Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

Curiosity. We only hear about the issues typically on forums, so I'm wondering how many folks are still running on their original battery packs to get a small sample size comparison.

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

How so? Isn't the rated range on the display based on the battery capacity being reported? I'm assuming "from the BMS" you're referring to the information you can get using something like TM-Spy. At least in my experience, I've found the displayed rated range to match what is being reported by...

Are you still on the original battery pack with your 2012-2015 Model S?

I don't think there's a way to know the percentage of all 2012-2015 Model S's that have had their battery packs replaced, but I'm curious about the owners here on TMC. In addition to answering the poll, if you want to provide any amplifying information such as miles, rated range at 100%, etc...

    2015 Model S 85D - HV Battery

Sorry to hear - I’m worried this will be me in about a month. My battery warranty ends in December on my 2015 MS 85D. It’s been great so far minus the battery capacity - it’s degraded significantly from 265 miles with ~44k miles in 2019 to now only 202 miles with ~78k miles at 100% charge (this...

7 years later what is your 100% on your 85kWh battery?

I let the battery run down to 9%, then charged back up to 100% and the rated range is now 203 miles. This is similar to what I’ve seen in the past, doing a ”battery calibration” has made very little difference for me. I suspect my battery is just degrading faster than normal, despite only...

7 years later what is your 100% on your 85kWh battery?

Not sure unfortunately because Tesla service removed my OBDII adapter and LELink2 bluetooth dongle the last time it was in for service. I didn't recognize it until recently. I might purchase another one soon just to get a better idea but from what I've seen, the nominal full pack is in line with...

7 years later what is your 100% on your 85kWh battery?

30 Oct 2024 w/ 78,011 miles, 200 rated miles. Kind of a bummer how fast this battery seems to be degrading. I was around 265 rated miles in 2019 with roughly 40,000 miles. I’m going to try a “recalibration” this week (let it go to <10% charge and full charge up to 100%) bit when I’ve tried that...

2015 85D 237k miles, warranty about to expire. Advice on service appointment

I'm in a similar situation as the OP - 2015 85D with the battery and drive unit warranty that expires in December 2023. It's been a great car so far but I'm debating if I want to keep it without the warranty. From everything I've read, it's very difficult to determine if a battery pack or drive...

Pest abatement for Tesla solar panels in the Las Vegas area

Primarily pigeons. Are you saying it doesn't look like a pigeon could get in the bottom or sides because of the skirt/trim that Tesla installs (without the additional pest abatement mesh)? If so, I think they definitely would be able to. If you're talking about with the pest abatement I had...

Apple Music Question - Have an 2016 with AP1

I have a 2015 85D MCU1 on 2022.8.10.8 and I do not have Apple Music… I’m assuming this is the latest version as I updated only a couple weeks ago. Kind of bummed since I was hoping we would be able to get it.

Same on my 2015 Model S 85D. Tapping and holding where it says Model S under Software will bring up the “Please enter access code” screen but after typing in “service”, nothing happens.

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Finally got a technician out after 2+ months in level 2 support queue. The issue ended up being a bad Y-splitter. Specifically, just one side of the splitter was bad where it was reading higher (almost double). I explained all the troubleshooting I did and also the fact that other technicians...

How to run a 11.4kW system beyond the 7.7kW limit?

Correction to this - I’m estimated to lose less than 1% (0.9% to be exact or ~157 kWh/yr), not 0.01% of annual production. The point still stand, I’m just terrible with numbers apparently. 🤣

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Thanks for the update! I have four CTs and tested them individually and they all read high as well, although it’s not always 2x. Sometimes it’s fairly accurate and other times it’s basically 2x. Fingers crossed this is will be the solution to the problem many of us are seeing.

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

I compared the Tesla app numbers from 28 Jul (when I had CT2 moved to CT4 and in reverse orientation) with my energy company and while they're slightly closer aligned, they're still off quite a bit. I think this makes sense if I'm only measuring CT1 with this setup and it's reading high...

When I turn on Airconditioner, Tesla (Solar) app reports strange numbers

It sounds like your CT clamps connected to the service/utility lines in your service panel are installed backwards. When your AC is on, you’re importing from the grid but if the CT clamps are backwards, it will report as grid export which also causes the app to show solar generation occurring...

Tesla app not showing home usage when there is solar

This is very similar to the problem I’m experiencing with a Tesla solar panel system, Tesla inverter and no powerwalls. I’ve spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting the issue which is all documented in this thread, but unfortunately I don’t think the root cause of my issue is a...

    Tesla Neurio Device Accuracy

I posted about this in my other thread but wanted to follow up here: So I went ahead and compared it with my digital clamp meter... measured around 123V for each service line so I just used that as to multiply with my Amps measurements. I pulled the two CT clamps off going to the 100A panel so...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

So I went ahead and compared it with my digital clamp meter... measured around 123V for each service line so I just used that to multiply with my Amps measurements. I pulled the two CT clamps off going to the 100A panel so I was just looking at the clamps going to the 200A panel. Bottom line...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

I actually do have a digital clamp meter but it only measures amps or volts, which I realize I can multiple to get watts but I was under the impression the readings might not be accurate based on this information.

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Just to update anyone that comes across this thread, I'm trying the solution @jgleigh posted above that's outlined in this thread. I moved the CT clamps (again, I have Y-splitter cables that goes to two sets of CT clamps) plugged into CT2 on the Neurio over to CT4 and flipped the orientation of...

    Solar Inverter Undersize

As others have mentioned, you really need to do a comparison of DC/AC ratios using PVWatts with as close to your setup as possible (location, azimuth and tilt are critical). I’m not suggesting Tesla didn’t mess up their design, but it’s easy to get overly concerned based on seeing clipping in...

How to run a 11.4kW system beyond the 7.7kW limit?

It's pretty sad a Tesla solar advisor doesn't understand the 170% overdrive. It's kind of a silly phrase but all that means is the Tesla inverter is capable of allowing up to a 1.7 DC/AC ratio, meaning you can have up to a 12.92 kW system on that single 7.6 kW inverter. As it's already been...

    Tesla Neurio Device Accuracy

I see a few setups in this thread that are inverter only (no powerwall)... at least I don't see it in their app screenshots. I'm guessing everyone just left the Metering page alone. It seems really strange, but this post by @JCLJorgenson is pretty informative. It seems just running 1 CT clamp...

    Tesla Neurio Device Accuracy

So I'm giving this a shot... moved the CT clamp plugged into CT2 over to CT4. I then flipped the orientation of that CT clamp (I have two panels, four total CT clamps so I had to flip two of them... one going to each panel on the same phase). What's really confusing to me now is the Metering...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

    Tesla Neurio Device Accuracy

Yeah, four CTs but they only occupy two CT ports (CT1 & CT2) since they are combined using a Y-splitter cable which I think is a part of the problem. I’m trying to get a service visit scheduled to have them remove the Y-splitter cable and just use CT3 & CT4 for the second 100A panel, just like...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Lastly, for trend data I compared day-by-day from 1 Jul to 22 Jul what the Tesla app was reporting for grid import/export compared to what my energy company report showed. Over those 22 days, the Tesla app is showing I imported 1545 kWh from the grid and exported 1093.4 kWh to the grid. The...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

I should note, I realize I have the CT 2 clamp on the left (or bottom) main service lines, but it matches with the red voltage reference wire circuit breaker. I don't know which side is technically Phase A versus Phase B, but all of the wiring in my panels has the red wires going to the left...
  32. S

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Yeah, checked that multiple times as well. I can't physically see the service lines when they exit the main electrical panel and go into the meter, but I just compared it to the electrical diagram that's posted on the inside door (which is what I used in the original post image). I've checked...
  33. S

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Yeah, I checked the CT clamps multiple times and they are installed in the correct orientation. ”Source This Side” is facing towards the meter (i.e. power coming from the utility). I’ve also checked the voltage reference wires to make sure they correspond to the correct CT input, so the black...

    Tesla Neurio Device Accuracy

So, has anyone gotten anywhere with Tesla support on this issue? I have similar issues but a slightly different setup (two electrical panels) that I believe has a separate installation issue which I talked about in this thread. However, I’m still not sure how moving CT2 to CT4 and physically...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Ah that makes sense. My Neurio is connected to its own circuit breaker. Well, that answers that... Perhaps it is just a configuration issue where the measurement is just being doubled at Neurio. If your grid export exceeds solar production (actual, not what’s displayed in the main page), then...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

I think there’s two issues going on here, but related since they both result in the Tesla app showing incorrect values. My original post I believe is just based on having two electrical panels, one 200A and one 100A with dedicated lines feeding into them from the meter. After a lot of...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

Interesting. My issue seems to be slightly different, although they're probably related. For example, right now I'm producing the max 7.7 kW for solar production and my home usage should be under 500-600W right now. However, I'm connected directly to the inverter and it shows Site Meter: 9,267W...

Tesla Solar Panels & Inverter (no powerwall) with Neurio and two electrical panels

I have a Tesla solar panel setup (11.2 kW) with a single Tesla inverter (7.6 kW). A couple days ago Tesla installed a Neurio energy monitoring device but at times the indications are clearly wrong. The issues only seem to appear when the solar panels are producing energy but basically it will...

    400amp service and Neurio

@daveh85 did you ever get this resolved? My Neurio was installed using a splitter to measure two electrical panels (200A & 100A), so four CT clamps total. I'm getting some weird readings at times in the Tesla app and when I log into the inverter directly.

    Ethernet to Tesla Solar Inverter?

The standalone Tesla Solar Inverter ethernet port is disabled. Supposedly it will be enabled in a future firmware update. FWIW, I have the Tesla Solar Inverter (no powerwall) and panels and it's connected via WiFi with a pretty weak signal (-68 dBm) but I've had no issues with it so far. It's...

Pest abatement for Tesla solar panels in the Las Vegas area

It didn’t occur to me until recently that the pest control company I‘ve been using for the past 3 years also offers pigeon guard service for solar panels. Turns out they install it exactly the way I was looking for (not drilled into the trim). They also tuck the mesh inwards so it’s a clean...

Pest abatement for Tesla solar panels in the Las Vegas area

Unfortunately Tesla doesn't offer pest abatement in Nevada anymore. Not quite sure why but I asked about it before and after the install. One of the local Tesla installers actually does pest abatement on the side but he also just uses screws to attach it to the skirt. It's not a huge deal and I...

Pest abatement for Tesla solar panels in the Las Vegas area

Recently had Tesla Solar panels installed and looking to get pest abatement installed. I‘ve only reached out to a couple local companies but most of them appear to just screw on the wire mesh to the outside of the skirt/trim. I did notice some folks in other states had Tesla install the pest...

Driver’s door ambient light only works when open.

I have a similar situation with a 2015 Model S 85D (in the United States). The rear right door ambient light did not illuminate at all (I believe even when the door was opened). I recently took it to service and they replaced the light. However, now both the rear left and right door only...

Unfortunately the sound is back. Three days of no issue and I've been driving with the music off just to see if I could hear it. Clicking sound coming from climate system fan

That's basically the exact situation for me. There have been some instances though that everything met the criteria you and I described but it still wouldn't happen.
