Apple Testing Autonomous Car Tech in California

Apple has received a permit to test autonomous cars in California, according to a registry of such efforts posted on the California DMV website.

It’s an interesting development considering Apple has been predictably quiet about self-driving car technology and had yet to acknowledge publicly it’s working on self-driving tech.

The permit covers three vehicles, all 2015 Lexus RX450h, and six drivers,” a DMV spokeswoman told Business Insider.

California requires any manufacturer of autonomous technologies to apply with the state before it can test an autonomous vehicle on public roads.
