Delivery has nothing to do with hov stickers. Its dependant on when you apply for the stickers. I took delivery in October, applied for the stickers in January.Has anyone gotten a purple sticker, who took delivery in November?
I've been seeing purple stickers out there but so far every one of them has had a DEC registration sticker. Wondering if NOV people are stuck with red. I'll find out soon enough but the suspense is killing me.
reported a day early,
Mailed 1/2
Cashed 2/12
Stickers TBD
Man nothing yet for me... Maybe I should write them a second check. They already wasted 1/6th of one of my years.
I guess I should call them tomorrow, but I mean, I didn't think you are supposed to be able to speak to a real person at the DMV unless you drive there and wait for 5 hours? You sure you talked to someone for the DMV over the phone? Maybe I will just re-apply...I finally called DMV last Friday and they searched my License plate number and there was no activity. This suggested to her, that DMV had not received my application. The DMV operator told me since it's been over 6 weeks since I mailed the application, I should reapply. I attached a note to the second application, explaining the situation with the name and ID of the DMV operator explaining that she told me to reapply. Hopefully, this will help with the confusion if my original application is found and processed. Good Luck !!!

From my experience last summer and getting my registration stickers 2.5.months after mailing it in(different car), dmv does not have a status of your application if its in the building but still in the envelope in a big pile.
I didn't see a way to pay online? Was there one? From my experience last summer and getting my registration stickers 2.5.months after mailing it in(different car), dmv does not have a status of your application if its in the building but still in the envelope in a big pile.
I called after a month several times and the first few people I talked to fed into my concerns that it could of been the post office losing it. I kept waiting and calling and finally someone said they were backed up and notified chp about people not getting their stickers so that's why I kept waiting. Still nothing in their system about my application.
Eventually they processed, what I sent 2 months prior.
BTW, I normally pay online but this time for some reason required a scan of my insurance card so I could only mail it in.
Hi Model 3 owners,
I have a confusion on application timeline for the HOV stickers in CA.
Following are my Model 3 delivery details.
- I took delivery of the vehicle in the 1st week of Feb 2019.
- I got the temporary plates in CA when I got the delivery(I believe this applies to all new vehicle deliveries in CA starting in 2019). The delivery specialist told us that because of this rule we can apply for a sticker immediately. Is this correct?
So, the Qn is Can I apply for the HOV stickers now OR do I need to wait for the Registration papers to come from the DMV?
Thanks!
All you need is the license plate number and you could apply. The form just need your vin and license plate number, purchase date and all the other info you already got. Nothing new will come with the actual registration that you need for the HoV decal app
Once a vehicle registration record is created for the vehicle and permanent license plates are issued, the database will be updated with the permanent license plate number and the authorized user querying the information will be able to query the permanent license plate number.
Thanks for that info.
So, my question is since this license plate number is designated as "temporary" & it does say on the license plate that "it will expire in 90 days", will I get the same plate number when the DMV sends me the "permanent" plates?
This is what I found from the DMV web page:
Temporary Paper License Plates
The DMV will send permanent plates with new numbers to replace the temporary ones.
I didn't see a way to pay online? Was there one?
