    My Service Story (not good)

I feel the same way. I've had similar experience with two major service items. One was a replacement drive unit where they failed to attach a panel properly causing me to be stranded on the way home from the SC and now I have a main battery failure and will probably be w/o the car for a month...

Is Tesla trying to become the absolute worst service organization?

Loaner - Ha! Never got any response to e-mail or voicemail msgs so I called roadside assistance (based on recommendation from here) who got me thru to phone remote support (after 1/2 hr wait). They told me to take it to SC w/o appointment. I did so and now it will sit there for an estimated 3...

Is Tesla trying to become the absolute worst service organization?

They used to say the same thing about Model 3

Is Tesla trying to become the absolute worst service organization?

So, I've had my Model S for just shy of 7 years now and I've seen quite a change in Tesla service. When I first got my car, they where top notch. Over the years however, I've noticed the service level go down, down, down to the point where it's just crap. Today, my onboard chargers suddenly...

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Sure, that's a valid point. But my main point is that what works for some doesn't always work for everyone. I have a short driveway and never leave the car parked there. They need to make stuff like this optional so we can turn it on or off as needed.

    Firmware 8.0 - For Classic Model S

Can anyone explain to me why it's a good thing for homelink to beep at me when I get close to home and it opens my garage door? I find that nothing but annoying. OK it's not a big deal compared to some of the other things they've butchered in 8.0, but it is another example something Tesla just...

    Comprehensive USB Bug List

Me too, but I guess we'll have to keep waiting (it's not fixed in 8.0). I have a feeling they'll never fix this. Seems we're not supposed to listen to music the way we used to. Albums? What are albums?

+1's available to Model 3 unveiling in Hawthorne 3/31

Well, I have a +1 available and I will be going. But... I'm visiting family in the SD area that week, so I'll have to put them first. If none of the family wants to go (fairly good chance because of drive time), then I'll make my +1 available to anyone. I won't know til Mon or Tue of that...

    Supercharger - Gillette, WY

Here are a few pics from last night. Sorry about quality - it was darker than it looks.

    Firmware 6.1

OK - So, good luck with that and enjoy the anxiety! Make sure you go out to the garage every couple of hours to check.

New "No Parking" signs at Glen Allen, VA supercharger

Yeah, this has been an interesting discussion. If indeed the button press must interrupt the charging session for safety reasons (car locked or not), then for the supercharger to be "fair", I think it would have to keep track of the identity of the last car in that stall. Then if the same car...

    Supercharge.info

@BlueShift - I love this site too and would be willing to contribute as well. One thing tho, PLEASE consider moving that "Add custom marker / Add to route" box away from the center of the map. It always seems to get in the way when looking for something.

    Firmware 6.1

Ha! A right, a left, a left, another right, a left to the body, a right, and into a super charging station!
  14. JohnEC

    Firmware 6.1

Yeah, that's a pretty sad situation. Even if they can't load it from the service center, you'd think they could just hold onto the car and request engineering to specifically target your car for download (I know they can to that). Then they could proceed with the debug work.

    Turn Signal Stalk Position Update

So, I have a loaner today and it's pretty new and has the new stalks. I noticed while driving home, that there is a rotary switch at the end of the cruise control stalk (similar to the windshield wiper switch on the turn signal stalk). Does this do anything?

    Supercharger - Manteca, CA - Perimeter Drive (LIVE 12 Feb 2015, expanded 12 Dec 2017, 20 V2 stalls)

Drove over there earlier this evening to check out the site. Not much has changed. Still no evidence to support or disprove the super charger theory.

    Firmware 6.0

I receive notifications about charging every night when my charging schedule activates. Not sure what you mean by "swipe it away". That doesn't do anything on my iPhone.
  20. JohnEC

    Firmware 6.0

Yes - I have all notifications turned on and I do receive charging notifications all the time.
  21. JohnEC

    Firmware 6.0

I received 1.67.28 last night and updated to it overnight. Interestingly enough, I never received a phone app notification about the update, just the notification in the car (I was previously on 6.0 [.15] and I have the latest iPhone app).

    Door handles more responsive?

I've been snagged by this behavior so many times that after seeing your post, I immediately went out to try it on my car. Unfortunately, mine still behave the old way. If I grab the handle before it fully extends, the door won't open. I have to let or force the handles to retract and start...

    Firmware 6.0

Doesn't matter to me. I'm sure they'll find a problem and pause the release just before they get to the block that I'm in. Always happens

    A most unfortunate event :-(

gg_wants_another_tesla, Pretty much everything's been said already. Just wanted to add my $.02. Glad all involved are ok and hope you're back on the road soon. John

    Mirrors won't auto-tilt

This is interesting. I've gone thru several updates (got car in Oct 2012), but I don't recall ever losing my RV mirror settings. I wonder what causes this to occur in only some cars.

    Firmware 5.9

Interesting. I took mine in to Fremont SC for that very purpose and they said they couldn't hear it. Seems like there's quite a difference between the various SC's.

TMC Connect 2014 Registration for those who Pre-Registered

Wow! I'm a bit bummed about this. I never received any email about this event (and didn't notice this thread). Now, I can't seem to find any link to pre-register (I guess that's closed), but I can't register because I didn't receive a password. I attended last year and definitely want to...

Anyone have a window randomly roll down?

I don't know. I don't think I've ever used this "feature" except to test it. But even if it was a feature that I used all the time, I'd rather they take it away (for a while) than risk having a window or windows open unexpectedly while the car was unattended in a public place. I think it's...

    Temperature control

I've noticed that when the outside temp is cold, the cabin gets very warm and I have to turn the temp setting down. When the outside temp is high, the cabin gets too cold and I have to turn the temp setting up. It seems like the hvac tries to compensate far too much for outside temperature...

Nav: Press screen to drop pin?

At the Crissy Field Super Charger event (stopover on the San Diego - Vancouver ride), Jerome said that he'd been testing a new version of the nav (unreleased of course) for a while and that we're going to love all the new features they added. I hope this is one of them.

    Firmware 5.8

I feel so un-loved by Tesla. I was one of the very early reservation holders (reserved in Apr 2009). I then upgraded to Signature in 2011. I've had my car for more than a year now and have done the annual service (yeah, I have pre-paid service for 4 yrs). And STILL I seem to always be last...

Bay Area Tesla Club ride to Chabot Space & Science Center this Saturday

This has been in the works in the "Groups" (see http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/group.php?groupid=25) for a little while now, but I thought I'd post here as well in case more are interested, but don't visit the groups section much. Here's the plan thus far: _ Meet up at Fremont SuperCharger...

    Holy Hot Handles, Batman!

I'd be worried that the tape adhesive would get too hot and I'd end up with a sticky mess all over the handle.

Does the Model S have an OBD-II connector?

I have a somewhat early sig (443) and I have the port right where the picture shows it.

Trouble with logging into the iPhone App?

I was experiencing the same problem, but I haven't upgraded my iPhone to iOS 7 yet. I tried the VisibleTesla app from my PC and it was able to connect to the car. I then went back to the iPhone app, logged out from the "Account" link and then logged back in. Now it seems to work fine.

post your Steering / Creep / Regen

I don't get it. Why would you want to use creep in that situation. You'd have to hold the brakes all the time for all the little stops. I would think it would be easier to put slight pressure on the go pedal once in a while.
  49. JohnEC

post your Steering / Creep / Regen

Sport No Creep Standard regen Been that way since day one (eight months) and like it that way. With all this talk about standard and comfort steering, I may just try those again for a while just to see. Don't want anything to do with creep tho.

Cruise control stalk "speed increase/decrease" behavior

I guess it would be nice to have this work more precisely, but my bigger beef with CC is the way the car actually makes the speed change. When you increase the speed by the large amount (let's say approx 5mph ), the car increases the speed very smoothly. But when you make the small...
