To all of you that have incorrectly used "breaks" over the years...you are officially forgiven

this is what I learned in 9th grade and have not forgotten it...

brake : imagine a spy car that has a rake you can deploy to slow the car down
break : imagine someone holding a vase, seeing a mouse, yelling "eak!" and dropping the vase
