Model 3 Performance Brake Discs and Pads

Hey Everyone!

I need new brake discs & pads for my Tesla Model 3 Performance. Tesla have quoted me just over £1,600 for front & rears which feels massively overpriced.

Does anyone know where I can source aftermarket (or indeed OEM) brake discs & pads for the car?

Thanks!

Any of the usual suspects (Euro Car Parts, Autodoc,) or a specialist like Brake Discs

All the brake parts on a Model 3 are made by Brembo.

If you're DIY'ing the job, this is a handy thing to buy which makes servicing the rear brakes easier: Tesla Model 3 EPB service cable
Unfortunately none of these sites seem to stock Model 3 Performance brakes. I have been able to locate some pads, but the discs are impossible to find online?

Thanks for the tip RE rear brakes!

Oh really? I'm a bit surprised but it may be because the calipers (and pads) on the M3P are pretty much unique to that model.
So, the other option is buy the parts from Tesla and get the work done yourself or by a local garage.
When I last checked the prices a couple of years ago the rotors were (each) £125/£92 (front/rear) and the pad were £138/£259 (all + VAT). There is a spring service kit too which is about £15.
The prices may have gone up a bit, but that could still save you a few quid depending on the hourly rate of the garage. If you can do it, you'd save £500+.

HTH.

Thanks for the reply! I’m going to focus on the rear axle for now, Tesla quoted the following:

Rear Discs: 100 (each + VAT)
Rear Pads: 300 (for axle + VAT)
Labour: 150 (+ VAT)

So about £650 including VAT for the rear axle.

I’m thinking of getting aftermarket parts and doing it myself.

I’ve found https://m.autodoc.co.uk/textar/19151914 and https://m.autodoc.co.uk/brembo/18255795 which I believe should fit the Performance rear.

Would anyone be able to confirm if these will fit?

The front discs on a M3P are 355 x 25mm and the rear discs on a M3P or M3SR/LR are 335x20mm.
So the rear discs are the same size between models, BUT the M3P discs are each constructed of 2 pieces made of different metal. Tesla call them "bimaterial".
So those parts on Autodoc will be for the SR/LR as they aren't "bimaterial".

I think you're right about the aftermarket not offering direct replacement M3P discs. There are some companies offering uprated discs for track use but it looks like Tesla will be the only place to get OE ones.

Also, strictly speaking you should use new caliper bolts each time you remove them, so worth getting a set of those at the same time. Torque setting is 94Nm for the fronts and 83Nm for the rears.

Ten years ago I paid £1,100 for just the front discs on a BMW motorcycle.
Perhaps you could check the cost for comparable Brembo kit for an ICE car.
Whilst that knowledge won't make yours any cheaper, it might put the sense of being ripped off into perspective.
