City of Vancouver installing 9 DC Fast Chargers in 2018

The City of Vancouver will be voting this week on amending existing bylaws to require that all new condo buildings provide EV charging infrastructure for ALL resident's parking spaces (up from existing requirement for 20% of all spaces). Good news for EV owners, if this passes.

Meanwhile, in the related staff report there's discussion of in-progress public charging network expansion in the city, with info about new DC Fast Chargers coming soon. I had not heard of these new charging locations, until now.

in summary, by end of 2018 there should be a total of 9 DCFC operated by the City, up from the 1 existing DCFC at Empire Fields

Locations:
- Empire Fields - replace existing BC Hydro-owned DCFC with new DCFC + 1 L2 (early March)
- Telus World of Science - 1 new DCFC + 1 L2 (early March)
- Homer St, near Dunsmuir (next to BC Hydro office) - 2 DCFC (by Mar 31) - part of the Curbside Charging pilot program
- W. Boulevard at W39th Ave - 1 DCFC (by Mar 31)
- E47th Ave & Fraser - 2 DCFC + 3 L2 (by Jul 2018)
- Richards & Smithe - 2 DCFC + 1 L2 (approx Sep 2018)
- also 2 new L2 chargers at each of the Trout Lake, Killarney and Dunbar Community Centres (by Jul 2018)
