When I go to the roadside assistance app it won't let me request service for a "potential" problem--only if the car is disabled.

Exactly. So far all of the answers have assumed that you charge 40% every day and thus would put a little burden on the grid. But once a week a 40% charge is doing nothing to the grid.

These a*holes get away with hit and runs because no one does anything to them. If they get reported to police and/or if they have to pay for the damage, maybe they will be more responsible next time. And with guys like that, there will be a next time.

Replace the MCU.

Yes happens to me all the time. My backup camera freezes or stutters so often that my backup procedure has become: I carefully watch the image on the screen and if it stops moving I stop the car and wait for it to catch up.

'Open Browser' works. All other voice commands work but can't get 'Close Browser' to work. It acknowledges my command by saying 'Closing Browser' but doesn't actually do it. It used to work. Anyone else having same problem?

That hasn't been my experience with Tesla. I had similar a problem and the service center tried several things to fix it and when those didn't work they installed a new MCU and fixed it.

The compass icon that sets map orientation is also missing when you are navigating somewhere because the Navigation panel covers it up.

I also had hardware updated to HW3 a while back and that was the hardware that needed to be replaced to fix the USB problem. It would be nice for you if your problem is just a bad USB drive so cross your fingers.

How long is the warranty?

They fixed my issue and lots of others on this forum with a new MCU.

Not sure what you mean by "accepted remedy" They don't have a service bulletin promoting a new MCU but I believe that the more savvy service centers are realizing that when other solutions fail (new USB drives, new USB hub), a new MCU will fix the issue.

A number of folks on this forum myself included have had this issue resolved by having Tesla replace the MCU. (After spending months trying new USB drives and replacing USB hubs)

I'll bet that within two weeks your new USB will no longer work and eventually they will decide that you need a new MCU. Happened to me. Took two months to go thru several USB drives and finally they put in a new MCU. Problem solved. And there are more of us who have gone thru the same path.

Fingers crossed. FYI The MCU is completely different from the screen, the hub and the charger.

II's a pain either way. My USB problem was so bad that I couldn't rely on the dash-cam for protection. But getting a new MCU has its issues too: profiles lost, homelink connection lost, wifi credentials lost, etc If replacing the MCU fixes the problem it's probably not a software issue. My 2 cents.

According to TeslaFi there are a lot of downloads of 2021.35.xxx, 2021.36.xxx, and 2040. I don't know what Tesla algorithm matches versions with configurations. But I do know that in my 3 years of ownership, I have gotten every major update every few weeks until now when my version is over 7...

The solution for me when I had the same issues: a new MCU. And there are other folks with the same issues and the same solution that worked.

Maybe they will try replacing the USB hub next. Seems a likely candidate. But if they are smart they'll contact headquarters who will tell them to go straight to a new MCU like they did in my case after messing with my car for two months!

Exactly the same sequence of repairs for me. They have had my car for two weeks waiting for a new MCU. They say MCU replacement will be finished Friday Oct 29.

Did the service people know right away that it was the MCU? Or did they have to do a bunch of diagnostics? They have been working on my car for 2 months before they finally realized that it was the MCU.

When I format using the car it does not create a TeslaCam folder either. But the TeslaCam folder (and subfolders) get created when the car first writes to the USB drive.
