Base Model no subwoofer anymore?

I just read in some German news that Tesla is removing the subwoofer for the MY base model, first in the U.S. & Canada.

They are saying that so far, there were 13 speakers, 1 subwoofer, 2 amps.
Now that's supposed to be reduced to 7 speakers, NO subwoofer, 1 amp.

Has anybody heard about this from a source in the U.S.?

All LR / P versions of Model 3s and Ys have had whatever Tesla desginates as "premium audio" at the time of the release of the car.

I think it’s just part of their product differentiation strategy for the base models. It also helped me decide to pull the trigger on a 2023 base model Y since it still had the full array of speakers.
