eMMC Repair is now covered for 8yrs 100k

Electrified garage replaced my MCU and upgraded my memory for $2,500 last year. Right after Tesla said they will fix under warranty. Sucksss.

    NHTSA Investigates Failing MCUs

We have no idea when the upgrade is coming for 2013 MCU1s. My Tesla MCU1 order has been on backorder with Tesla since June. My touchscreen is degrading by the day. Im at the point of solving the problem before the MCU just dies.

    First Time Model S Buyer

That's not bad then. No warranty still applies but if you get in low enough might be worth it. Review the service logs.

    First Time Model S Buyer

I bought an original 60 in Jan 13. First thing Signature Model S's only came in 85kwh batteriy sizes. At 175k miles you have no warranty at all so I would see all service records. Hopefully the motor, battery, touch screen and MCU have been replaced recently. Personally I would stay away from a...

YATSS - Yet Another Tesla Service Story

Get a second opinion. My car was pulling to the left from the rear after a body shop repair. Service center #1 prematurely labels the body shop repairs as the culprit. Service center #2 replaces the motor and the issue vanishes.

    Supercharger - Savannah, GA

I'll provide more detail. All the stalls were full and each only outputted between 30-50kwh max. All people arrived with low charge. I've been going to this station since my purchase in 2013. This station is in need of repair.

    Moisture/condensation in headlights

A custom car upgrade shop or body shop can take care of it. Replacing the headlight requires taking the bumper off so I left it to the professionals.

    Moisture/condensation in headlights

Condensation accumulated in my 2013 non tech package passenger headlight this year. Inspection of my old headlights showed that the seals had been compromised. Ordered replacements on Ebay. Saved a bundle vs. going through Tesla.

    165k Miles Battery Degradation

4,200 feet positive elevation change??? Lol. Theres your lost range. There may be a drop in voltage from what the battery can pull and deliver to the motor but look at the BMS to be sure.

2013 in the shop...2018 loaner MS

Around 2014-2015 threads about retrofitting including parking sensors and TMPS 2.0 were quite popular. The process of retrofitting parking sensors requires drilling holes for the sensors and repainting or rewrapping when your done. (~5-6k total) last i heard. Tesla priorities have changed in...

2013 in the shop...2018 loaner MS

The parking sensors can be done via Tesla or an outside source and unplugged performance sells the new front fascia for our cars.

This is why I still have my Dec 2012 build 6 years later. Most of the features you liked can be retrofitted. Not worth the money.

Infinite Mile Battery Warranty [Now] Being Honored By Tesla [Issue Resolved]

My issue is Tesla wont replace the battery even if you volunteer to pay for the replacement. Tesla basically locks you in. As cars get older Tesla should have options as the bottom and top range becomes unusable.

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

I agree. Even a budget cell would be reason enough to pass it on to your most loyal customers. I have my original model S I bought in Jan. '13 and I still haven't seen a good even reason to get a new one. Guess my money will have to just keep making money.
  30. scole04

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

2170 cells are advantageous or Tesla would not have wasted time in design, production and implementation. We are making arguments that its ok that tesla gives us older cells in the car we pay the most for. Tesla wants our best in turns of money i think its reasonable to get the most up to date...
  31. scole04

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

This purely looks at density. Model 3s batteries handling track mode for example is beyond what 18650 cells can handle. 2170 is overall better for the money. The owners spending the most should have access to this.
  32. scole04

TPMS retrofit for older Model S

I had this retrofit done on my 2013. Problem is you need to find a “friendly” service center. Its well known that some service centers will say yes and some will say no.
  33. scole04

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

I'm not spending another penny on a model S knowing the model 3 has a better pack in the 2170.

Tesla Referral Program To End As Base Model 3 Comes Online

Tesla is thinking with Supercharger V3 and 2170 updates these cars will just sell themselves. I have huge expectations.

    Fog lights missing?

Tech package (fog lights, HID headlights, auto rear hatch etc...) was a $3,750 option back then. I skipped it back then and retrofitted most of the stuff over time.

Depreciation on Model S is Horrible

Worse than useless, shady. KBB along with most of the other big car apprasial providers have conflicts of interest between the interests of their parent companies and the interest of the vehicle owners.

Vendor Unplugged Performance Refresh Fascia Upgrade

SDR in Owings Mills and after having a small fender bender had a new one installed by RS in Alexandria. Any competent body shop can make it happen. Unplugged sends the part on an 18 wheeler. BEWARE! Model S died at 20% charge

How many miles were on the s60 loaner?
  41. scole04

Who wants in on a class action lawsuit? ;-)

My Jan 2013 s60 is at 173 @ 90% and 193ish @100% with 101k miles. Tesla is going to have to allow for battery replacements/upgrades at some point as our top and bottom of the pack degrades.

    My charge port won't open

My situation was similar. I had to press the fob button multiple times and hold the charge port door down tight for it to open. I had an alignment issue. I paid a tesla certified body shop guy to shave down the charge port door to compensate for the misalignment. Works great now.

Should I get a new Tesla?

Tesla is not getting my money unless 2170 cells are involved. My 2013 Model S is still in good shape 5 years in (just crossed 100k miles). Autopilot completion and 2170 inclusion are all fluid. It's really a question of what is most important to you. If keeping the no car note life is not a big...
