Has anyone heard from Tesla on when/how they will fix this issue?
Since Model Y is not yet out in the wild, it’s unknown if it has this issue.I am in the market for a new car and this issue would be a deal-breaker as one of the major problems with our existing car is inadequate ventilation in the back seats. Does anyone know if this same issue applies to Model Y and/or X?
Now that cold weather has returned, I am having the same issue as last winter. I contacted service and text response was the following.
"Hello this is Tesla service. For the Model 3 the front and rear HVAC vents share the same heater starting at the front of the vehicle. In between the center console is a hollow duct joining the two areas. The only way to reduce the rear heat is reduce the overall cabin temperature."
I called and explained to them that I can put my hand on both vents and there is a significant difference in temperature. ie Front is cold and rear is hot. The response was that 'the front is a wide vent and mixing with cooler cabin air and making it feel cooler and that it was not possible for the heater to only be working for the rear". My feeling was that the tech was not going to budge from his position no matter the explanation/example I provided.
In my opinion, is seems to happen on long drives or at least that is when it becomes unbearable/noticeable.
I am going to shoot a video with an infrared thermometer this weekend and email it to them.
I took my car in for this issue; SC acknowledged that this is a known issue and there’s no fix at this time (apparently this has been an issue for some time). Totally unacceptable in my view.
As far as I know, it is. I still occasionally get it, and all I've seen are reports that Tesla techs are stumped / can't replicate.Have not had this issue before but went on a long 9 hours trip and the last two hours it started happening... Weird because the outside temp was going down at the end...
Was going to contact service but is this really still a known issue with no fix???

Hrm. Happened after a v3 SC stop for me... Maybe they need to fast charge to replicate.
The firmware line is their go-to when they're stumped. And FWIW, I almost always have mine below 77 and still get it.that might be it or longer time with the AC running (we went to a drive thru movie)
I was told by SC just keep the temp below 77 ( i like it @ 79) or turn off rear. Also said future firmware should fix the problem.

Personally, I haven't been able to figure out the conditions under which it happens. There seems to be no rhyme or reason.
where does it say that in the manual? or how did yo figure that outRear climate is only supposed to come on when the rear seat sensor detect weight. There is a button on the climate control screen.

Wow, blast from the past! I don't see it in the manual now, but I guess I had some now-forgotten source for that info. Probably someone else on TMC or maybe an Elon tweet. Perhaps someone else can chime in or test it.where does it say that in the manual? or how did yo figure that out
Oh I didn't mean to second guess you....I am just trying to get some good info so when I take it in next week I can have some kind of info to be armed with...thanks an sorry if I sounded arrogant.Wow, blast from the past!
