No it was not. I think you're confusing the Fremont, CA plant under GM reign which was awful before its closure. It was then resurrected as NUMMI, which produced vehicles of FAR high quality. The vehicles produced by NUMMI did pretty well in Consumer Reports long-term reliability ratings.

I've listened to this podcast numerous times: NUMMI. The End Of The Line For GM-Toyota Joint Venture is a transcript but has nowhere near the impact of actually listening.
