It's "brake" not "break"...or is it?

brake : imagine a spy car that has a rake you can deploy to slow the car down
break : imagine someone holding a vase, seeing a mouse, yelling "eak!" and dropping the vase

With the pilots union they may have been in their mandatory brake period during takeoff and had to stop the break to brake
