What is the best way to leave the Model S during a month-long vacation? I'm thinking plugged in with a lower peak charge?

As long as you don't anticipate needing a higher state of charge immediately after your return, that would be ideal.

Set charge at 50% or 60%. Plug it in and let it top off daily. Check on it once in a while on the app so you feel better.

I routinely leave mine plugged in and parked for months at a time. I have never had any issues.

Plugged in and set to 50-60%, but also turn off scheduled charging as well. If the car gets a bad firmware update while you're away or the MCU crashes, it may not be able to charge unless it is set to "always charge". Scheduled charging requires the MCU to be working while unscheduled charging will work no matter what state the MCU is in.
