Laser false alarm (Escort Passport Max 2)

Hi everyone,

I’m a new MXP owner and this is my first Tesla. I have an old Escort Passport Max 2 I’m using in the MXP, and I’ve noticed that it sets off a laser false alarm in certain cabin areas, especially next to the rearview mirror. The only two areas where it doesn’t set off a false alarm is far above my head near the headrest area, or to the lowest driver-side windshield corner.

The detector otherwise works fine sitting there but hitting the mute switch becomes a pain, either through the cigarette power adapter or reaching all the way to the windshield corner to shut it up. Does anyone with a newer Escort detector have this issue? If not then I’ll probably go with the Max 360 v2; does anyone here have experience with it in their S or X?

I had same issue in my 2021 X7. I had to find the source of this laser which in my case was sensors that detector hand gestures. I taped that up and false laser stopped. Alternatively, it's to disable laser.

On a side note, has anyone hardwired radar from power source near the mirror? Seems like refresh units don't have switched power.

Also, there is no laser in the tesla. AND, laser is pretty much useless with radar detectors. You'd need a laser jammer if its legal
But no issues here with my model Y with the blendmount on the rear view mirror and the model x with it high which is what you want with radar signals as high as possible! :D
