium package to get the iPhone jack included.

This is correct. It is your choice to spend the money, but I found I was far better served by doing a very small dremel hole to the blank that is already in there, and using two dabs of hot glue to secure the cable. Running it up through the channel that is already there is just the same process as the old center console. Picture below (it is the old console blank, but nearly identical in process and procedure to new blank). To be clear: the new console does NOT have the iPhone dock standard. It worked a week or so ago when I ordered mine. I'm sure it will be back when they have more in stock. That link says "currently unavailable for purchase online"
I guess I'll find out in 2 weeks when I get mine center console installed. My salesperson told me it's complete junk and to not waste the money.
If you think about it plz post an update. If it isn't crap then I want oneI guess I'll find out in 2 weeks when I get mine center console installed.
This is why you shim the connector.Mine was in a box in the glove box. I have the premium interior package. The plastic adapters are to fit the regular size iPhone or Plus. It came with an android cable and iPhone cable which runs under the rubber tray. Good thing there are 2 USBs though because it isn't deep enough to fit my iPhone Plus with a tech21 case.

I got the dock also when my car (with premium) was delivered last month.Mine was in a box in the glove box. I have the premium interior package. I find it quite easy to dock my iPhone 5S with the guides installed. There are smaller guides that would presumably fit an iPhone 6. Note that since the connection is bluetooth about all you get from docking is phone charging.I don't think this is correct, as I do not have the premium package on my refreshed model S yet both the micro usb and lightning cable adapters were included when I picked up my car. I also am not a fan of either, as I found them very clumsy and difficult to dock. I set up a wireless charging system in mine that is working great so far..

I don't have the premium package and didn't get it. Plus both my sales rep and DS said it only came w/ premium package (or via the Tesla store after order). This is a ss from the configuration page:
