Model Y hatch closing

Anyone experiencing an odd issue with their Model Y hatch closing - about 1 out of 10 times the hatch will just close with a thump, instead of the soft close - normal? I have not adjusted the hatch and have had the Y for six months now...

Mine does it all the time either close softer or harder than previous. I don't think MYs have the soft closing feature. It just gravity and weight of the hatch at the last minute of closing which can be either softer or harder than before.

See if its off center, riding closer on one side.

Mine (also about 6 months old) always seems to close fairly softly...I have never noticed a thump.

Along the lines of mateo's suggestion, I wonder if it happens when not closing it on level ground. I seem to be fortunate in that I am always loading and unloading in a level spot, so I don't know if that would make a difference or not.

Is it possible one of the struts is defective? I've read in other car forums of that possibility.

Mine thumps with any door open. It will auto close and suck in with the doors shut. Try it out yourself
