It did only occur when the antenna was active, and not always (it was very intermittent). I'm thinking of retrying it someday: my issue may have been the sky facing antenna was still inside the vehicle (right under the sunroof) and having it in the same compartment as the transmitting one may have made for confusing echos/interference.
