Installing a hitch and 7 pin trailer plug on Model S.

Hi folks. Just wondering if anyone has installed a trailer hitch and 7 pin trailer plug on a model S. It would have to be able to haul 3500 pounds and deal with 350 pounds hitch weight.

We are considering a model S for our next tesla but it needs to be able to tow our little teardrop trailer as we do that with our model Y now.

Thanks in advance.

John.

At least in the U.S. if you add a tow hitch this does not void the warranty. However, as the S is not approved for towing, if you tow and then you have a problem with a motor, suspension, drivetrain, etc., Tesla will deny any warranty claim.

Better to get a Y or X.

That’s a good point. I think S’s have a tow rating in Europe (not sure) so wonder how that fits in.
